Learn to Draw Anime Faces
Anime and manga have such a distinct look compared to standard comics that I was curious about the step-by-step process, and so I chose this book when I saw it at one of my favorite book review sites. This book focuses mostly on faces, although there are also a cat and the full body of a seated young girl. I liked the initial instruction page about things to keep in mind when trying to draw anime, like that the body shapes should change to reflect the emotions and mood at a particular time and that each character should be distinct to help keep readers interested as you create more books with the same characters.
For the learn-to-draw pages, a few more steps need to be shown to truly assist the rank beginner, for whom this book is theoretically directed (given the title). The author is good at showing the very beginning strokes and the final drawing, but I think more needed to be shown of the middle stages as the author added sometimes too many details between the steps. The author sometimes showed how to work on the detail of the eyes, but even with these, I felt sometimes crucial steps were missed when the eye was complicated. This book is definitely aimed at teens and adults because of the complexity of the drawings. If you're into anime and manga and hope to draw your own, this book could help you get there.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Following poor art easily got me looking for distractions. Her style was like mine when I waa 11. Lacked movement as well.
