A week in the dark has them seeing everything in a new light.
Kayla:
Accepting help from anyone makes my skin crawl.
With my eyes bandaged for a week, I have no choice.
When a huge tough guy shows up instead of my usual nurse, I don’t know how to act.
But he cares for me so sweetly, I could learn to get used to it.
Every time he touches me, I feel utterly cherished. Treasured.
He’s strong, thoughtful, and achingly seductive.
I can’t wait to see his face.
To hopefully be his girlfriend instead of his patient.

Liam:
Although I can’t see her eyes, I fall for Kayla’s lovely soul.
Her clever, delicate way of viewing the world. (So to speak.)
I’d do anything to keep her safe and healthy.
And even more to touch her silky skin.
Kiss those perfect lips.
Even though I know once she looks at me, she’ll want to run.
All I can do is care for her as long and as much as she’ll let me.

This odd, quiet shy girl / alpha male romance is a standalone novel.
No cliffhangers, no cheating, and a sweet HEA.

I looved the beginning. Or the first two thirds maybe. It was adorable, hot, had some interesting ideas about art and good dialogue. Plus the chemistry between the charaters?! The chemistry was over the charts and well written.

“My angle is that art is often used to display the subconscious mind. So as art has changed through the ages, it loosely mirrors the underlying thoughts of humanity at the time. Sometimes it’s even specific from country to country, or city to city. People paint their thoughts, sometimes unconsciously.”

    I mean, this sounds genius!

But then something happened at the last part. A couple of artificial conflicts were thrown in, the dialogs became so sugar-coated... The beautifully built story fell apart somehow.
The last three chapters and two epilogues were kind of unnecessary, IMO, it would've been much better without.

I'd still read it again I guess. It was just so beautifully made and well written, and I loved the characters, so...

    Cute read

    Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
    Trope: protector
    Angst: 😱😱😱
    Smexy: 🔥🔥

Super cute, short and sick novella. A nice palette cleanser between heavier reads, lol.

Great story. Liam and Kayla are put together due to medical reasons and with the help of each other, they are able to overcome their personal demons. Loved the chemistry and attraction that they had for each other. Never disappointed when I pick up this author’s work.

I loved this story. I want to keep Liam. He can be my new book boyfriend! This story has a lot of feels. It also made you think about perception and how we judge people without getting to know them first.

Kayla is very independent and loathes accepting help from anyone. After having eye surgery and being blind for a week, she has to give in and get help. A large man shows up one day instead of her usual nurse, she is nervous at first. But there is something about him that makes her feel safe and cared for. Kayla begins to think that she could get used to how he cares for her, touches her and makes her feel important. She would like to have more and can't wait until she can see his face.

Liam meets Kayla when her nurse asks him to cover for her. As soon as he meets her he feels a connection and wants to take care of her. She is sweet, caring and so clever. Liam knows that he would do anything to help her be happy and healthy. He wants more, but he knows that as soon as she can see him, it will all be over. Until then, he is going to take care of her as much as she will let him.

The way that Liam and Kayla fall in love is so sweet. It made me sad that Liam felt that his looks would scare Kayla off. Liam's reaction to Kayla's reaction to seeing his face for the first time was kind of funny. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

    Great book.

You have kayla an independent women who hates to rely on anyone but she has no choice.

Then there is liam who is muscaler guy who loves to take care of women and a big softie who thinks he looks like a monster.

I really enjoyed this book for the romance for the brother sister realtionship shown. Liam is my first book crush in 2020 he is just such a nice guy without being made to be to perfect.

Can't wait to read more from haley travis and keeping note for the month of romance books.

This book did not work for me. I wanted to like it so much more than I did. I didn’t understand the H’s insecurity. He had tattoos and 1 scar on his face and suddenly he was a monster? Ummm. It also was not clear why the heroine was so determined to be independent and “not depend on a man”. There were zero stakes. Also the miscommunication at the end was just not it. Nope.

    Friends to lovers
Forbidden?? (Not really. Didn’t like what the author tried to do with this).
    Forced proximity
Heroine had surgery on her eyes so she was blind for 5 days.

Wow that was so cute I loved Liam and Kayla from the start I was hooked. This had really nice build up, good conflict and a hea so what more can I ask for because wow it was really good! The only thing I do wish we could’ve had is a another epilogue but the two epilogues at the end were really good I just felt we could’ve had another one to really tie up the story! But otherwise a good lunch time read and I loved the chemistry between these two so yeah, go check it out!

I am not sure that I even know where to begin writing a review for this because it is truly an awesome experience.

I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing.
The author had a tremendous ability in telling the story that had me wanting this book to go on and on.

So, the slow burn in this story was hot.... And so was the whole beauty and the beast dynamic, which I love. I can't rate it a 5 stars because quite frankly the writing is somewhat simplistic, and also, the last extra chapters were somewhat dull. But a seriously good read nonetheless.

  • Ioana

Just perfect! Not too long, not too short, beautifully written, charming heroine, fantastic hero, fabulous scenes. Loved how understanding and empathetic the hero was, his character is the core of the whole book.

  • Deborah Stewart

    Fab hot romantic story

I loved this hot romantic story. The uniqueness of having a man as a caregiver for a woman was wonderful! Blossoming feelings soon take over and the rest is history!

  • Rochelle

I loved this lighthearted romance. The storyline was captivating, entertaining and really sweet. Loved the characters, who were quirky, shy, self conscious and completely adorable. The story moved at a good pace and was a smooth read. A great storyline and overall a feel good story.
