Gunner (Wolf Elite, #1) Reviews

    unexpected hero, shifter princess

Once a simple soldier, now my soul was joined with that of a beast, and the two struggled to live together in harmony. I was getting better at learning to deal with it, but my beast was still quite headstrong. If I didn’t allow it to come out every once in a while, it tended to find a way to break free of its own accord, something that was never good for me.

Original story about shifters and dated mates. In this world there are pure blood shifters (shifters by birth) and hybrid shifters (made shifters — humans bitten by a shifter)
Gunner is a strong , upstanding man and struggling to get a grip on his new reality when he runs into Celine, a pure blood and what you could call a shifter princess (if they had royalty).
Slight complication, she’s promised to Carter.

I enjoyed this first book in the Wolf Elite Shifters series. I received a free copy from the author, since I’m subscribed to her newsletter. I’m writing this review of my free will and this is my honest opinion.

Not a bad freshman effort in this new series. The characters could be a bit better defined. The randomness of the profanity seemed forced and didn’t add any urgency to the story.

Gunner and Celine are likeable characters and the chemistry between the two is palpable. The villain, Carter Langstrom, in the tale, is highly unlikeable and that is well before his fight with Celine.

I would have liked to have read a bit more about the pack that took Gunner and his men in just to set up the series a bit more for down the road.

On My Were Scale of a Hotness, 3 stars.

Novella. Okay. The writing was not riveting. Didn’t really get into the characters. It was all sort of on the surface.

This is my second time reading this book, loved it that much and all the others to follow in this series.

Love this series, great introduction into the world of these soldiers that were thrown into an unknown world while serving their country.

Gunner is still reeling from the rejection he received from his fiance of years after he revealed what was done to him in the jungles of Brazil. He is basically new to this life and is unawares of most of the politics, or sentiments involved. He moves to NYC to start a new life after the devastation he has endured and is sent reeling when he is met with a very new feeling he doesn't understand, that of the mating pull and at the same time is introduced to the Pure Blood Shifter World of which his so called fated mate Celine is from.

Operation Wolf: Gunner Wolf Elite Book 1
    By Sedona Venez
    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Operation Wolf: Gunner is the first book in this new series, Wolf Elite by Sedona Venez. If you love riveting storytelling, sensual shifters, and romance that never quits, then you’ll love the Wolf Elite series.
Operation Wolf: Gunner Wolf Elite Book 1, I am a book stalker of Sedona Venez and I have read most of her books and I really enjoyed them! Gunner has a secret that has changed his whole life. Gunner character is on the edge. This is a great start to a Awesome series and author Sedona Venez doesn't disappoint. The and hPThey are very interesting characters from the beginning of the story Gunnerstruggling to control his inner self. Since he feels his life can't go back to way it was he decides to leave and things get interesting.
Celine Cooper is a sassy, curvy beauty responsible for capturing his attention like no other can and she’s about to add a whole new set of problems to Gunner’s already complicated life. I enjoyed how these two developed such a bond outside of any conventional means. I would like to read more about these two characters,
The best part it’s a series that reads like a standalone. Now normally I’d probably complain and say I wanted more… but in this case it isn’t so. I am entirely content with the way in which everything turned out. There is not a single word I would have liked to see added or changed. Sedona Venez shows once again why she is an auto read author for me with this latest in her series. Ok I enjoyed the story and the characters, and I highly recommend this book and this series. I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

Gunner is a half-blood wolf shifter who was turned while doing special operations in Bolivia. When he returns home, he has to get control of his inner wolf... and things get complicated when he meets the woman of his dreams, a pureblooded wolf-shifter who has already been spoken for. After a one-night stand, the two discover something about eachother that puts them both in danger. This is a standalone novel in the Wolf Elite Shifters series.

This seems like it's a novella that's a portion of a book. The story is fun... but for me it fell kinda flat. (I guess people don't read paranormal romance for the stories like I do...) I felt like the characters fell flat, and that more could have been done with the plot. To me, the novella felt a little lazy.

The writing was good, and it was engaging... but that zing was missing. I found it easy to put down, and I really couldn't get into the story. It would have been better to flesh out the plot more-- show that time between when being bitten and before Gunner moved to NYC. Show the lover's entanglement with her father's business partner and her interaction with her father. Maybe even show more of why the witch-roommate was soft on him later on.... that was a complete 180. I just felt the plot was not there. It was hurried and flat.

