Zeus/Zane, King of the Greek gods, holds the world in his palm in both his mortal and godly form… until Hera leaves him, forcing him to uphold Gaea's clause: There must always be a Queen, or he loses his title and part of his power along with it. Time is short. Too bad the one woman he has his sights on wants nothing to do with him. Or does she?
An empath criminal prosecutor...
There's nothing Keira Bazin dislikes more than defense lawyers. So when she discovers Zane Vronti, one of New York's finest, has been brought in on her newest murder case, it's anything but good news. Tensions flare as the two immediately butt heads, but there's something about Zane she can't put her finger on. His emotions are the strongest she's ever felt--borderline overwhelming. Power. Lust. Command. Can she fight her growing attraction for him? Does she want to?
** This is the LAST book in the Contemporary Mythos series. Though all can be read as a stand alone, there are Easter Eggs for those that read in order as books intersect. **

*AUDIOBOOK REVIEW*
WOAHHHH. This is literally the epitome of STEAMY! I also love legal thrillers so this was right up my street and made for addictive listening!
The narrators for Zeus and Keira are absolutely sensational. Perfectly cast and suited their characters superbly. Their connection as characters came right through their performances and I was so impressed!
The fantasy element with Zeus as a god King didn't come across as the main theme of the book though, and I didn't follow that thread of the story as closely as the others.
A really great audiobook, which made me sad I hadn't listened to any others in the series! -

It's Zeus' turn to find a new, better suited forever. Known as Zane, he's the epitome of a high-powered playboy attorney. I love how he meets his match with Keira. Of course, she's got her own demons to deal with before Zeus strolls into her life and he doesn't help.
Olivia, Keira's best friend and paralegal, is a scene stealer, cracking me UP! Her late night calls, her love of dirty books, her Swiss cheese filter, and all of that sass makes her incredibly endearing. Every girl needs a friend like her! 👍🥳
I busted out laughing at the quips Zeus levels at his brothers when they have a little reunion. I'm chuckling now just thinking about them. 🤣😂🤣 Seriously.
I love the tie-ins with all of the prior books, and while I'd recommend reading in order, it's not required.
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Thomas Locklear and Stella Bloom both of whom I've enjoyed before. This book is no different. ❤️ One thing I really love is the editing that has the characters maintaining their voices throughout the book. This is honestly how I wish every audio book was done.
Story: 4.5 stars
Narration: 4.5 stars
*KB = Keira's Bitch 🤣🤣🤣 -
Oh my goshhh I loved this book so much! I hadn’t read the previous books in the mythos series but I had zero issues understanding and enjoying this book. You truly can read each book in the series as a stand-alone.
I loved the feisty relationship between Keira and Zane. I love how Kiera so passionately fights against her feelings for Zane, while Zane knows that it’s a pointless fight on her part. And of course all of this leads to a pretty spicy relationship!
Definitely eager to read more in this world!
Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own. -
It took two years to figure out an angle for Zeus. To make him a romance hero. I hope you all not only stick with the journey but enjoy it :)

Zeus was such a wonderful addition to the series. I am not sure if its the finale or if we will get more installments, I am hoping that we have more though because we still don't know what is happening with Poseidon's daughter, which has been a bit of a cliffhanger in a couple of the books and I need to know what happens haha
I have to say that I was impressed with this one here. And even though it didn't quite make it to a five-star read, it was such a satisfying read and I had so much fun with it! I was beyond impressed with the way that the author wrote this story. I will admit though that the first half was a bit slow though, so not my favorite aspect of the story, and it could have been me too maybe? I had high expectations for this one as Poseidon's book just blew me away. I will say that I adored these books and I couldn't get enough of them. Zeus was so wonderful in many ways. I loved seeing this strong and crafty male get his queen and she fits the role perfectly! The way that Zeus is willing to sacrifice everything so that she has a fair choice was so heartwarming. And he makes for the best pining hero as well. I loved their angsty entanglements as lawyers, it was quite entertaining.
