Wow!!...Rachel Hatch continues to live her life following her own code..To help any innocents caught in a bad situation if she possibly can...And when Rachel sees a seemingly drugged young lady hustled into a car, dropping something on the ground after meeting Rachel's eyes..She knows this girl is in need of her services!!...After faking her own death to protect those she loves Rachel is alone, trying to stay out of any situation that puts eyes on her...But she can Not sit back and let a girl go it on her own..Not when she knows she Can make a difference!
After picking up the item the girl dropped, she investigates where it is from, traveling to a school where one teacher turns away from the rest to help her...The detective in charge of the case has little about him that screams 'I'll get the job done'...So Rachel continues her investigation and finds a PI hired by the Mom to find her daughter...It seems she has come upon a human trafficking operation...And she will need all her skills and smarts to counter act the back-stabbing, lying crew!
A fabulous story that brings human trafficking to light in this country, and shows the type of heartless people that do this TODAY! I highly recommend this series to everyone, wishing they could help someone in a given situation, we get to see a strong-willed woman do just That!!!

    Clear four stars

  • Michael Slavin

Great action book about female ex-MP in hiding, Hatch.

    What I liked:
    -Lots of action
    -Great character development
    -A few twists and turns

    What I didn't like:
-The whole book should never have happened, Hatch should have stepped in sooner.
-Late in the book-she turns the girls over. I think this was a bad choice.

    But overall, very good book.

For a dead woman she still manages to find deadly confrontations.

Now that Rachel has faked her death to protect Dalton and her family she finds herself out west figuring out her next move in her life. Who knew a stop for gas would land her smack dab in the middle of what appears to be a teenage girl in trouble. Well that is just the tip of the iceberg and with very little to go on, a wild and blood punping story keeps you glued to the pages. Will Rachel prevail?

    Loved it!

Hatch is a powerhouse!! This adventure was right up her alley. Gibbons was GOOD! I think it's pretty tough to fool Hatch. Well done there. I am anxious to read the next one. Taking down this sex slave ring proves to be a big task. Great book.

    Exciting

I jumped into this book without reading the previous ones. I was worried that I would be lost not knowing Hatch's history. I was pleased to read an exciting story wit unexpected twists! I can't wait to backtrack to read the others!

After a hefty break from the world of Rachel Hatch (especially after being mildly disappointed with the ending of the previous entry), I've decided to jump back in to this next entry. Or, at the very least, wade back in. I'm not gonna go so far as to say it's great to be back, but it's still alright. I wasn't really blown away or wowed by anything. At this point, though, I don't really expect to be.

This was still overall a good read. It wasn't super exciting, but nor was it unbearably boring either. As is typical, on her journey to her next destination, Rachel finds herself intersecting with a girl who seems to summon her for help. The girl seems disoriented and is being carted around by a man. Rachel does her Rachel thing and investigates, only to discover she's stumbled into the world of sex trafficking. And so of course, she takes it upon herself to right such a horrid wrong. And thus the story carries on. Rachel goes to and fro, does her thing. Etc, etc.

Annoyances that were prevalent in past entries (such as whichever author expresses a particular writing style) fortunately weren't as dominant here, so that was a definite plus. The plot is easy to follow and the pace is pretty good. As I said, it wasn't something that blew me away, so I can't really say much else on the story. Though I will say this much: bravo on the twist as I did NOT see it coming. I DID see the ending coming from a mile away though, found it predictable, so of course I had to tackle with a cliffhanger that will of course lead into the next book of the series.

I do intend to continue on to satisfy curiosity, though perhaps not right away. Soon.

The interaction between Rachel and the school and police officials was awkwardly contrived. Failure to make clear the relevant info Rachel had was not particularly believable. And the job of the author is to suspend the sense of disbelief. I kept feeling this was a proposal for a screen adaptation rather than an actual novel. The unexpected [and probably unrealistic] popup of Daphne and the Colorado clan into her thought processes became not only surprising but, frankly, clumsy. And will someone please learn how to use the verbs "lie" [to recline, intransitive] and "lay" [to place, transitive]. You seem to be relying on autocorrect with a spoken software interpreter. You need an actual editor/proofreader if you want to eliminate the frequent missteps.
The character remains engaging, her skill set is entertaining, but these latest books seem to lack professional finish. Sorry.