This author was new to me but the blurb of the book caught my interest. I am very glad I took a chance. I found this book to be suspenseful, intriguing and also very hot!!

Gunner is a soldier who on his last mission encountered a enemy that he couldn't win against. He and his men were forever changed that day. Now stateside, they are having to deal with these changes. Gunner decides he needs a change of scenery because some people weren't as supportive of the change his life as taken. One night out with a friend, he meets a woman who he is instantly attracted to. Not knowing this woman would be his missing puzzle piece.

My only complaint with this book and it no way takes away from it was I felt the whole book was building up towards the epic showdown, but yet when it actually happened it was over fairly quickly.

I am very interested to read more from this author and this series!

Gunner had his life changed dramatically when he was bitten and turned into a wolf shifter. He lost the life he expected and is trying to find a new path. When he meets Celine, he feels a connection but she disappears. Celine is in a difficult situation without any ideas how to fix it. She feels drawn to Gunner too but doesn't know how it can work.

Gunner is a good guy who is trying to make the best of his new life. I really liked him from the beginning. He is honest and just trying to do what is right. He and Celine have great chemistry. She is hiding a major secret which could endanger them both. I really liked how protective he was of her and that he focused on what was important. He would do whatever is needed to protect those he cares about. Celine is protective too and got in the situation because of that desire to protect someone. .They have to face some real danger to get a chance at happiness.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

This is the first book in the Wolf Elite series and the first book I’ve read by this author. It always makes me happy when I read a new to me author and enjoy the book. I got really lucky on this one. I love shifter books and military men; this book is a double check on that. I enjoyed the writing style along with the characters. This book grabs you from the first chapter and keeps your attention to the end. I felt this book was a perfect start to a new series and look forward to continuing this series. It was a good story with solid characters and I really liked the true mate story line. I felt the author gave us plenty of back-story for the length of the book to satisfy her readers. I would defiantly recommend this book to those who like sexy hot shifter stories. I give this book 4.5 stars
*** I voluntarily received this ARC for an honest review via the author, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author or Publishers in anyway.***

When Gunner returns from fighting he discovers that he cannot go back to the way it was before - he now carries a dark secret that that threatens to consume him unless he finds a way to control his inner wolf. Can he learn this in order to ever have a chance for happiness? He leaves everything behind determined to have a new start but when he goes to a nightclub he soon crosses boundaries and the truth about him is revealed. The sassy and curvy beauty responsible is called Celine Cooper and she is about to heap a new set of problems on him - can he handle everything and stay himself?

I really enjoyed this story which had Gunner having to cross paths with a very evil man in order to get the chance of a future and happiness with the woman he loves. I loved that Sassy Celine started off trying to help her family but in the end, she fought for her future with the man she loved. Easy to read and understand. Contains some violence and sexual content.

The perfect start to what i hope will be a very long series by Sedona Venez !! Gunner is made into a hybrid wolf against his will, along with the rest of the men in his military crew, coming back from that has been almost impossible for him to handle, enter Celine, a full blooded wolf shifter who is the daughter of a billionaire and to be mated to his choice of male. What her father doesn't know is Carter is a full blooded wolf who likes to beat his women, but Celine feels like she has no other choice. Follow along to see how Gunner and Celine meet, fall in love and just maybe outwit the cunning wolf Carter thinks he is . 5⭐'s, which I almost never give and most definitely not for the first book in a series, but this one deserves the starts, even though it is a bit shirter tgan I like my usual novels .

  • Lynn Vincent

This is the first book in the Wolf Elite series. I found it to be a fast read and held my interest throughout. It is Gunner and Celine's story.
Gunner has come to New York to start a new job. His life has been disrupted since he and his fellow soldiers are attacked by wolves. They have all become hybrid wolves. His friend takes him to a club where he meets Celine.
Celine is the daughter of a rich businessman and a pure-blooded wolf shifter. She has come to the club to get away from her unwanted husband to be. She runs away when she realizes Gunner is her true mate.
How will these two ever get to be together? Will a pure-blood ever be able to mate a hybrid? I am looking forward to reading the other stories in the series. I give the story 5 stars.

