Friends (Mastering the Virgin #1) Reviews

  • Teddy Hannah-Drullard

Book 2 in the Smut Series: ‘Friends,’ not under any circumstances to be confused with the long-running television phenomenon staring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd, the only two white people who simply don’t age.

This story comes out of left field, starting as a voyeuristic BDSM club fantasy and evolving into a narrative of uncomplicated male friendship put to the test under the weight of a moral quandary (and during an economic crash, no less). As far as the jiggy goes I have only two criticisms: 1)the female orgasm simply cannot happen in three thrusts, and I am offended that this book would try to get away with it. 2) A “good figure” is subjective, and in the kink community is not nearly as important as compatible interests. Was I titillated? Maybe, but the men in this story came too fast for me to even begin to wonder.

    In sum:
Good writing, good story, bad sex — so far. This is only the first book in the series. Maybe part of the point is for the sex to get better as characters grow.

    A Decent Start

This is really just the setup to a fantastic series. I was only kinda "feeling it" when I finished this first installment but I'm glad I continued to the next part ...and the next and the next.... Things REALLY heat up and the stories take on a life of their own, adding suspense and intrigue to the heat.

Review of the Audiobook read by Brian Meslar.

Just the beginning of a story I won't continue

    Story: 2
    Performance: 2

The most important thing you need to know is that it is HOT. Of course the purpose is getting the reader horny, and I think it success (and I'm an homosexual reader).

I don't get why the author tried to use a two point of view narrative, it was just unnecessary. But there's isn't even a proper story so meh...

About the performance I am not even sure myself. Brian Meslar does a good performance for like 2 minutes and then a horrible performance for 6 minutes.
He even forgets which voice belongs to each character and sometimes he uses them indiscriminately.

The Best: It is very hot at first.

The Worst: It has a lot of blah blah blah, that doesn't even tells a story.

I read this because the audiobook was for free on the Play Store.

This was strange, at least. I am not completly sure how I feel about this book. I think I will give try to the next one and see if I want to continue.

I was gifted this book by the author, and am writing an honest review.

This book could be viewed/read as a prequel to the 'Buying a Virgin' series. It establishes the circumstances that brought James and Michael together in friendship, and how this friendship continued into both the sex environment/clubs and the financial industry.

The story ends as James starts to bid for Charlotte at the auction, because he is entranced by her beauty and because of the possibility that someone/some people he knows are low-lifes appear to be about to win the auction. [Mind you, prior to the auction, it also establishes Michael's view on the possibility that, considering what he is aware of James' preferences, Charlottes future week may not be any way better.]

Highly recommended, if you're after hot and steamy erotica.

I am reviewing the audio edition of this. It is really no more than a teaser or what to me is a preview. It does a good job of enticing me to buy the rest of the story. Just enough to let you know the characters a little and the lifestyle and then when it gets good it’s done. That is what it is suppose to be. I’m not one to read series that go on and on but I wanted to hear what the audio would come across as. It does a great job. The Narrator Brian Meslar does his job well. He made me want to listen to the story. There are a lot of people narrating books anymore but not a lot that brings to the story the possibility of reality. This is one of those. Now I just have to talk myself into not whining because there are so many parts to this series.

    Hot, hot, hot! 🔥

I purchased the whole series a while back but now have now been given the opportunity by the author of reviewing the audio version.

First let me say that I fell in love with Brian Metzler, he is imho an incredible narrator and really brings the characters to life.

Friends is an amazing introduction to the series and places me firmly in the Master James camp. This series is so much more than an Erotic Romance. At the heart it is about friendship and this first book gives a taster of what is to come.

I congratulate Simone on deciding to add narration to her books and on the choice of a narrator who only adds value to an already incredible series.

Thoroughly recommended to all Bookworms who like their Romance hot enough to melt a Kindle!

Warning: Contains scenes of bondage and BDSM, DP, and virgin auction. Not intended for audiences under 18 years old

Very well done and thoroughly enjoyable if short. The characters' voices were very distinct and I enjoyed seeing everything from both perspectives. This book gives us a little information into both James and Michael’s back story and builds the characters and motivations well. I’m intrigued to see where the story goes in the next instalment.

The audiobook did a great job of giving each of the two MC’s a good voice and the narrators did an awesome job with the book. Might not be to everyone’s tastes but I did rather enjoy this, it was very quick but with lots of steamy content that leaves us wanting to know more.

