He'll hath no fury like a disfigured but determined U.S. soldier.

It's darn near impossible to even imagine a female soldier attempting to participate in the pre requisite testing for "the gauntlet" however Hatch has to endure the grueling course to prove worthy to rejoin her team after being gravely wounded in combat where a team mate was killed. I am exhausted after Rachel's experience.

Essential Background on Series and Rachel Hatch

This short story segment gives focused information about Hatch's strong character and unbreakable determination. Few candidates make it through Special Forces "Selection" once, and now after her debilitating injury Rachel Hatch is back to prove herself again. However, this time her former leader wants her to fail and comes to make it impossible for her.

These shorter reads give important insights that expand the series and develop the character. I enjoy these quick reads on a character I'm following to learn important backstory insights too important to force into a longer work as a flashback. Besides, it's fun to take a fast break with an engaging read.

I look forward to more additions long or short in this series.

I was always a fan of the Jack Reacher books and was intrigued by the Rachel Hatcher series by L. T. Ryan as a female Jack Reacher-type character. These books have not disappointed me. This short story is about Rachel's trying to return to her old unit after a terrible battle, where she was injured and lost one member. The physical fitness testing and the group dynamic are clearly brought to bear here with this wonderful short story. It is a nice read if you are interested in following Rachel's development and career.

Read the series, Rachel is awesome.
A short but intense portion along Rachel's path to redemption.

    Proving ground

Interesting. At least it showed what Hatch was going thru to become the first to go thru selection twice. But the story wasn't complete.

After recovering from injuries, Rachel Hatch, must "prove herself" to get back on the team.

    Good Seque

Being a dedicated follower of Hatch, I am glad her story isn’t over; a changed course but not over.

Watch for a character sure to be in Hatchʼs future.
