Scepter of Flint by N.L. Holmes a fantastic four-star read. This is number three in the Lord Hani series and brings us a great slice of drama, as always, don’t worry if you haven’t read the first two, it’s not necessary. Lord Hani and Maya will bring the drama to you, it will sweep you up and envelop you, having you feel like you are helping figure the tomb robbing out. There is lots going on in this and lots of action and drama, plague, tomb robberies and more twists that a game of twister will bring you in to the story.

‘Scepter of Flint’ is the third book in, ‘The Lord Hani Mysteries’ series and having read the previous two books in the series I was particularly looking forward to this latest instalment and was definitely not disappointed. It can be read as a standalone story, however I feel that the reader will enjoy the novels more if they are read in order. I was pleased to be back with Lord Hani, an Egyptian Diplomat and his assistant Maya. This story was set during the Great Jubilee of the Aten, and Hani is sent to investigate when a mysterious series of tomb robberies occur and any witnesses to the robberies die. A dreadful plague is also ravaging the country and the palace where Hani’s physician daughter is. Hani has to make sense of what is happening between the tomb raids, the plague and Egypt’s ally, Naharin now being in the hands of a usurper. Hani also realises that he has an enemy, but who is it.
The author really brings ancient Egypt to life with her wonderfully descriptive narrative and world building and this really sets the scene for this novel. The authors knowledge and research shines through in her writing and I found the list of characters at the beginning of the book very helpful as there are a lot of characters to keep up with. Again Hani makes a great main character as he is well defined and relatable as well as likeable and he really brings the plot together along with Maya, who is another fascinating character. The storyline flows well and the plot is fast paced and full of action, drama and mystery which had me gripped from start to finish. I look forward to future books in this enjoyable and engaging series.

Scepter of Flint (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 3) by N.L. Holmes is another masterful tale. The rich tapestry that N.L.Holmes weaves in her wonderful Lord Hani mysteries will keep you turning page after page. Set in ancient Egypt, it is a historical fiction lovers dream. The mystery of the tomb robbers is not the only plot in this tale, but it seems quite ironic that a plague is also a part of this story, in view of our own current events. Lord Hani’s love for his family and his countrymen is a big win for me. I love how Holmes accurate descriptions make this story come alive and I love the historical notes she includes. Another win for N.L.Holmes!

    Scepter of Flint
The lord Hani mystery book 3
    By N.L. Holmes

Again author, N.L. Holmes has combined historical fiction with mystery. I love it when an author can transport you to another country and not only give you a mystery to solve but give you a real sense of being in that country, and environment. At the same time reading how two plots are woven into one story keeps the reader enthralled in the book, Lord Hani and his assistant has to solve the mystery of the tomb-robberies and the plague that threatens all of the people. I highly recommend this series to everyone.

This is the 3rd book in the Lord Hani Mysteries series. I love these books as it contains my two favourite subjects. Ancient Egypt and mystery.  When I first started the series I thought it would be hard to follow with all the ancient names and God's but the way they are written makes them easy to follow and most of the characters are in all 3 books so I recommend reading them from the beginning.

In this book we are back with Lord Hani who has been given a new assignment. There has been some tomb robberies but who is responsible for them? With the new prince taking over and changes to everyone's way of life Hani doesn't know who to trust. Could it be that the new Prince is actually behind the robberies? Lord Hani has a impossible task to get to the bottom of this mystery.

Scepter of Flint is my favorite Lord Hani mystery so far. I enjoyed the dual issue of both a high profile tomb robbery and the political ramifications of investigating foreign diplomats as potential suspects. I'm also a huge fan of the time period, set during the reign of the immortally glamorous queen Nefertiti and her notoriously unpopular husband, Akhenaten. This is one of the most interesting historical points in Ancient Egypt, and you get to explore both the events of the time and N.L. Holmes' layered plot and fun characters.

This series has kept me going from the first book. I highly recommend reading the first books before reading this one as you will get more enjoyment out of the series. This book sent me on a roller coaster ride. I felt compelled to keep reading. The story kept my attention from the first sentence until the last word. The main character Hani is a great detective who is trying to figure out who is robbing the tombs. He is also having a slight problem with the witnesses ending up dead. Can Hani figure out who is behind the robberies and murders? I highly recommend this book and the whole series.