Overall this series has been such a blast and I am SO happy that I discovered these books. This author just works so well for me and I can't recommend these enough! -
Do I regret jumping from the first book to the last in this series? No. No, I don't. Mostly because when I read Hades, I felt disappointed towards the end of the book. Definitely didn't want to jump into the rest of the series but fate pushed me back in. Honestly, it's because Zeus ended up working for a couple of challenges I'm in. So, yeah, I have zero regrets skipping most of the books within this series.
In this, you will follow Zeus/Zane fall in love with Keira. Just like the first book, this one was okay. I didn't really feel anything for the romance or the characters. Sure, they had their moments of being likable but eh, things were rough. The beginning was just so slow for me and then things were likable towards the middle point. Then I have no idea what happened because I just got bored with everything.
Things were honestly not making sense to me before we got to the very last page. Again, just like the first book this definitely had potential to go one way but went the complete opposite. I guess, in some weird way, I'm happy that I read the first and last book. It just made me feel happy with my decision of skipping books. -
Keira and Zane’s sassy connection was one of my favorites. I adore how Kiera battles so hard against her affections for Zane, even though Zane knows it’s a futile battle. Another aspect of Carly’s stories that I admire is her strong female friendships. Keira had Olivia, and I appreciated Cordelia’s bond with her pal Meg in Poseidon’s novel. I think it’s fantastic that there are so many powerful women in this series.
I like how well-researched and realistic all of the court sequences were. The author is not just concerned with the characters and their love story. She’s creating a life for them that is vibrant, detailed, and well-planned. As a result, and because all of her characters are charmingly imperfect, it’s simple for me to think that those characters are genuine, that I could befriend or even love them. The pacing was excellent, as it kept me interested throughout. This was the ideal conclusion to the Contemporary Mythos series, and it’s the most steamy and sexiest novel yet!

I received the book as I was a part of the book tour conducted by @mtmctours! -
Hands down, this is Carly’s best writing and storytelling. You can feel her confidence with her characters and plot points. This stands out amongst the rest and really shines. I can’t wait to see what else this amazing authors has in store.

And finally we have Zeus! I have to admit I didn't really like Zeus as a person, but that's probably not that surprising, since I don't like him in the mythology either. He is a perfect fit though, the arrogant womanizer who does have a hidden soft spot ;). Keira is a perfect match for him, and even though I thought the whole development went a bit fast, I did really enjoy this book.
-
Zeus, you sly god you.
Daaaaamn, bless the fates for this book. It was so different than any character Carly has written and I couldn't get enough.
I need more love...
Zeus is just such a fun read, I adored the relationships in this one. The banter, the steam, the slow-ish burn.
All incredibly delicious. -
Carly Spade certainly saved the best for last.
I waited 621 days for this book. Literally, from the moment we were introduced to Zeus in Hades, I wanted his story there and then. He was cocky, he was arrogant, and in a book character? That is my cup of tea. Alas, I had to go through his brothers, his sons, and his grandson before finally getting to the man himself, and all I can say is... THE WAIT WAS WELL AND TRULY WORTH IT!!
"Why do I always want to punch you and fuck you all at the same time?"
Zeus was the only book of the Contemporary Mythos Series that I obsessively obsessed over leading up to its release, and it seriously exceeded all of my expectations. Here we got rivals to lovers, we got opposing lawyers; we got strong leads who challenge each other at every single turn, and an insatiable romance that you're guaranteed to devour. And on top of that, Zeus is also a marriage of convenience romance - literally the icing on top of an already delicious looking cake - and if you've read the fifth novel of this series, Poseidon, then you'll know why that is. But if you haven't...
Hera has left Zeus, leaving Olympus without a Queen. But Olympus must always have a Queen, just like Zeus must always have a wife if he wants to keep the throne and the power that comes with it. So, in order to keep both - and in a very limited amount of time - Zeus must find himself a wife. And it's when he meets Keira Bazin that he knows she's the one. Except when they meet, it's during a trial. Where both are the opposing lawyers. On a murder case. Where Zeus - who goes by the name of Zane Vronti - is defending a very guilty person. Both have never lost a case, and neither are going to start now, which makes things a little difficult for Zeus when it comes to trying to woo Keira.
