This was my first book by this author and it was a great read. This book is about a man who lost his parents and first love when he was younger. His first love resurfaces and they pick up where they left off but her Dad does everything in his power to separate them. The plot will hook you from start to finish. It is a great length, the characters have great personality and are hilarious, and you become invested in the vibes of the book. The first love vibe, the true love vibe, and the close knit family vibe. But in the end, we gotta see where the loyalty lies? Is she gonna ride with her true love or her daddy? I would definitely recommend this book AND I will definitely read more from this author

    Cre Carter.

I dont normally give books 5 stars but this one DE-served!

I am excited to see where this series goes but lets break these characters down.

Cre- this child has been suffering since 16 for
things out of his control & the one person he loved was taken away from her because her weakass daddy couldn't stand to see her with a boy of a family he set up! i hope my boy gets all that he deserves...

Josie- whew girl, you gotta let yo daddy devils handle him
because if you dont he's going to get you killed as a consequence of his impulsive actions.

Lowe- that nigga. period. from beginning to end he dont play bout them kids or the carter name period. a real one.

Aliyah- mm she lowkey getting on my nerves bc i understand you being overprotective of your brothers as the baby & the only girl.. but sis you tryna fuc* the bestfriend of ya brother.... pump ya brakes sis.

    JOSEPH MF WESTBROOK-
idk what it is about you that got you so up the Kamara's ass to be their guinea pig but you're so deep in shit with them that you dont realize that the carters wasnt even your enemy. you let kamara cartel use you & you didnt use that shit to your advantage. the truce spared your life from the carters.. not kamara & if you keep moving as sloppy as you are they will behind your demise!
THEN you doing all of this for what? Val? YOU WAS CHEATING ON HER! whew chile, you deserve the death thats coming to you.. & i hope its by the hands of Josie.

Dutch- im so sorry, you didnt deserve that.šŸ„¹

    on to book two!

It's about to go down. OMG. My first read by this author and this story had my attention from the beginning. An adult war has now trickled down to the children and it doesn't seem to be letting up. The moto in this story is an eye for an eye. The Carter's are all about family and being each other's keeper and Cre is on a mission to avenge his parents. I feel for Josephine being put in a situation where she has to choose but I also feel for Cre because after that ending no one will be able to stop him. My heart definitely broke for him and his siblings. Anxious for how things will play out in part 2.

WOW THAT ENDINGā€¦. The Carter family canā€™t catch a break.

Josephine is so naĆÆve for her to desire was as a lawyer I'm going to need her to be fast on her feet when it comes to circumstances, but her possessive father placed her in the center of a war she had no idea about. The storyline of this book is keeping me interested. I'm curious as to WHY ? WHO? WHAT? WHEN? Although the plot and flow are smooth, errors do sometimes catch you off guard which is why I gave this a 4 āļø.

    Oh my goodness!

My heart is still in my chest from that ending. I donā€™t know what to think but babe this war is deadly and I feel so sorry for Josephine because she is truly stuck between a rock and a hard place... The Carterā€™s canā€™t catch a break and after all they have been through their family is continuously rocked by tragedy... I am definitely curious to see how this plays out in part two... This is my first time reading this author and Iā€™m definitely a fan now and I canā€™t wait to read more

    Where is your loyalty?

Is blood really thicker than water? Would you ride out for your love or familiarity? Those are the questions I asked myself after reading this book. I enjoyed it. It would have been five stars except it needs some editing. The flow and storyline are seamless but the errors trip you up every now and then. Nonetheless, I still encourage you to read this book.

    Girl get an Editor NOW

I really felt disrespected by reading this book. Like do you even care about your craft? The editing in this book is terrible and it definitely takes away from the story which is a great storyline and thatā€™s why Iā€™m so mad. Iā€™m not even sure I want to read the other parts. There was just too many errors for me in this book.

    Babbyyyy

Let me just say this book had me hooked from the first page...... I love Cre and Jo relationships and how the chemistry was still there after 10yrs of being separated. I feel so bad for the Carter family one death after another. Jo better pick a side her dad or her man which will it be?

    šŸ˜± OMG šŸ˜±

Just Crazy!!! I didnā€™t expect that ending to be how it was. Just heartbroken for them Especially when CRE Screams. You can feel the pain coming out of the book. Jojo pops has to go. His time is up!! I want to read more about Lowe aka their Godfather. I encourage everyone to sit back and enjoy read CRE!! You wonā€™t be disappointed!! Canā€™t wait to read part 2!! ā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļø

Small errors nothing that stop me from reading this great story. A possessive father who had it out for the people who he chose to defend putting his child in the middle of a war she had no clue about Joseph is scandalous to say the least and deserves every bit of karma he going to get. I pray the Carter's get at the kamaras as well. This was a captivating story which kept me entertained.

    Nice try

Cre was a lot of things in this story, invincible was not one of them. His character was flawed and not at all likable . His love for Josephine had a backstory I wish was flushed out more. The ending...... See what I mean? Give the story a try, see what you think.

    Ok Cre

Ok so good read but Lowe should have killed Joseph and been done with it. I feel like the author should have let the friend get killed instead of the brother, just my thought. Ready for part 2

  • Latasha

This was my first time reading Dakā€™s work and I wasnā€™t disappointed. I was intrigued by the story line and what each character brought to the story and watching them grow into themselves and I grew invented in them. I couldnā€™t wait to read book 2.

    CRE

I am all in this series! I love that CRE and Jo automatically recognized that they were together when reunited. I am surprised and intrigued as we find out what happened and whatā€™s at stake as the past sins meet the present retribution!

  • LaDonna B

    Whewww Dak

This was alot!!! Like you kept it coming back to back. I thought it was one person and the whole time it was someone else. Then placing ppl around strategically. You did yo thang. Iā€™m scared to read book 2 but here goes nothing.

  • Courtney Marie

    wow

Well written story!! Love the characters.. sad to loose anyone truly because I wanted a story of each. I feel for Josieā€™s situation but I think cre has been patient enough. I love the bond of the family I hope they can overcome this. On to part 2!

    Generally, the plot was okay.

However, the errors and grammar was so bad, it made following the story difficultā€¦too many moments of trying to decipher what the author meant.

Not sure if Iā€™m going to continue the series.
