He needs a wife.
I need a husband.
It’s just temporary… what could go wrong?

I’ve always wanted the fairy tale wedding. Not for the princess perfect dress or big party, but for Papa.

My grandfather. The only father figure I’ve ever known.
It’s his dying wish to walk me down the aisle.
Gee, no pressure.

But I can grant that wish...
I just have to fake being head over heels in love with Ross Andrews, my best friend's big brother whom I embarrassingly crushed on all through high school.

Handsome. Knockout sexy. Arrogant jerk extraordinaire.
Our childish pranks and tit-for-tat battles were legendary. Then I grew up.
Not that he ever noticed.

I know it’s a terrible idea, and we’re both in over our heads.
It could be the wedding of a lifetime or a total disaster.
How do we make it to the altar without killing each other first?

Or without falling in love for real?

My Big Fat Fake Wedding is a full-length romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger.

ღ . I’d love reading about Violet & Ross’ story & how I just love Lauren Landish’s books & always are looking forward to her next book …… Oh how I just love enemies to lover’s books.

Most would say, It’s the Italian way, but they are wrong, it just the way Violet’s big heart works & & her loyal family & friends.
Without that loyal to family & friends, she wouldn’t be in this crazy situation that she is now. Oh, we can’t forget about her scheming bff (Abigail)

Ross-he wears so many hats, he that sexy older brother of my bff (Abigail), & he also my nemesis, he has tormentor me since I was like 10 years old, or maybe it was younger- I can’t remember it’s been that long… I hated him. He is boy I lusted after before I even really knew what desire was. The fake fiancé that I’m going to marry. He is My worst nightmare come to life, Cuz I think that I’ve fallen in love with my enemy/fiancé…..

    ‘Let the games begin.” 😈😈

Sigh. It was going so well

I liked this until the 70% mark when Colin did his thing, after which it devolved into chaos. I wasn’t impressed with the plot twist, or the manner in which Violet and Ross handled it.

  • Anne OK

Well, it's a big stretch to even begin to get near reality in my opinion. Way over the top -- even ridiculous at times. But funny at times, too. More of a three-ring circus atmosphere. Didn't really fit the whole scenario. I really felt nothing for the characters. The sex was hot -- but nothing deep and meaningful and a total recycle at every encounter. In fact, I pushed my way through -- even skimming at times (and I hate the idea of skimming). Not one I'd ever recommend or re-read. Just didn't really work for me.

Violet just wants to get married before her grandfather's heart gives out so he can walk her down the aisle and be happy. She wants to make his last days as happy as possible but the man she's currently seeing dumps her and leaves her wondering what she's going to do. She never loved him but still wants papa to see her happy.

Ross is a huge playboy and his father has had enough when something bad for the company ends up in the papers. He tells his son to settle down. So he's in the market for a fake girlfriend so he can ride this until everything blows over.

So with a little help, these two decide to use each other for their plans. They didn't think it would end with a lot of drama and tears at the wedding. But at the end of the day love conquers all.

The writing is perfectly fine. It flowed pretty fast, there were a few hang ups but nothing that ruins the story at all! The characters are too funny and I loved watching them come together. I didn't like the fart stuff because that's just nasty but thankfully it's only a wee bit of the book. Really a tiny spot but it's still gross and I didn't like it.

Other than that this was a good romance book that had me laughing out loud for most of it.

4.5 stars for the narration, 3.5 stars for the story.

The marriage of convenience trope is a difficult one to pull off in contemporaries so you'll need a fair amount of suspension of disbelief for this, in which the heroine decides to get married so that her dying grandfather can walk her down the aisle, and the hero needs a fake girlfriend to get his father off his back about growing up and settling down.

Said H/h - Ross and Violet - have actually known each other for years (Ross' sister Abby is Violet's best friend), since school, when Ross used to tease Violet mercilessly about her "chicken legs" and Violet hid her crush on him, giving back as good as she got. As adults, they've not had a lot to do with each other, but when Violet's fiancé dumps her two weeks before the wedding, it's Abby who has the idea of getting her and Ross together because they're - kind of - in the same boat.