But Zeus needs a wife, and he wants it to be Keira. So, when he finds out that Keira will be an illegal US citizen unless she remarries soon? It's like a match made in heaven. Or for Keira at least... hell.
"I'm onto you, Vronti."
"I wish you would be."
Zeus is officially up there in my top five favourite reads of all time. It's just one of those books that you easily lose yourself in from the moment you pick it up. And one of my-- No. My FAVOURITE thing about it - and the thing that'll have me forever revisiting it as often as I can - was the dynamic and interactions between Keira and Zeus. The plot was amazing, but it was the characters who kept me hooked from beginning to end with their constant and entertaining back and forth banter, their magnetic chemistry that, no matter how much they tried to deny it, was definitely there, and their jealousy over one another that had me laughing my head off over how far one would go just to make the other seethe (I will never play another game of Scrabble again without thinking about this book).
But more than anything, what I LOVED most about Keira and Zeus was that, with every challenge Zeus threw Keira's way - because it almost always was him to set the challenge first - Keira met it head-on and threw the ball twice as hard back into his court, throwing Zeus completely off his game.
You couldn't get a better love interest for Zeus than Keira, and Carly could not have written a more perfect plot for both even if she tried. And the fact that this book is written in dual POV? It just made this story for me, especially since Zeus was written in such a way where he broke that fourth wall in the novel, and he speaks like he's speaking directly to you, to the point where you can't help but be sucked in by him and want to get to know him better. The real him, and not who you think he is thanks to how he's portrayed in past books of this series, because in those books, he clearly wasn't liked. And he clearly had his flaws. But getting to better know Zeus here had me wanting to slap everyone that ever said anything bad about him and hug him tight to me and never let him go. Because here, he's vulnerable, and it was refreshing to see that in a portrayal of the King of Gods.
"I didn't expect any of this to happen. Not Hera leaving. Not running into you. And especially not... having my entire world turned fucking upside down - by you."
I just loved this book so much. Seriously, I loved everything about it. I loved Keira and how strong of a woman she was, and I loved Zeus and how much he wanted to earn Keira's love and affection, and not just get it like he's used to with other women. I loved the lawyer aspect to this story too, and I LOVED the epic side characters of this book who stole the scenes whenever they came onto the page - Olivia (who I want as my BFF), Hermes (step-aside Triton, I have a new baby in town), Hades and Poseidon (who had me ROLLING ON THE FLOOR IN LAUGHTER WHEN THEY TRIED TO HELP ZEUS OMG), Gaea and Ares (AREEEEEEEEEEEES MY MAAAAN), and especially the best of them all, Levin.
I also L O V E D the writing (as usual) and am once again obsessed over how visually descriptive the scenes here were, to the point where I could see the red emergency light of that particular holding cell, and I could see the lightning in the winter storm that Zeus displayed for Keira. More so, I could see how gone Zeus and Keira were for each other, no matter how much they tried to deny it.
"You're such a tease," he whispered...
"And you love it," I whispered back, feeling his smile against my cheek.
And so, if you love the Contemporary Mythos Series, then I know you will LOVE this conclusion. It is the best book of this series; it is my favourite book of this series, and it is the steamiest book Carly has written to date. It was also the perfect ending to this phenomenal series that has evolved so beautifully, I just know that if I were to go back and reread Hades now, I would see the biggest difference in Carly's writing style. She's evolved throughout this series, and it certainly paid off as it made it so that she delivered her best for the final instalment. And now? I'm so excited to see what Carly will deliver next for the rest of the Gods mentioned throughout the Contemporary Mythos Series, and I'm excited to see more of Zeus and Keira, and definitely more of Hermes too.

Sweet Zeus in Heaven!!! This had everything I love and some things I didn’t know I could love!!
Keira was quite an interesting heroine. She had an ability that left her a bit of a loner as well as a workaholic. She did have a close friend and coworker and their interactions had me laughing out loud at times. I especially loved watching her with Zeus. She was pulled to him and yet determined to resist…until she was no longer capable of doing so. Things got pretty steamy super fast!
