She has always said if she was running, it’s because she was being chased. That’s never been more true.

It's Autumn, bookstore owner Harvey Beckett’s favorite time of year, and she's most excited about two things – her bookshop's float in the annual Harvest Parade and pumpkin everything. But when her best friend Mart finds the body of her running coach and high school gym teacher behind the bleachers one fall morning, Harvey becomes enthralled in a mystery that uncovers their quaint town's darkest secrets.

When Harvey's curiosity gets the best of her, she and her pup Mayhem find that maybe there are just some secrets better left undiscovered.

3.5 ⭐️ A cosy murder mystery set in a small town in autumn with a dog mum who owns a bookstore - perfect!

I received an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of this book from the author. I wasn't a big fan of this book. I don't believe the author presented a realistic story.

Believability is probably the most important criteria for any book I read. The characters were falling all over each other in such a way that they came off as phony to me. I couldn't connect with the characters or the town. I've never stumbled across a network of people or a town dripping in perfection as in this book.

Oh my goodness, another great book by ACF Bookens. As usual, I couldn’t put this book down. The story was so enthralling and literally kept me wondering who the killer was until the very end. If you’re a fan of the previous books in this series, or you’re new to this series, either way you will want to run right out and read this.

I have enjoyed this whole series. This book however really felt timely with some of the things that were happening. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. I could not put it down and finished it in one night!

Wow. These stories just keep getting better and better. This time it is fall and the parade is about to happen. As expected, another dead body shows up and nobody liked him. The list of suspects is long. While investigating, it is discovered the dead man harassed a lot of women. The subject is handled very well throughout the story. By the end, the murdered is caught, money is raised to support harassed women, and a few surprises. Can’t wait for the next book.

Book 4 in this book related cosy mystery set in St Marins, USA. Harvey has been in St Marins nearly a year and this time of year there is the harvest parade with floats in the town.

Together with her tight knit band of friends, Mart, her housemate; Daniel, her boyfriend; Cate and Lucas; Stephen and Walter, not guiding the furry four legged part of the gang, Mayhem, Taco and Sasquatch, owned by various members, they put together a float, Harvey wants to win the prestigious blue ribbon to display in the bookshop window for the rest of the year!

Of course, it wouldn't be a cosy mystery without a body, this time Mart, finds the body of the local school coach, dead at the running track. Over time they find out things about the man which doesn't surprise anyone why he was murdered, but the killer is on the loose, and seems to be out to hurt the ones Harvey loves most.

Sheriff Tucker is on the case, but Harvey just can't seem to stop herself from getting involved, again! This time, wil she, and her friends live to tell the tale.

I loved this book, like all the books in the series, and have given it 5 stars, and I can't wait for the next book to be released.

Book trigger warnings: discussions on sexual assault (no detailed descriptions) and stalking

Of course Harvey feels compelled to investigate when her best friend, Mart, finds her running coach's body on the track field. Turns out the coach isn't such a nice person and there are quite a few suspects thanks to his perpetual harassment of women. And one of those suspects includes, Tiffany, a recent transplant to St. Marin's who is also a runner.

But Mart and Harvey quickly make friends with Tiffany, finding it hard to believe that she could commit murder, even with her history with the coach.

Along their journey to find the killer, Harvey, Mart, and Tiffany participate in a fundraising event for RAINN, a support group for victims of sexual assault and talk about the climate of today's society and how it treats said victims.

Despite the heavy topic of sexual assault, ACF Bookens manages to keep this mystery cozy and somewhat light hearted.

I really enjoyed the story but there were some editing issues that frustrated me. Being the 4th book in the series simple things like these shouldn’t be happening. The Sheriff’s name is Tucker Mason meaning that in the beginning when Louise (his wife) is mentioned as Louise Tucker it’s as though the author has forgotten her character’s names. Also,
Mack (Gaylen’s bull dog) suddenly being male had me going back through the previous books to verify she was female originally. I don’t understand how this kind of thing gets missed. While these things don’t make the story bad, it’s something that is hard for me to overlook. It was still a great story and The Who done it parts weren’t glaringly obvious so that is enjoyable to me. This is the reason I still gave it 4 stars.

While all the books in this series have been great, this one really got to me! ACF really knows how to write characters - and her books have a fantastic community of them! I don't want to ruin this story for anyone with spoilers but let's just say that the plot itself is a timely one, very emotional, and well written. The secondary plot is just a lot of fun! Add in all the friendships, the dogs, and Aslan and you've got another great book from A.C.F. Bookens!! Can't wait for the next one!!

I enjoy this series. It's light, fun and easy to read.

I have a friend who owns a small business on a similar main street so I can relate to the characters and the setting. I like these characters and enjoy visiting them and going along on their adventures and re-visiting the town.

The murder mystery in this book was a bit more sad than usual, but still a good story well told.

I would recommend this series to cozy readers who like good characters in a comfy, welcoming setting.

This has been the best book of the series, so far. Yes, it was a bit darker than the others because of the subject matter, but by no means irrelevant. The story makes you laugh, it makes you cry, and it makes you think about what you can do to help remedy the situation, that is far too prevalent in today's society. The plot is easily followed, and the story is very relevant. I highly recommend this book.