What follows is sexy and fun as that long-ago attraction on Violet's part re-surfaces, and Ross finally comes to his senses and actually sees Violet for who she is and falls head over heels. Along the way, they've got to convince both their families that they're in love and getting married for real - which turns out to be surprisingly easy because with each day that passes, they're falling more and more deeply for each other.

The spoke in the wheel and ensuing drama near the end is a bit over the top, but doesn't go on for too long - which kind of made it all feel rather inconsequential, really.

I admit I picked this one up simply because of the narrators; Joe Arden is someone I really enjoy listening to, but given most of his output is in a genre I don't listen to all that often I don't listen to him much; Carly Robins is one of the few female narrators out there who doesn't make me want to gnash my teeth and run away screaming. Both give excellent performances, differentiating effectively between leads and secondary characters, and doing a good job voicing characters of the opposite sex. They're both highly accomplished romance narrators so the sex scenes are really well done (Joe + dirty talk = *fans self*) and they're also great at conveying the quieter emotional moments, too.

Not something I'll be rushing to listen to again, but it made a change :)

This is the first book that I have read from Ms. Landish even though I have several on my Kindle and I am not sure why it took so long for me to read her work. I loved this book. It was an enemies to lovers’ romance which I love and add humor and heat to this book and it was a perfect read. Violet is in need of a fake husband and Ross is in need of a fake girlfriend so they decided to use each other. The chemistry between then was smoking hot. Will this fake marriage be able to turn into something real? You will need to read it to find out. I don’t think that you will be disappointed.

Grab an extra belt to hold your sides together because this book will make you roar with laughter. Violet and Ross are off the charts hot, intense, and hilarious. This book brings together the best of enemies to lovers banter with a touching reason to get fake shacked up. Lauren Landish rocks. FREE in Kindle Unlimited!

  • Jeeves Reads Romance

Light, funny and a little over the top, My Big, Fat, Fake Wedding is 100% rom com goodness. In true Lauren Landish fashion, there is more dirty steam than is typically seen in this genre, but there are also plenty of laughs. Our couple have bickered and pranked each other for years, so the banter is great and there is a definite light feel to the whole book.

The story follows Violet, a woman with a large Italian family. She loves her Papa, and his health has been declining recently. He’s always said how much he looks forward to giving her away at her wedding, and she wants to make that dream come true for him. Initially, Violet goes about the process the right way, reconnecting with an old flame and getting engaged. But when that falls through, she is left scrambling with two weeks before her wedding date - and no groom. Enter Ross, her best friend’s older brother. They’ve been frenemies of sorts for years, bickering and pranking each other but also connected by family. Ross is in need of a steady plus one to make himself look more respectful to the board of directors at the family business, and while getting married is above and beyond what he had planned, he sees Violet as the right person to move forward with. As the wedding approaches, they tell everyone what a whirlwind romance they’ve had, and it all starts to ring true.

The writing here is great, making me laugh repeatedly and root for this couple. I will admit that I was a little slow to warm up to the story because it felt over the top - Violet is literally swapping out the groom at her wedding with two weeks on the countdown. For that reason, I wasn’t sure that I liked her at first, but she definitely won me over before the end. I had absolutely no complaints about Ross from the start; he is a great guy who may have been blind to his feelings for Violet, but he makes up for lost time in a big way. If you’re looking for a funny and steamy rom com, this is certainly a good option. It’s lighter than any book I’ve read by Landish before, and easy to get lost in.

My Big Fat Fake Wedding by Lauren Landish a five-star read that will take you down the aisle. What a fantastic story, this will have you desperate for a little Italian Nana and an Italian brood to go with her, I love my own Nana and she is so special to me much like Nana and Papa are to Violet, grand-parents are always so much more special that parents I’ve found. Lets face it we would all do something crazy for a dying wish for one we love, so I couldn’t fault Vi for her reasons forgetting hitched, and good on her for not fighting for Colin, he just makes me want to spout some bad words in Italian. Lauren Landish writes a great Romance and will make you fall in love with all of her characters.