Zeus was just as I imagined he would be, and then some. I love the way this author has created these gods and given them a new, “contemporary” feel. I’ve loved all of them, but good gods above, Zeus literally sent the feel of lightning through my veins as he maneuvered his way into Keira’s life. While he definitely had manwhorish ways, once he met Keira, those tendencies were quickly tossed aside in favor of winning her over. I loved being inside his head with his point of view.
This has a great pace to it, secondary characters that were fun and engaging, low angst and extreme steam. Highly recommending this incredible read by an author that keeps getting better with each book.

I really loved this book so much! Zeus and Keira had SO MUCH chemistry together - great enemies/rivals to lovers with crazy hot sparks (quite literally) between the two. These two really had some great banter and witty dialogue back and forth.
I also really enjoyed how Carly took Zeus and what we know about him (his arrogance, his manwhore ways) and still kept her take on him fresh and modern. I love the mix of the gods and what they’re doing in the modern world (Poseidon a surfer, Hermes a pilot, etc.)
And another thing I’ve really enjoyed about Carly’s books are her strong female friendships. Keira had Olivia, and I enjoyed the friendship between Cordelia and her friend Meg in Poseidon’s book too. I think it’s so great to see so many strong women throughout this series.
Although I think this has been marked as the final book in this series, I’m thrilled we’re going to get some more of these characters. I have read two of the books in this series now and while there are connections between some characters, they read a great standalones.
Thank you to the author and Storygram Tours for sending me a copy of this book to review and show! -
Meh, this was fine, I suppose. The writing/editing worked. There wasn't really anything wrong with it. But I find that I didn't love it. I didn't particularly enjoy the beginning, because Zeus was just so smarmy. I liked the middle well enough, as he dropped some of that act. And then I disliked the end (just about everything after the wedding) because it was just too pat. She suddenly knew how to use her powers with no adjustments. She stepped into her role as goddess and queen (over significantly older, more experienced gods/goddesses) with no notable insecurity of learning curve, etc. And, IDK, I guess it just departed too far from the known Zeus of mythology. All in all, it was fine. I just think maybe I wasn't quite the right reader for the book. But, hey, if you like the show Lucifer, I bet you'd like this.

Hera has left, leaving her throne and Zeus behind. He doesn't mind, they weren't in love after all... but Zeus has a problem. There must always be a queen on the throne of Olympus and he is running out of time to find the right woman for the job. Working as a criminal defence lawyer under his mortal disguise, Zane Vronti, can he find the one? Keira is a prosecutor and crosses paths with Zane when she is handed the trial of a suspected murderer. She has heard of Zane's reputation but hasn't ever crossed paths with him, other than catching glimpses of him in his penthouse across the street. She is captivated straight away, but also finds him arrogant, rude and a jerk. Yet, she cannot deny the pull she feels to him.
This is the sixth book in the Contemporary Mythos series but can be read as a standalone - in fact, this is the first book I've read by this author. It started well and I was intrigued straight away. Unfortunately, it did lose me a little a few chapters in when I found some of the descriptions of a particular character to be a little offensive. The words used to describe the characters weight didn't add anything to the story other than to portray the character being described as being 'ugly' which I found quite uncomfortable and, dare I say, a little offensive (weight is not a defining factor in someone's attractiveness and I didn't like how it was used in these descriptions). However, I stuck with the story and actually this didn't happen again past those first couple of instances. It was a slower burn than I usually like, but when it finally gets hot, it gets smoking.
The writing is easy to read. The chapters are short and shift POV between Keira and Zeus/Zane which I enjoyed. And there's a dog, which is always a plus! I think I will go in search of the previous 5 books and read about some of the other gods too! -
When you write a series of interconnected romances you always risk repeating yourself, telling the same kind of story six times. However, so far Carly Spade surprised me every single book. Each book was different, all the characters were unique and they each had their own kind of love story. And Spade saved the most interesting Greek God for last. I'm a very passionate Zeus hater so I nervously accepted my arc from BookSprout and I was ready to be surprised.
