From the New York Times bestselling author of She Comes First and Be Honest—You're Not That Into Him Either comes a revolutionary 30-day program to detoxify and rejuvenate your love lifeThe premise is simple: When it comes to sex, dating, and relationships, sometimes we get in so deep the only way out is to start over again. For many of us—whether we're in a relationship, or actively dating in the hopes of finding that someone special—our love lives have become a source of toxicity. Sex Detox offers a revolutionary way to start fresh and take action.
Just as a physical fast will rapidly alter your metabolism and natural body chemistry, so too will a sex or dating detox impact your mind and body, enabling you to reset, rewire, and ultimately rejuvenate your love life. In this practical, life-changing guide, Ian Kerner lays out a friendly, achievable 30-day course of action that will help you turn off the noise, take a necessary pause, and rebuild your love life from the inside out.
If you're in a relationship, you'll learn to see your sexual history not just as a series of physical encounters, but rather as a unique and vital part of your identity, which needs to be nurtured and fed in healthy ways. You'll experience the "thrill of the chaste" and learn how to touch your partner with a renewed sense of passion and possibility. If you're single, the dating detox will give you a chance to step off the dating treadmill, catch your breath, and recover inner strength for the road ahead. You'll recalibrate your aspirations to connect to potential mates from a place of strength and self-knowledge.
Whether you're single or coupled, Sex Detox will enable you to achieve the relationship results you deserve.

I love this book. I have learned a lot not just about sexual desire but about ones own self and how others might think or have the same issues. I didn't follow the thirty day detox but I did make a lot of self notations for me! Oh and it improved my desires once again! I actually have a desire and lust once again. Damn you deployment for making me a prude but thank you Sex Detox for making me feel beautiful and sexy again! <3

If you're having trouble starting a journal and want to make it about sex this is a great tutorial.
I appreciated a good amount of this book. But it's weird to me that there were no PDF materials for audiobook. Especially since I think many of these prompts and almost-quizzes are quite good. I think it could really help people who have a dead/dying sex life. The second half may really help those who feel like they date and never get any further. The exercise to think of your big crushes, write their traits and look for patterns then thing of places you could meet more people with that trait or two is especially good.
to those ends I'm putting the 30 statements here for others (you must pick exactly 9 about your dream relationship/partner)
I want my partner to show me how hot they find me without my having to ask them
I want my partner to ache with desire for me
I want my partner to rip my clothes off and do me on the kitchen counter
I want to writhe with anticipation over a romantic dinner for two
I want my partner to talk dirty to me and make me wait until I’m ready to beg
I want to have crazy knock down drag out sex with my partner until we both pass out
I want my partner to seduce me
I want my partner to want to do with to/with me in bed that they never did with anybody else before
I want my pulse to race when my partner touches me
I want to get turned on by just the thought of having sex with my partner
I want my partner to be desperate at the thought of us breaking up
I want my partner to be jealous of other men/women
I want my partner to want to spend more time with me
I want my partner to tell me I’m the best lover they’ve ever had
I want there to be no secrets between us
I want my partner to promise we’ll be together forever
I want my partner to tell me I’m the love of their life
I want my partner to write me love letters, buy me little gifts, and leave me notes on the refrigerator
I want my partner to swear they’ll never love someone else
I want my partner to be so content they can’t even fantasize about another
I want my partner to make me laugh
I want to have great conversations with my partner and never get bored
I want my partner to stand by me in good times and bad
I want my partner to be trustworthy, loyal, and truthful
I want my partner to know how I’d react to something without me having to ask
I want my partner to remember birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions
I want my partner to really like my friends and family
I want my partner to be open to change
I want my partner to respect me and be supportive of my decisions
I want my partner to grow old with me
the first 10 are lust, second 10 are love professions, last 10 are attachment. -

Eh, this book was just ok. A bit disappointing....

I came looking for greatness in this book. Insights. But I missed them all. I saw nothing new. I have only found out that most of the things IO stand against are the very things this book stands for. Masturbation, homosexuality. Honestly, I just wish this was written by a Christian but since it is not so, it is not what I need in my life.

Sex Detox is a self help book geared toward singles or couples to improve their sex life. The authors method of improving a person's sex life is by performing a "sex detox" or in other words abstaining from sex for 30 days. While abstaining, a person performs some journaling and exercises to get more in-touch with the issues that might have caused the problems in the first place. The book is split into a section for singles and a section for couples. I read the section for couples, but did not actually perform any steps.[return][return]I think the idea of the book is a good idea. The idea of stepping back and taking a look at what might be causing the problems with a person's sex life without the complicating it with sex is a good idea, but not revolutionary. I think that the good part about the book is that it does allow a person who might not know how to work out their issues on their own, a structured way to accomplish it. I think the book could use a name and cover change. As it is, I don't think I would look at it twice, and therefore would miss some of the good info that is in the book.

I read the portion of this book which is for singles. It basically is a common sense approach to being inbetween relationships. The book advocates taking some time and examining what exactly it is that you want out of sex and relationships. A normal dopey self help book in other words.
