Excerpt:___
I turned to see a cloud of dust being kicked up in the distance. By the time I turned around again, the boy had vanished. As had my rifle. No matter what had spooked him, absconding with my only protection was poor form. Following an instinct I didn’t stop to think about, I dumped his food on my platter and hid his beneath mine. ___
In mere moments, five braves had infiltrated my camp. They were magnificent specimens of manhood who terrified me far more than the bear had. One ate the last of my dinner without shame. Another was busily removing the claws from the bear. A third ran his hands over my rawboned horses, his derision clear to see. ___
I sent a silent thanks to the livery owner who suggested the pair. Comanches were notorious horsemen and took great pride in their mounts. If they were to steal my horses, I’d be done for. As the two remaining braves stared at me with undisguised malice, I thought perhaps I was anyway.___
Sweat broke out on my brow as the steel of their glare pierced me. Those buckskinned storytellers had much to say about Comanches. The tales of their inventive modes of torture and murder swirled in my mind, causing a roaring in my ears.___
All five braves looked to the horizon as the noise I was hearing grew louder and the ground began to tremble. In a flash, they all leapt on their horses with skilled agility, then raced toward the swarm of wooly fur and horns flattening the prairie grass. Buffalo. ___
I didn’t stay to watch the hunt, although I’m sure it would have been memorable. I stashed my belongings and hitched up the horses as fast as I was able, relieved to vacate a campsite which had proven most inhospitable.

    Love the story.

This is the second short story I read from this author, I loved the first one. This one doesn't disappoint either, it is a great story. It is beautifully written, heartwarming and full of emotion. I have a new short story form this author on my reading pile, and I have the feeling I'll read more.

Thomas, is on his taking the long dangerous journey west to find his sister who he hasn't heard from in seven years. Kreitzman reels us into another short story that attaches us to it's characters just as quickly as the story ends, leaving us wanting more and wishing this author would gift us with a novella or novel. Following Thomas through Comanche land as he sees the unthinkable left behind tugged at my heart. The surprise made me smile and the end had me gasping "What? That's the end?" because I wanted to know more. What happens next? If you have seen the new Tom Hanks movie News of the World, this short story reminded me of it and I quite liked it! I recommend this short for any reader who finds themselves too busy to read and longing for a story.

As a fan of historical fiction, suspense, and domestic bonding, I love that I was able to get all three from this short story. Kreitzman created likable characters who you can't help but feel for, and also gave a strong sense of hope at the end. I can't really say much without giving anything away, but this was very enjoyable, and I was able to finish it in about 15 minutes!

    A well-written western
On the high from watching the Amazon Prime series 1883, I thought a western would be a nice change in genre. Hidden in the Green of Her Eyes takes place in the 1880s, it’s a fast-paced story about a man’s search for his sister. The journey is long, often tense, and delivers in this one-hour short read.

    Beautifully written.

I enjoyed this short story so much, I wanted it to keep going. This seems like the beginning of a series akin to Little House on the Prairie with a different dynamic.

    Heartbreaking, yet heart mending

What a beautifully told story! The author’s touch of humor was well done and her descriptions are vivid, painting a beautifully clear picture. Although I don’t usually do short stories/novellas, I will definitely be reaching for more of this authors writings!!

Nannette is such a talented author, I always enjoy her short stories. I will continue to beg for her to write a full length novel though because I always want more.

Hidden in the Green of Her Eyes was a cute, quick read and I thought the ending was lovely.
