  I read a little of this almost everyday. There isn’t much to say except wow. I miss her as our First Lady. She is an incredible person who I admire very much.

  Similarly compared to the poised and poignant First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onannis and voted the most admired woman in 2018 by a Gallup poll, former First Lady Michelle Obama saturates her wisdom and knowledge on the pages of this book, edited by Carol Kelly-Gangi, esteemed editor of several non-fiction text that depict famous women. Both the front and back jacket shows the first family marching with the late great Representative John Lewis as they marched in reverence to those who lost their lives in the fight for freedom and equality. The book gives Mrs. Obama’s views about life in America, as an African American woman, and the ideals of “freedom, justice, and equality” that she deeply believes in. The contents of the book chronicles Mrs. Obama’s life through words of wisdom in topics such as education and empowerment, the 2008 Presidential Election, family, happiness and success, race and racism, speaking to young people, women and men, First Lady, politics, etc. In response to the film screening of Hidden Figures, the movie that chronicles three African American women who broke the barriers of working in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at NASA, Mrs. Obama stated “whether it’s climate change or cancer or ending hunger, by seeking out the most talented, passionate, skilled people we can find and putting them to work, regardless of what they look like or where they come from or how they pray or who they love, that’s how we become the best America we can be” (December 15, 2016).
  This book of ‘essential wisdom’ is one that should be on the bookshelves of every American family. That’s young and matured individuals. To concur with the Google Books review, this is a book to “celebrate the grace, style, warmth, and intelligence of Michelle Obama.” Readers can be intrigued and entertained with the quotes that come from guest appearances, speeches, interviews and lived experiences that stem from her humble beginnings on the South Side of Chicago to her historic eight years in the White House.

  I love Michelle Obama but this book was just fine.
  It’s a conglomeration of her quotes edited into chapters according to subject matter. Does the editor get all the profits? This is confusing to me since they are Michelle’s words. IDK. It was fine. I love Michelle Obama and miss her

  A remarkable compilation of Michelle's speeches over the years. This book is a source of inspiration and comfort I hope to carry around with me in the future. It adds structure and context that her YouTube videos cannot always capture. I received it as a gift and am so thankful that I did!