Once more Spade managed to make the story feel fresh and new even though we read the same concept, a Greek God finding his human soulmate, five times already. And that's mostly because both Zeus and his human girl are completely different from the other characters we met so far. And therefore this romance had an entirely different feel and a completely unique atmosphere. And even though Zeus and I will never match, I quite enjoyed reading this story.
What I loved most is that Spade does soften the stories told about Zeus a little, but not completely. It's clear where the stories told about him came from. Zeus is arrogant. He has absolutely no idea how love works and how to access and express his feelings. He does have a different girl in his bed every night. And he does abuse his powers once in a while. And yet, I do understand what our heroine sees in him, why she felt challenged by him, why he was the right kind of guy for her.
I also really loved how detailed and well researched all the court scenes were. It's something Spade does amazingly well in general. She not just writing a romance. She's not just focussing on the characters and love story. She's really giving them a vivid, detailed and well thought out life. And therefore, and also because all her characters are beautifully flawed, it's easy to believe that those people are real, that I could befriend them or even love them.
But, I still refuse to love Zeus. Our heroine can absolutely and totally have him. -
I was sent a copy of this book for review.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.
Zeus, King of the Gods, has a problem. His wife Hera has left him. Due to a clause created by Gaea, he must replace his Queen to retain his godly powers and keep his crown. He doesn’t have a problem with the ladies but as the requirement for a new Queen is time-sensitive he must choose quickly. Zeus or Zane Vronti as he is known in the mortal world is a criminal defence lawyer. His prestige stems from his expertise in the law and utilising his godly abilities to read people. Zeus meets Keira, the prosecuting lawyer in his new murder case and has an instant attraction to her. He decides he wants her to be his Queen. Only trouble is, that Keira seems to be immune to his advances and otherworldly skills.
Keira Bazin is a criminal prosecutor and damn good at her job. Her empathic senses allow her to help people while also telling when they are untruthful. She dislikes defence lawyers and when she hears that the legendary Zane Vronti is opposing counsel she is determined to beat him. Though they clash over procedure, Keira is left with an intense desire for Zane while still not liking him. What she senses are Sex and Power. A heady combination though she refuses to give in to her lust.
The pair square off, sparks fly and Keira's denial of her attraction weakens. As the case heats up so do their interactions. Can Zeus convince Keira to give in to her growing need for him? Will Keira accept Zeus when she discovers his true identity or will she run for the hills leaving him out of time to find his new Queen?
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. I love Greek mythology fiction, especially the naughtier kind and this delivers both. Zeus, who generally comes off as the bad guy, is seen here with a sexier, dynamic and more 'human' side to him which played well against Keira's nurturing, strong and determined character. Their attraction was palpable, and believable and was enhanced by the voice actors' performances in this audiobook. I was hooked from the start and loved every minute of it. -
➳ Rate: 4 / 5 stars
I’m really enjoying this series. Can’t wait to go back and read the first books.
Zeus was something ahah. Sometimes he was a bit much but always entertaining and pretty damn caliente. I loved these two’s banter, it translated into some amazing chemistry.
I loved Kiera’s strong will, her boss attitude, and how she gave Zeus a run for his money, both in and out of the courtroom.
The plot was pretty great. I really enjoyed the plottwist of how the heroine really fit so well with Zeus and everything finally made sense for both of them.
WOW. I feel that in all the Greek mythology retellings we read, Zeus is always the bad guy or the one we are destined to dislike. Carly does an amazing job at making him likeable, even with his wicked tongue and bad boy retorts. I loved the relationships between these characters and cannot wait to continue her series. I was an absolute huge fan of Hades, so I know all of these Greek Gods are going to capture my heart and soul, one book at a time!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. -
If I could give this book more than five stars, I most definitely would!
You've truly saved the best for last.
