It’s been a year since the events in Niagara Falls.vThings have generally gotten better in the wasteland and civilization is starting to take hold along the rivers.
No one knows where the Librarian is, or if he’s alive, but there’s a man and a mastiff running passengers from Hannibal to Cairo that might have an idea as to what really happened.
Life is starting to return to normal along the river if you don’t count the pirates and the sea monsters. But all of that is about to change and the end of the world may never be the same again.
The Duck & Cover Adventures continue in Book 5, Crossroads of the Apocalypse.
It’s still the end of the world as you’ve never known it.

Comedy plus post apocalyptic shenanigans? Yes please!! Definitely one of my favorite series. I sure hope there's more to come! I'll have to try Junkers next.
-
This has been my favorite in the series, aside from the first book. The humor is fully present and the action is well done. These 2 ingredients are a recipe for success. I'm ready for the next one.

I have read the first four books of this series in order and loved them so much that I rated them all five stars. This one, however, had some pretty serious flaws, mainly with editing.
The book has rare homophone and punctuation errors, but there are many errors in sentence structure that seem to be where one sentence was partially overlaid by another, giving the impression that some editing was started but not finished. Here are three examples:
• You can’t be the he’s dead.
• “They wanted “ talking was tiring at this point. “They wanted my endorsement basically.”
• “I have done things that I have put things in my mouth that I’m not proud of.”
Like the previous four books, this one is full of action, suspense, and unexpected plot twists. However, in this case, the plot seems to collapse under its weight. If you don't want me to spoil it for you, don't read the following.
So while the story was engaging and entertaining, the book has the vibe of an afterthought and of having been rushed to publication, unlike the others. -
Absolutely loved it. I thought I might be a little lost since I read book 4 well over a year ago, but there's something of a recap in the beginning that fits into the story very well.
This series has one of my favorite characters; Jerry, aka the Librarian. A true hero who does what's right just because it's what's right. He has no super powers, just a whole lot of book smarts and a desire to help. -
Duck and cover Adventure book.
Brilliant, well waited for. Apocalyptic turn of events. Marauders, pirates, talking dogs. And the Librarian. The world turns to the rivers, for survival. As with all the Duck and Cover books, hilariously funny how survivors of the apocalypse live in the new world. -
Always a fun read... I wasn't sure where the story was heading throughout much of the book, it felt a bit meandering (yet in a funny, enjoyable way), but the ending was fun and i really like the new direction the story is now taking. Looking forward to the next book.

I love this series. What a fun adventure.

Nooo! No no no this can't be the end!
There had better be a #6 coming out. -
For a finisher I really found this book the weakest of the series.... the main characters were quite annoying and I found the humour really forced..it had the potential to really steer the story but fizzled out like a cheap firework at the end.. The librarian has finally returned his books...

I was excited to see the release of this book pop up in an email I received from Amazon - so I immediately got it for my Kindle and started it as soon as I finished the book I was currently reading. I love this series - and this book in particular is one of the best so far. It's got pretty much everything I've loved about the previous books - the world building, the post-apocalyptic setting that doesn't seem all that far fetched, the actually-make-you-smile or LOL humor sprinkled throughout, and just the right mix of action to story. What was really great about this book was the revelation toward the end that, along with being really interesting, completely opened the series up and set the stage for (I'm hoping) a number of additional books. I wasn't sure how much longer Wallace would be able to milk the wandering do-gooder in a post-apocalyptic wasteland thing - to his credit though, he found a way that didn't seem fake, flawed, or forced in the least. Can't wait for the series to continue!

Thrills. Comic action. Hard to put down. When last we saw him, the Librarian was going to his death over Niagara Falls after defeating Invictus. The world is searching for any sign of him, but none was found. Since that time, civilization has been slowly returning to the devastated world; to such an extent that movies have returned, one of the main characters being the Librarian. However, the world still needs a Post-Apocalypse Nomadic Warrier to do some clean-up, and one appears in the form of a female warrior and her two dogs, one of which talks. This warrior takes a job and is soon boating down the Mississippi with a group of travelers. Captain Mike knows the river and has contacts in every town along the way enabling the trip to occur, but there are pirates and river monsters along the way and there are rumors of a new threat from a horde called the Penance. This all leads to thrilling adventures and a host of conspiracies. The story is a worthy follow-up to the previous adventures.

Humorous and action packed
Another great novel by Ben Wallace.
The librarian returns in the latest novel and finds trouble and love even in retirement.
There are new bad guys and a bigger threat to the world as it starts to get its feet under it, not to mention a new love interest.
If you like humor and action, you will enjoy all of Benjamin Wallace's work. -
Grin a Minute Adventure
I love these books not only do we have action but we have a realistic and wishful future where dogs talk and just about anything happens, resulting in many a grin and chuckle from the reader. Old characters and new join together for a well written story. -
Fun series!
I'm a sucker for a good post-apocalyptic nomadic warrior story. These are fun. I hope the next one arrives soon. -
These books are just too much fun. Oh, and I’m naming my next boat, Your Mom.

If you liked the first,
Then you'll like this one. It is, for my money, the best in the series since the first novel. I enjoyed every page. -
A lot of fun
The librarian is trying to be incognito as a riverboat captain running up and down the Mississippi. But, you know what happens to the best made plans, right? -
I love this series
Just good storytelling. Not super serious, not YA. A great main character. I hope this series goes on for a long time. Thank you Mr. Wallace