  • Danielle Carpenter

This is an interesting concept for a shifter world. It amazes me that these shifters are living in major cities with heighten senses. The noise of the city would be very loud and all the people talking at one time. The author does distinguish between hybrid and pureblood, and how mates are chosen. All I have to do is go around and have sex with every male and when I see flashing lights and have the best sex ever, I have found my mate. Seriously, this is just a license for bad choices and one night stands. As for the couple, I expected no less of a soldier protecting a woman, especially one whom he is attracted to and now bound to by their one night stand. Juliette like all women, realize they can't live with the logical choice and decides to fight back, because let's face it, who wants to be stuck married to someone who makes us nauseous when they touch you. I'm routing for Gunner!

    HEA
    Standalone
The rules in the shifter universe are slightly different from what I'm used to reading. Hybrids in this series mean a human that was turned instead of one born from 2 different species of shifters. This story is about a human man who was turned wolf during a mission for the Army. He and his unit were attacked and turned then discharged from the military. He loses everything when he returns stateside after being turned. He gets an offer of help from a human married to a Wiccan. The Wiccan woman instantly knows what he is and isn't happy he is in her home. When he meets a pure blooded shifter that ends up being his mate, he will have to fight to keep her. Can his hybrid wolf win a fight against another pure blood, or will he lose his mate to evil?

  • Lynette

    okay I suppose

I wasn’t overly impressed with this book. Mainly because I am a big fan or paranormal romance especially those involving wolf shifters. This did not hit the mark in my opinion. The FMC Celine was very childish. As a wolf shifter she did not have nearly enough “grit”. The MMC Gunner was excused because he just became a shifter a few months ago. The side characters like Emily were odd. I was upset that Emily was all up in Gunners business with no good reason other than just being nosey. The love scenes were mild at best, and I was not at all impressed. Again because I read a lot of books in this genre and wolf shifters typically know how to get down in pound town!!! These two barely sparked a flame. I give this book 2.5 very very very generous stars.

How refreshing to read a book without any obvious typo errors! Not only that but to find a good story and lovable characters. The only flaw I found was when the main character needed to sound macho it seemed forced, like someone who was just trying to be verbally abusive but doesnt really know how. Good job, a good way to spend a few hours. Gunner was an interesting character, obviously hot but with control. How hot is that? It has an interesting story and interesting characters and was a relatively fast read. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Oh, what a wonderful book. This is the first book in the series, and if the others are as good as this one, then I can't wait to read them. Gunner is a hybrid wolf-changer. He and his men were on a task force in the army when they were attacked by a group of wolves, and they were all changed. Then he meets, Celine, a full bloodied wolf-changer, and his mate. There is a big problem though. She has promised herself to another. There is lots of action, suspense, drama, and hotness. Sedona Venez has written an exciting story, that is hard to put down. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I highly recommend it.

This is the 1st book I’ve read and reviewed for Sedona Venez and it was fantastic. This is Juliette’s and Gunner’s story, Gunner gets bitten by a werewolf and he ends up being a half hybrid wolf. Juliette is a pure blood wolf, they both meet each other in a club and spend the night together. Juliette runs from Gunner when she realises that he is her mate. This was one amazing story, very well written storyline and I loved the characters. If any other of Sedona’s books are like this then I’m looking forward to reading more. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves shifter books, it’s definitely well worth the read.

Terrific first book in this series !!!

    Wow, what a story !!!
Gunner finds himself bitten by a wolf shifter while on patrol, and his life changes in an instant .
Leaving his old life in Florida behind, he travels to New York , where he hopes to start a new beginning. A chance meeting at a bar shows him that things might not be so bad after all .
Celine is a purebred shifter at a club with her friend . On a dare , she flirts with the hybrid across the room. Not knowing that both of their lives are about to change .
I loved the characters, and the story , and the way everything flowed . Am looking forward to the next book !!

The authors take on being a bitten lycan was a nice change of pace. Everything was not easy or smooth in Gunner's transition. The plus side is that humans are aware of "others" living among them either being liked or feared.

In Celine Cooper's world of "born shifters" there is a hierarchy that comes with th silver spoon in her mouth. Not always willing to bow to convention but will do anything to protect her father.

    Really enjoyed this book.

Received from the author and read and reviewed without obligation to do so.