Zane is unapologetically Zeus, King of Gods. He's cocky, stubborn, and arrogant...a downright bastard to be frank and Keira quite literally loathes him. The passion and tension that's created from this pairing is just the most perfect enemies to lovers trope. And, of course, the banter in true Spade fashion shows through at the most perfect moments.
Hate and love are blurred lines.
Spade really outdid herself with this last book of the Contemporary Mythos series (or is it?!). Zeus was the cherry on top of a really great sundae and damn, was it decadent. These are books I will definitely re-read many times over when I need a treat. I cannot recommend enough giving this entire series a read, you won't be disappointed!
HUGE thank you to Carly Spade via Literary Bound Tours for the advanced finished copy to read, enjoy, and review! -
Wow. Just wow. Review will be posted closer to release date.
I don't think I could have been introduced to the world of Carly Spade with a better book. I may disagree with that statement once I read her other books, but
Zeus honestly was so amazing that I will find it hard to beat.
Usually, I go for Hades books. Why? Because he's the bad boy...and who doesn't love the bad boy.
Well, here we have Zeus portrayed as the Bad Boy and it was delicious.
I loved that he was literally Zeus while this story was also a "contemporary" retelling. So Urban Greek Mythology...and that's why I loved it so much.
Kiera being a prosecutor and Zeus being the defense attourney, talk about enemies to lovers! Their dynamic was irresistible and I would have done everything just as Kiera did.
The pacing was perfect, as it kept me invested the whole time (which seems to be something I'm struggling with lately).
Thank you Carly and Storygram Tours for gifting me this ARC! All opinions presented are 100% my own. -
Zeus has been the God I’ve been most excited for after meeting him in the other books in the series and wow Carly did not disappoint! – Each book in the Contemporary Mythos series can be read as a standalone but there are easter eggs and cameos that pop up in each book which is very fun to see if you read the whole series.
And I have to say I didn’t much like Zeus in the other books, but he was so perfect in this and is now my favourite! Zeus was so different from all the other Gods and he is a shameless womaniser with a secret soft side that he shows no one except his rescue dog Levin and eventually Keira.
This book gave us rivals to lovers, opposing lawyers, two very passionate and strong workaholic people. Zeus was arrogant and cocky (he is the God King so..) and I loved it. On the other hand, we have Keira who is an empath and spends every waking moment working, she’s strong and bold and kind. When Zeus decides to seduce Keira, he finds he has met his match. He has to find a wife or risk losing his crown, and whilst he could have practically anyone since women cannot resist him, when he meets Keira, and she stands her ground he knows he wants her to be his Queen. She stubbornly and passionately refuses him repeatedly and fights her attraction and growing feelings for him as much as possible. It makes for a very entertaining, tension filled and steamy read!
Zeus is known to meddle to get his way and he tries to do exactly that to get Keira to marry him but suffice to say it doesn’t quite go as planned. Keira demands more from him, and he finds he’s actually willing to give it to her. I loved that Zeus actually wanted to earn Keira’s love and that we get dual POV means we really get to see the real Zeus. We’ve met him in previous books and the real him is very different, we get to see underneath the front he puts on. And whilst is very much has flaws we get to see him vulnerable and tired and real and I couldn’t not fall in love with him. Carly manages to get Zeus to share his feelings but in a way that fits with him still being the arrogant King of Gods. It works so beautifully.
I loved the whole story, I adored the banter and innuendos and out right come on’s. Zeus was an shameless flirt with an enormous ego but then what else would you expect from the King of the Greek gods? I loved his relationship with Keira and that they challenged one another, and that Keira met him head on and never backed down. She was his perfect match and I loved that they worked so well together. Keira made him work for it and in the process Zeus’s hard exterior cracked enough to actually let out some of his true self. I loved that he made some progress with his family and that he finally found his person.
And I have to say I loved Olivia (Keira’s best friend) she was absolutely hilarious. And all the cameos were excellence, and when Hades and Poseidon pop up to help, I couldn’t stop laughing. I loved every minute of this book and Carly couldn’t have picked a better setting and mortal life for Zeus. Carly brough a new and fresh take on Zeus and I love the way she integrates the Greek Gods into the modern world. The clash of opposing lawyers just added to Zeus and Keira’s relationship, and I couldn’t be happier with how the book turned out.
