Right off the bat (yes, pun intended) the illustrations are AMAZING. Bo the Bat is so cute and fluffy! And there's even a little jack o lantern decal on his smartphone... seriously, amazing work! On top of that, he wears a top hat?! What could be any cuter than that?! (Not real bats... obviously. Those guys are scary as heck).
Children hide in fear of our lovely friend Bo, which makes him rather sad since he wants to have fun with the kids!
There's so many quirky little parts of this book that makes me enjoy it:
1. The unicorn costume is amazing.
2. The random scarecrow handing out candy and hiding around a corner is hilarious.
3. The emotions on Bo's face are excellently illustrated to make you understand what he's going through.
4. There's an educational bit about what bats do and why they are important, which is a lovely addition to a book I thought was just going to be cute!
5. Bat facts at the end!
Negatives:
1. The rhymes felt very forced, but a lot of children's books are like that.
2. In reality, while bats are cool we really shouldn't touch them. They are rodents... buuuuut this is a children's book so as long as parents give their kids a good lesson about not touching wild animals, we should be fine as readers. It's an educational book for a reason.
Overall, this book was adorable and I think it's an excellent spooky tale for October. I'm sad it took me an extra month to jump on the Bo the Bat train, but I love this little book!!

The illustrations are so wonderful. While not part of the travel series, the book does include facts about mammals.

Quite cute and fun. I loved the artwork and the story with the facts about bats was simple to follow. I love bats and I think this book gets across some of the coolness of bats to the little ones being read to or reading it themselves.

Bo is a friendly bat who just wants to make friends, but his local kids are scared of him - when all he wants to do is to go trick or treating with them, so he decides to tell these kids all about the amazing things bats can do, so they won't be afraid anymore.
A colourful and happy short kids book.
The author has also included some fun bat facts for kids to learn at the end of the book.

Does not say that although bats do good things you shouldn't be "friends" with them and touch them.
This book has okay illustrations and the reading rhythm is good, but there is too much emphasis put on being friends and being friendly with bats. Yes, bats do good things for the environment and you should respect them and shouldn't harm them, but they can carry rabies and now it is known that even a scratch can transfer rabies, or getting infected saliva in your mouth, eyes, or on abraised skin. The book tells children not to "run away scared", and that is very bad advice. There is a note about rabies in the back of the book for parents, but children many times read by themselves and parents don't always read the notes in the back of picture books. Plus, it will be confusing to kids after reading the book to turn around and tell them they shouldn't be friendly with bats and they should stay away. -

A short read for the parent (yay!). The illustrations are beautiful, and the story sweet. It also rhymes so it’s fun to “singsong” the story. -

Bo wears a top hat and he is great but children are scared of him. He loves to chat and he wants to go trick-or-treating. He wants to show them bats are great and they don't have to be scared of him. Do they believe him? Does he get to go trick-or -treating with them.
This book is meant for 3-8 year olds. I think all ages should see the wonderful illustrations that are over the top beautiful. The rhyming story is gpod for listening to and for picking out site words. (Site words are words they kust have to learn like the.) Happy Reading/Listening!! -

They show you many things a bat can do that are cool and how they help get rid of pesty insects before they bite us.

A beautifully illustrated picture book
My granddaughter loved this colorful picture book about Bo the Bat. The story is perfect to read with young children and discuss how Bats can help us. It has always been a scary thing when it comes to Halloween and Bats. This beautiful book shines a new light on these wonderful creatures in a positive way. Loved this one! -
Bo is an adorable character!
My kids and I, have always been afraid bats, but this story changed our minds. Bo is such an adorable character, that you can’t help but like him! This book is relatable, and educates kids about the benefits of bats. We loved the rhyming story and illustration! -
A very nice book for young readers not just to inform them about bats but also to educate them about not judging by appearances.

Sweet book about a misunderstood little bat who just wanted to play with the kids but they were afraid of him. Bo the Bat teaches the kids all about bats so they won't be afraid anymore and will play with him. Great for facts learning and Halloween reading.

Enjoyed the illustrations. Bo Bat tries to get others to like him by explaining the good things he does that help them. Like eat bugs. Kids will learn a few things about bats. Recommended. -
It's Halloween and Bo the Bat is out trick or treating. Everyone is scared of him and won't talk to him. He tells them about himself and they realise he's a nice bat.

A very awesome book cover, great colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s Bat Halloween adventure story book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s Bat Halloween adventure movie, an animated cartoon, a classroom PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Bo the Bat is a cute new nonfiction picture book about, you guessed it, bats. In rhyming text, the storyline follows Bo as he attempts to teach young children about bats so they won't be so afraid of him. For example, he explains echolocation (though I wish the book would have used the actual word because we taught this one in kindergarten), spreading pollen, and how many pesky bugs are eaten by bats. The back matter includes more details for young readers to explore. This is one book I would have enjoyed added to my "batty" shelves for our kindergarten bat unit. And the illustrations of Bo are just too stinkin' cute!

Bo the Bat is better than alright!!!
The illustrations were absolutely amazing and perfectly suited for Bo the Bat and all his new friends he made. He didn't understand in the beginning why his difference made him appear "scary " to the children in the story. Once he shows them how his uniqueness is awesome, they see him in a different light. They want to be his friend. Being different, unique is not a bad thing. In fact, being YOU is a wonderful thing. Don't let any obstacles stand in your way, be proud of who you are and persevere. You will be surprised how many will like you for YOU. They just need to get to know you. I highly recommend this great book. ~Mandy -
Alma Hammond delights everyone with a wonderful new Halloween story about learning that everything is not as scary as they appear in "Bo The Bat." The story provides several interesting facts about bats and how useful they are to nature. Hammond once again delivers a great rhyming scheme to allow the readers to stay interested in the wonderful content on each page. Zuzana Svobodova also knocks the illustrations out of the park with appealing colors and Halloween spirit. I recommend this great read for children aged 3 to 6 years old.
