The previous two books are based on finger movement and observation skills. This book focuses on coloring and making words. Chinese is said to be the most challenging language, but not for younger children. Chinese writing is pictographic, and each Chinese character is a figure. Young children love fun activities, such as drawing and coloring. Hence, coloring Chinese strokes and characters teach children the stroke-shapes and directions of Chinese characters, resulting in natural memorization of some words. While coloring, mothers(or caregivers, teachers, tutor) should guide children to obey the rules of Chinese top first, bottom last; héng first, then shù; left first, then right; piě first, then nà __These rules cultivate children' sequence concept. At first, mothers(or caregivers, teachers, tutors) can follow the book to instruct children to make words that enable children to know the structures of Chinese characters and their sequences. Through their practice, children aware of how the Chinese words build up. With six basic strokes, kids can make plenty of Chinese characters, and even they can make words by themselves; if they "create" the right words, they are very proud, thus encourage their confidence and stimulates creativity.Although the basic strokes of Chinese characters only have héng [horizontal] (一), shù [vertical] (丨), diǎn [tear-drop or dot] (丶), piě [left-down stroke] (丿), nà [right-down-stroke](㇏), and tí [upward] (㇀), children will quickly learn and use the six most specific strokes to "create" many words. For example, horizontal (一) plus vertical (丨) is 十[ten]; left (丿) and right(㇏) becomes 人[human], and if shù (丨) is added in the middle of 人, the word becomes 个[quantity]. And a single word can be build up countless phrases, such as 一个人[one person]人人, [folks]. Each Chinese character has its form, which makes the Chinese characters have a substantial distinction. The Chinese characters are highly distinguishable and easy to recognize. Therefore, the overall image projected on the human eye's retina can easily transform into the human brain's visual memory.