The writing was excellent with Carly vividly bringing the story to life, I know that as the series has progressed Carly’s wiring has evolved, and I’m just addicted to her books now. She’s an auto buy author for me now and her books always make me smile and laugh and fall in love with her characters. This was a truly perfect end to the Contemporary Mythos series (though I have hopes we’ll see these characters again) and its definitely the steamiest and sexiest book to date! Zeus is my now my favourite characters of the series and he was the perfect character to end the series with.
-
I hadn’t planned to read this book first as it is the sixth in the series, but I saw claims that it could be read as a stand-alone and I really needed a Z for my alphabet challenge. I found the book to be enjoyable, but it did feel like certain parts would have meant a lot more if I knew the previous stories and characters more intimately.
Pros:
Fast-paced with witty dialogue. This book was fun to read. Even with the slight embarrassment the best friend could cause, there was nothing that went too far to the point of disgust just a lot of cringe which sometimes we all need.
I really appreciate a different look at Zeus. Seen under todays standards he is a creep, but once those traits were not only accepted but they were expected and revered. I think seeing a current day Zeus who experienced all the changes of time would be like any of us looking over our past, a little embarrassed about certain things.
I don’t loathe the dual perspective here because it does allow insights we couldn’t otherwise get and it is consistent and clearly marked.
Cons:
I hate when characters are just “overwhelmingly sexy and can get anyone they want,” I know that it happens in the real world but it is rare. It’s somewhat acceptable here because he is a mythological creature with magic and powers but it did slow my coming to like him. I also feel like his powers should have had even less effect on the main female character to better balance them from the start.
Part of me wished that Zeus would lose some of his power and have to work to earn it back while becoming worthy of the main female character. -
Oh my Zeus!!! This book was everything I was expecting for the king of the Gods and then some!!!
I love each book in this series by Carly Spade and Zeus was no difference. From the moment I started reading I couldn't stop, the plot and the characters were perfect. Keira was the perfect math for big daddy Z.
Ok, so Zeus is not an easy individual to be around. He is arrogant and cocky. Well that's how the world and fellow gods sees him. In this modern world he is a ruthless sexy lawyer and he knows it but when he comes face to face with the opposite lawyer in his latest case, Keira everything changes for him. He needs her, he wants her, he craves her but she is not going to give up easy.
Keira is an independent woman and brilliant lawyer. She has work hard all her life to achieve her goals, but she has a secret that has always left her feeling like she doesn't fit in a normal world. Her ability to fell emotions from other people made her kind of a loner.
Keira challenges Zeus in every way and their interactions are super entertaining. Things definitely heat up pretty quickly every time they are in the same room.
This modern retelling of the greek god was perfect because it made me see Zeus in a different way. -
Zane Vronti is one of New York’s most talented criminal defense lawyers. He also happens to be Zeus, king of the Greek Gods. He has everything he could ever want - until Hera, his wife and queen, leaves him. Now, Zeus must uphold Gaea’s clause, which states there must always be a Queen. If he doesn’t find one (and quickly,) he will lose his throne and his power along with it.
Unluckily for Zeus, the one woman he wants doesn’t seem to want him back. Keira Bazin is a criminal prosecutor who absolutely loathes criminal defense lawyers. When she discovers she’s going head to head with Zane, she’s both annoyed and apprehensive. But there’s something about him that she can’t help but be drawn to, against her better judgement.
Oh my gosh!!! I absolutely adored this last book in the Contemporary Mythos series. I think this one might actually be my favorite!!! The author’s writing is absolutely addicting, and I loved watching Zeus and Keira’s relationship develop over the course of the novel. This book had it all - the action, the romance, the plot twists, the steam. I couldn’t put it down!!!