CONTENT WARNING: Strong Sexual Content, Slavery, BDSM, Cursing, (consensual) Sexual Violence

I voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book, I received from Simone Leigh, she had scripted the book, excellently. Friends is the First book in Mastering the virgin series, this is the intro of the series, where James, a middle aged dom and Michael, a sensual lover, meets at a sex club. Both notice their different style sex and Michael invites James when his needs a rough one, from then they become friends and until 7 years now they sharing their woman. This is an erotic menage dark romance, with cliffhanger. The book starts with a sexy note and leaves one hanging to know what is gonna happen when a 22 year old virgin, Charlotte enter into their life and what is her story.

I love this book and it's well needed. We get to see James and Michael's relationship from the starting point and revealing that James helped Michael expand his business. Also, mentioning James's ex wife and daughter. I'm not sure if his daughter was even mentioned, but I'm glad. I also, love the flow of how the story is brought up to date. Most of all I absolutely love how James and Michael hit it off from the beginning.

  • Shel Griffin

    This was good

I’m not accustomed to reading a book with two men on one woman. But like all the stories I have read from this author they are extremely entertaining. I like how she plugs this story into Charlotte’s plot. I’ve read them out of order but that’s okay since I still follow the story. All together I really like her work. Never judge a book by the cover! That is all I can say!

  • Sheila Brown

A great back story for the two men in Charlotte's life. I was reading Kirstie's tale and then went back to this one to see where she was in it and how much fun she had! Love the way the stories intertwine but you really need to make sure you read them in correct order. The sex is hot, so no one wants to get that mixed up!
BTW, just how old is James?!

  • Eliza Olsen

    Wow

The story pulled me in from the start. It was as if I was in the story unfolded right before my eyes . The words brought the scene alive in my mind . If your into menagé and slight BDSM then you'll enjoy this book . I think this book is more about the budding friendship rather then the sex at this point . I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes in the following books .

  • DeAnn

    Although!

Very little of the Virgin is in this segment of the series. This is more of a prequel that gives the backstory of how Matthew and James came to be partners in sexually gratifying women. They each have their talents and are able to use those well in sync with each other. It will get your motors running!

  • Frank Geimer

I loved the narration, he kept great pace and his vocal changes were spot on. The story itself was fascinating and very erotic. I can't wait to listen to the second installment. Full disclosure, I have already read the novel and I loved it so much that I had to listen to the audio. Great job on the transition!

  • Natalie Lewis

I don't know how many books there are to this, but this is another book where I actually read it in order even though I only plan on reading this book. It's just a complete smut book with two men taking care/having sexual relations with a woman and buying her from an auction to take her home and to claim her for a week, maybe too.

  • Kia

Wasn't a bad read. Michael admired James in a very cool way.

I even found myself laughing at most parts.

It's like I always wonder how bromances formed during BDSM .. this was my first read about and it wasn't cringy at all like most BDSM romances.

3 Stars because this book could have been way longer.

I honestly would rather read a 500 page book than 10 different books separately.

  • Cheryl Shearer

Love reading the other point of view

Love it when you get a chance to read a story, that you have really enjoyed, from the other point of view. Sets the scene for the background to Charlotte's story with James and Michael. Loved this and can't wait to read the next part.

  • Terry Guerra

    Masterfully exquisite

I enjoyed learning about the doms. The submissive and why she does what she does. This was very thrilling for me to read. I would recommend this book and the books to follow.

Emotional, a roller coaster ride to enjoy.

  • Laila Viking

A very well written short story with a BDSM theme that is well handled and described.
The characters are likeable and well described.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Ashley Hedden

Friends: A Tale of BDSM, Menage Erotic Romance (Mastering the Virgin Book One) by Simone Leigh was a good read. James is a Dom who meets Michael at a club and become an unlikely pair. Things were going good for them until James is given an opportunity to buy a virgin. This was a good quick read.

  • Rhonda Hicks

This book gives all the details of how James & Michael become friends, sex partners in their BDSM games at the club and ultimately the buying of Charlotte. This is a must read for anyone reading Simone's books. You won't be disappointed

  • Danna

    Not for me

Once again A sex book and nothing more. I didn’t understand the reason why those two guys will want to be partners in sex, they didn’t know each other and they are not gay.
