She’s held captive with no one to save her. Except him.

Candace Cunningham might have escaped the hell she endured behind enemy lines, but she can’t escape the memories. The only light shining through the pain is the image of the badass SEAL team who came to her rescue.

Some missions don’t fade into the background. Adam “Archer” Walsh can’t get the woman he rescued out of his mind. She’s there every time he closes his eyes, and then she’s actually there in front of him.

When the trauma of her capture comes back with a vengeance, Candace calls on Archer for help. Will the fire burning between them be enough to keep her enemies at bay, or will it burn everything they’ve built to the ground?

A SEAL For Candace: Special Forces Operation Alpha: Fighting for Home Book 1 is by Julia Bright. This is the first in a new series and it sets the standard high for the other books. It is filled with excitement and adventure as well as dealing with love for family and friends. How far will you go to get what you want? How patient can you be waiting for someone? How much turmoil can you take? These and many other questions are answered in this book.
Adam “Archer” Culver was the leader of his squad of SEALS. They would do whatever it took to help the others out. No one was left alone. They had just had a day off with deep sea fishing and were headed home when they were diverted to Iran to rescue a unit that had been kidnapped and negotiations had not worked. When they got to the building, they found three male s and one horribly beaten female left of the unit. Luckily, they made it in time for the female to have been saved. Then it was off for home; but Adam still wondered if the female, Candace had survived.
Several months later, his question was answered when she asked to meet with the team who saved her. She had come to California to see a hand specialist and have work done on the hand that the kidnappers had tried to destroy. She needed answer from them about parts she did not remember. Reluctantly, they answered her questions. Adam and Black gave her their phone numbers for her to call if she needed anything while in Town or even later. They wanted her to know the team had her back now.
When she called Adam that night and the noise on her phone from the fight outside her room, he went over immediately. He simply took her home with him and then convinced her to stay at his house until she finished here in the city. He wasn’t home during the day and he would be gone on missions so ow long he would be home wasn’t known. Since she felt safe with him, she agreed.
Little do they know that the fight for Candace’s life back as it was had just begun. The kidnappers had taken her confidence from her and her ability to bounce back. Can Adam and his men replace that?

This really didn't make much sense.

There were so many unexplained plot-threads... so much pointless drama added in.

The characters felt un-developed to me. This really had potential... but there was so much thrown in there... it made it all feel... silly.

I am going to try the next one...

    Okay read

    Excellent Read

This was a great way to start a new series! This book was filled with action and adventure from start to finish!

    Brutally taken

What a hair raising storyline to keep you entertained and turning pages.
She was a Marine taken prisoner, he was the Seal that rescued her.

    I really like this series

I don't think I have ever given such a low rating on this series and I have read many and I really enjoyed them all but this one. There was not really a moral to the story I guess you would say. Too much female military abuse and trauma. She and a few guys from her team are captured, her own team members treat her like crap, there is not a military team stand together no matter what going on with her team, she is the only one that is beaten, whipped, raped and her hand shredded with a hammer until her finger falls off and is cauterize with a hot poker. I really didn't understand this because it really didn't add anything to bring the story along or why one of the rescuing team member's wife had to die in childbirth, leaving all the other wives scrambling to take care of the baby. Why were the other 3 captured men that were rescued were killed after coming back to the states and the terrorist were after her next and who was behind all that. Too many unanswered questions and useless traumatic events that the story just didn't make sense. It was like the author was having a bad day and her therapy was getting it all out on paper.

I purchased this book because of the amazing reviews on Amazon and wow, they were all right. This book is fantastic, the story is so beautiful and full of emotions, I couldn't put this down until I ended. The characters are so real and so well written that you can easily find yourself or a friend reflected on them, you start to love and care for them. Amazing book!!! can´t wait to read more from Julia

I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for an enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own.

    Ugh

I finished the book because I wanted to know how the plot played out - not because I liked it. So many issues with the writing, characters, speech, events, ... just everything. I wish I had good things to say, I really do. But sitting here, thinking hard about it, nothing specific comes to mind. Plots were incomplete and weak, all of the characters were repetitive, unrealistic and messed up (in various ways, not personality-wise). It was very hard to get through this book.

Candance and her team were captured in Irac, the guys were playing around instead of taking things seriously and they got captured. But candance got the brunt of the deal. Archer and his team were sent in to rescue the team, but they didn't know one was a woman. She was in bad shape when they found her. But being back in the states wasn't normal. There's a lot of action, misunderstandings and kidnapping again. HEA

This story is about strength and bravery to overcome the odds. Candace was brutalized in a foreign country and Aiden alone with his Navy Seals coming to her rescue. Now she has to try and put her life back together.

    Great read

This would been totally a five of it wasn't for the explicit sex scenes. The story was solid and the characters were well done.

  • Julie Sherman

    Nice

This is a nice read from an author I've never read before. Her signing is good and the character are well defined. Its a sweet saver book.

    Not worth it

Too long, to much emotional drama, actual dangerous episode too quick. Unrealistic relationship after rape. I just had a hard time getting through it