    4 Stars

Scepter of Flint is the third book in The Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L Holmes. It is an historical cosy mystery set in ancient Egypt.
We team up with Hani, an Egyptian diplomat, once more as the mystery unfolds. With mysterious tomb robberies, the plague, politics, and troubling personal developments- Hani will have a lot to process if he is to figure it all out.
We are transported to ancient Egypt- which the author does a brilliant job of recreating and bringing to life. Her attention to detail definitely adds an extra element of interest to her stories. As with the first two book in the series, the author’s knowledge and passion for the period really shines through in her story-telling and writing adding wonderful depth and richness to the story/series.
I wonder what awaits Hani next?

    Thank you, N.L Holmes!

Book three in The Lord Hani Mysteries Series is set in ancient Egypt during the Great Jubilee of the Aten. Hani is an Egyptian Diplomat who sets out to uncover the mysterious tomb robberies that are taking place and the sudden deaths of witnesses. Faced with a seemingly corrupt police chief and his henchman does not deter Hani as he seeks to solve the mystery. He soon is faced with also trying to deal with a deadly plague that is descending on the kingdom and puts his life and that of his family at risk.

The author does an incredible job of transporting the reader back in time to ancient Egypt by drawing on her real-life archaeological background. She includes maps, a list of “gods” and a character list in the book as extra little touches to aid the reader in understanding the characters and the history of that time. This book can be read as a standalone or as a part of the series. A must read for anyone interested in historical mysteries.

Many times when a book is picked up for the first time in the middle of a series, it can be difficult to navigate what has been missed out on. This being the third book in the series and not having read the other two previous books, I wasn't sure if I could follow the story or not. However, the author does a great job of "catching up" the reader making this book able to be a stand alone. I'll be looking forward to going back and reading the first two books though since finishing this one!

This book is set in Egypt, not a setting you see a lot in today's literature and features tomb robbing and the plague. Lord Hani is tasked with finding out who's behind all the robberies while trying to keep everyone safe from the plague. It can be a difficult job when his witnesses keep coming up dead!!

    Enjoy this fantastic historical read!

Scepter of Flint is like the rest if N.L. Holmes novels in this series. Full of mystery and a little bit of danger. I like this novel because it is a mystery novel and it peeked my interest. While this is book 3 in the series it can be read as a stand alone novel. This mystery takes place in a different time amd while a little weird at first, I got used to the writing and plot.

This was a wonderful historical mystery, and I was hooked from the first chapter. I’m definitely following this author because I couldn’t get enough of the writing style, the flow of the story, and the intricate details! The author does a magical job of bringing history to your home and paints with such vivid language that I felt transported there. Will we find out what is happening with the tomb robberies or are we left to draw our own conclusions? I am extremely excited to read the rest of this series and see what N.L. Holmes will bring to life next!

Scepter of Flint (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 3) by N.L. Holmes. This series has quickly become one that I can’t get enough of. I started being on the weary side because it’s outside my comfort zone but each book makes me happy I gave it a shot. The storyline is engaging and original unlike most of my reading pleasure and I love that. The author created a story world with words that could capture anyone’s attention. The characters are complex and well developed and the storyline had me completely drawn in and happily lost in its pages for a while. The writing style has a nice easy flow and the pace of the story is easy to follow. I’m excited to see where this author takes readers next. Four big stars and highly recommended.

Wow just WOW!! This is the first book I have read by this wonderful author but I know it definitely will not be my last. I started with the 3rd book of this series and I thoroughly enjoyed it BUT I will be back tracking to read the first 2 books and then reading this again because apart from the enjoyment of reading them all I am sure it will further enhance the series for me. I mean a Great Mystery and Ancient Egypt who could resist that!
This book truly has it all happening, tomb raids and a plague just to name a couple things. With loads of twists and turns along the way creating an intriguing storyline, this is a page turner from start to finish that you simply do not want to miss! I loved the characters, the storyline and the way this amazing author had my imagination firing with every word.

This is the third book in this mystery series based on ancient Egypt. As a lover of historical fiction, I have become very enthralled with this series. This book reminded me of “Murder on the Nile” in some ways, but with more historical accuracy. I love her diligence of the excavation sites, artifacts and material remains to help not only solve the mystery but provide you with the knowledge of that era. I must also mention that her maps and “Glossary of Gods” she includes helps to know who and what she is describing. I was never familiar with the Egyptian Gods so that was a nice learning tool. If you are a fan of historical mysteries, please check out this book and the rest of her series. I think you will thoroughly enjoy them.

    Ancient Egyptian mystery
This is a wonderfully detailed historical mystery that has many twists and turns. The author delivers a story steeped in imagery and archeological detail while staying true to history. Lord Hani and his assistant Maya have their hands full with an outbreak running rampant across the kingdom while tombs are being robbed. They will need to draw on every asset but who can they trust? If you like historical thrillers, this is a worthy read.
