Hell hath no fury like a woman with everything to lose....

Married and a mother, Victoria Turner, Countess of Galbury, has left her investigating days in the past. Or so she thought. When a fresh wave of crimes instills fear in the heart of London, she heeds the call and the "Vixen" is born again.

To Christian Turner, Earl of Galbury, there are two things about his wife that stand out: her unmatched determination and her unique talent to attract trouble. Determined to protect her, he vows to stand by her side even if it costs his life. Until the day it does.

When Christian goes missing, the sins of the father shall be visited upon the daughter. The Shadow, a demon from her father's past, has returned with a thirst for vengeance. A fact that becomes crystal clear when Victoria receives a package with a familiar ring and a lock of hair she knows heartbreakingly well...

OH EM GEE!!! Well written murder mystery. The Author Emma Linfield has surpassed herself in this genre. It is the best that Ms. Linfield has ever written. I was intrigued, enthralled, immersed, absorbed, delving deep in the subject matter and captured by the story. I could not put this down. It had me hook line and sinker from page one. I love, love, love Lady Victoria aka The Vixen. She is a model heroine. I could not have imagined a woman with the drive, ambition, control and an intelligence that was way above average. She is a super sleuth. However, she never forgot her humble beginnings and the people she cared for, the downtrodden, women of the night any who could not afford to defend themselves. She also maintained her humanity. She is a loving mother and devoted wife. But investigations of serious crimes were her forte and no matter what she was determined to keep London safe for when her daughter grew up even at the cost of her own life. We have Christian. I loving supportive husband who struggled between wanting to protect his wife and letting her go and trusting in her. There is Benedict who has been like a second father to her that Victoria worked for and now with in fighting crime. The serial killer in this story was a gruesome character. He had two personas that he worked with. One as a working man and the other as "The Shadow" murderer. The two personas were as different as night to day. Victoria was trying to figure out his method of madness and how it all related one victim to another. The closer she got to finding out who the Shadow was, she and her family became more in danger. When Christian was kidnapped, he was tortured by the Shadow. The Shadow sent pieces of Christian to Victoria to get her to stop her investigation. However, the opposite occurred. She was more than ever determined to bring The Shadow to justice and make sure he hung for his crimes but specially to pay for his torture of Christian. Secretly with her father's help she was getting closer than she had ever been to the Shadow and finding Christian. I digress for a moment here. At home have you ever experienced looking for something only later to find it was right in front of you all along? Well that is what happened in the story. All the answers to her questions about the murderer was right in front of her all along. When the reveal happened, I was so shocked, surprised and impressed that the Shadow was able to pull off such an elaborate scheme. If you did not read the previous book "An Unbending Lady for the Desperate Earl" please take the time to do so as it will answer questions you may have from reading this book two. This is a must read. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this book.

A roller coaster ride of thrills, suspense and romance!

Emma Linfield is an example of the student surpassing the master! Ms. Linfield's 10 year writing career, was inspired by the masters of historical romance such as Jane Austin and Georgette Heyer. In my opinion, her novel, Crimson Chronicles of a Fearless Countess, surpasses those critically acclaimed authors of the past.
This is the second book in Emma Linfield's A Vixen In London series. Emma's previous hero and herione, Christian and Victoria, continue to defy society's norms, as they marry and have produced a delightful minx of a child, Mercy. So note that this is best read after you read An Unbending Lady for a Desperate Earl. I think Crimson Chronicles is better than the first. Emma has mastered the art of carefully revealing clues and intrigue without giving away whodunit. The suspense is magnified by all the twists and turns in the plot. And like the heroine Victoria, just as you think you might have the mystery solved, the killer surprises you with actions you never saw coming. Even the ending has you gasping in disbelief, as Emma Linfield surprises you with a villain you never saw coming.
Still as the hero and heroines world seems to come crashing down around them, Emma still delivers on her promise of a happily ever after. I would only hope that Christian and Victoria have more to say in the future. I have enjoyed being a part of their world and hate to say goodbye!

Spectacular! Emma unleashes the demons from hell with this stunning jewel, ramping up the exuberance and challenge, making bank and keeping it real, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Entwined, combined and tightly banded, exposing the deranged quirks and defying bents, putting our characters through their paces. Stumbling through a minefield of deadly peril, chilling danger, nerve racking intrigue and spiraling suspense, negotiating through the cunning manipulations of dark menacing and malicious intent, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. Restrictions are amplified and exploited, laying out all the fervent facts, deals and debacles, shifting this baby into overdrive, blasting it into a hissy with a mind-blowing culmination. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits adding depth and diversity, transforming into genuine outstanding personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels like you can just reach out and touch it. Remarkable job Emma, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

This is more of a historical regency mystery. This is a follow up to a previous book, “The Unbending Lady for a Desperate Earl”. Victoria Turner, Countess of Galbury, alias, The Vixen, thought she was done investigating crimes. There are so many crimes occurring in London that people are living in fear. Murder is happening to upper classes as well as to lower classes. Though she is married and has a child, the Vixen must get involved. Her husband, Christian vows to be at her side and keep her safe but then he disappears. Now her daughter is not safe. Will she find the Duke? Who is this killer known as the Shadow? Will she find him? Will she save her daughter? There is intrigue, danger, suspense, twists, and turns that will keep you turning pages as fast as you can. This is a must-read. Perhaps Emma's best book to date.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posing a review. My opinion is entirely my own.

This is a great sequel to “The Unbending Lady for a Desperate Earl”. Victoria and Christian are married and have a child, but when trouble strikes and Christian goes missing, Victoria must once again take on the role of detective to catch the criminals! Well-written with great characters and storyline, as always.

The second book in the A Vixen in London series a well written story that held my interest until the last page. This is Victoria Turner, Countess of Galbury, her husband Christian Turner, Earl of Galbury, and their daughter's story. There is a really nasty villain, suspense, drama, danger, murders, kidnapping, beatings, and love. I hope there is going to be more in this series.

Loved this second novel in the Vixen in London series. I was rooting for Victoria to finally catch the killer. The bittersweet ending made me want to spend more time with the Galburys.