Keira. She’s got a bit of a stubborn streak, but that’s actually what I like about her. She doesn’t let anyone or anything put her down, and she can definitely hold her own in a fight. I also loved her strength and compassion. Zeus. He’s so arrogant, but I loved that Keira brought out a better side of him. He also has a kind heart, despite what others may think. All in all, I completely recommend! -
10’s! 10’s! 10’s across the board!!!!!!!
Ughhhhhhhhhhh! This series is SO DUCKING GOOD!!!! I can not believe this book is the last!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
So I actually have one book left, because I skipped Poseidon to read this first. For one reason, it’s not on audio yet and the other is that I’ll be doing a live chat with the author on Instagram to celebrate the release of Zeus. So I wanted to know what happened before then.
Can we start by talking about how SEXY Thomas Locklear’s voice is? Like… I get weak in the knees when he talks and just want him to whisper sweet dirty talk to me like Zeus does to Kyra. His voice could literally melt the ice off of a ship in Antarctica. That’s how HAWT it is!
Zeus has now tied with my favorite book in this series. When “Zayne” showed up in Hades, I just knew that I’d hate the character no matter what. He is extremely cocky, thinks he’s better than most people, and is a know-it-all… which drives me insane! It also 🔥🥵DRIVES🥵ME🥵INSANE🥵🔥!!!!!! So a whole book with him telling Kyra how he is going to do the dirtiest of things to her really did a number on me emotionally and now I need a sexy King of the Gods to whisk me away.
I do really hope that this isnt the actual end of the series, because I love these books. Even if we move onto another pantheon and get little glimpses of these characters off and on, I’ll be a happy camper. -
Zeus/Zane, King of the Greek gods, holds the world in his palm in both his mortal and godly form until Hera leaves him, forcing him to look for another wife, or else he loses his title and part of his power along with it. Keira Bazin, the one woman he has been eyeing, wants nothing to do with him. Or does she?
Zeus is part of a series, but you can read it as a standalone. I read this in one sitting since I love how the author wrote the story. It is well written with a gripping and well-thought off plot. The way contemporary romance was incorporated with Greek Mythology made the story more interesting.
I love Zeus and Keira's banter and feisty slow-burn romance. Their interactions are much more amusing to read since they are strong-willed, stubborn, and intellectual characters. The chemistry and connection between the two are electrifying, and they would definitely make a good King and Queen.
Overall, Zeus is a fun and quick read. If you are into Greek mythology retelling, enemies to lovers, and steamy romance, then be sure to check this book out.🤍 -
This was a fun story to end this part of the series!
This is probably one of the steamiest of the series and Keira and Zeus make the most of it with their practically palpable chemistry!
I loved getting to know Keira and Zeus. Keira is an interesting character with her empathic abilities and is a kickbutt prosecutor. Zeus is also interesting because in the previous books he's...well...he's Zeus, but in this story he gets to be so much more! Keira and Zeus were perfect together, no one character kept having the higher ground because each gave as good as they got and it was so entertaining!
I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters the author has created with this series and I hope she continues on with the world she has created for them because there are so many more characters whose stories I hope get told!!
While technically it could be read as a standalone, read the rest of the series first. There are minor spoilers in this book from the other books in the series and reading them first really gives a good look at Zeus and some of his characterization. So just read/listen to them first, so that this book can have maximum enjoyment.
The dual narrator was perfect! The male did all the male voices, even during the female narrator's POV and vice versa. They each did a fantastic job with getting into character and giving them feeling and emotions. I listened at the normal 1x speed because that was good pacing for me for the story. -
3.5 ⭐️
If you’ve been friends with me for a while now, you might have noticed that I tend to read the last book in the series when it comes to romance books and usually, the last books are the best. And this one did not disappoint. I got scared to read modern mythology since Neon Gods, but I’m beyond grateful when the gods here actually have powers.
Zeus is my least favorite Olympians. I’ve read TONS of books about mythology and just reading Zeus’s name pisses me off. But this is such a surprise. I honestly liked his character here. After thousands of years, the Olympians are actually on Earth, living among mortals, and they’ve all changed. Especially Zeus. I loved the connection between both the main characters. I would’ve loved more relationship development because it seems pretty rushed, especially in the end.
