Pacific Flyway: Waterbird Migration from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego Reviews

This book is very well done. Beautiful photography, excellent informative captions, and well-written, clear text that is easy to understand for a non-birder ;) I was very impressed by the evident thoughtfulness put into constructing the narrative as a combination of text, photos, and captions, and the high quality of the writing especially. It is a definite skill to write for a lay audience!

I read about half the book, and skimmed through the pictures and captions on the rest. I learned a lot about the geographic journey and the physiology of migration!

My only minor complaint is that the format is relatively wide so you kind of have to move it back and forth to read the text (which is laid out in a readable manner, fortunately) -- but the benefit of the width is that the pictures can be much bigger! So, just a tradeoff, that they probably chose correctly to highlight the pictures to their best advantage :)

This is an outstanding book about waterbird migration on the Pacific coast, filled with current research about their fascinating migrations. I took pages of notes of unexpected facts about specific bird species, how they survive during their migration, and where they go. Clearly we need to focus internationally on protecting the varied habitats essential to these birds' survival. The text is beautifully written and the numerous photos are superb!

This is mostly a photo book, but every single photo is so stunning, and the quality and layout so well done that it's worth checking out. The text accompanying the photos is equally well done and informative while also being poetic.

This is a beautiful book that explores how migratory birds cover such great distances across the Pacific Flyway - their diets, flight patterns, the places where they stop along the way. There are hundreds of beautiful photos, I really enjoyed this book.