  • Sissy's Romance Book Review

My Big Fat Fake Wedding by Lauren Landish is the story of Violet and Ross.
Violet was raised by a single mother and her grandparents. Violet's grandfather had always dream of walking her down the wedding aisle. With his health in decline she feels great pressure to give him that wish and even went so far as plan on marrying a old flame. But then he canceled two weeks before the wedding. Enter Ross, Violet's best friend's brother who always tease her and they have a frenemies type relationship. Ross needs to clean up his image to his family's business board of directors. So deal is made between the two to each to help the other but then the fun start.
Loved their story and Ms. Landish's writing.

This is the ultimate perfect romantic comedy written this year! Violet needs to get married fast, because she wants he grandfather to walk her down the aisle. However, he fiance cancels two weeks before the wedding and she needs a groom fast!!! Ross is her BFF's brother and he needs to clean up his image and act fast. Can these two people fill the void for the other to save face and not get hot and bothered by the other????You have to read to funny, hot story that will entertain you. I honestly volunteered to review a copy of this story.

  • Brooklyn JoJo

Disappointing - way too ridiculous and OTT. Could’ve been a lot better if the author just toned down the craziness as it had the bones of a good romance.

  • Jacqueline's Reads

4 Cute no muss, no fuss stars

I’ve seen this book trend on amazon for sometime and I love Carly Robins voice and Joe Arden is pretty good so why not I thought.

It’s a light, airy, no fuss kind of book you can leave in the background while you work. It will put a smile on your face.

There really isn’t anything out of the ordinary about the story, it’s about two people marrying for convenience. The book is more about the getting married part, than being in a fake marriage and I was okay with it.

Getting married is stressful enough, but when you thrown in crazy family, demanding parents and secret growing attraction for each other, well it’s a crazy funny mess.

I think the relationship was more on the back-burn for me in the story. I was more interested in the people around the couple getting them to get married, than the marriage itself. I mean, when the Heroine buys a wedding dress a size too small so she goes on a crash diet, well I was laughing my socks off because it’s so hilarious.

I also like that there was a bit of steam in the book, which you hardly get these days!

Overall, funny, light and perfect for being coped up at home for the past 6 weeks!

My Big Fat Fake Wedding was a fantastic story, but I have to say I wasn't sure about it to start with. Still, I soon changed my mind, and found it to be an utterly absorbing and entertaining read. And I loved the enemies to lovers/fake engagement trope this story delivers. Even though there was a great deal more to this tale than enemies falling in love and fake engagements. Including complex characters, family drama, humour, emotion and heat; and for me, that's what made it so delightful and pleasing to read. And I would definitely recommend it to others. As it was such a well written fun, engaging story, that perfectly blended all those different elements really well.

As the title might suggest, this book is fun, flirty and fantastic! There is plenty of sweetness, humor and emotion as Violet sets out (with the best of intensions) to make sure one of her grandfather's biggest wishes gets granted. I liked Violet a lot. She seemed real and relatable. I could so easily picture myself in her place and I think most readers will to. The things we will do to try to make those we love happy are sometimes crazy but they usually come straight from the heart. I found Ross pretty swoony and the chemistry between these two was very steamy. A simply delightful read! This is my honest, freely posted review.

    HEA

This is a tight and sweet HEA, custom made and wrapped in a pretty bow. It’s cute, hot and just superfluous enough to allow you to escape for a couple of hours.

    Pros:
    - Truly, is sweet.
    - Love Abigail, we all need a friend like her.
    - Childhood Enemies That really aren’t.
    - Family love.

    Cons:
    - Colin... but over the top?
    - Not sure how that grand gestures at the end was really, in truth, a grand gesture?

4.5 Stars. I really enjoyed this book. It was laugh out loud funny in several parts. Then it had me fighting back tears in another part. The narrators did a great job. I'll add more of a review later when I have more time.

It was decent until the reception “twist” with Colin. The plot was just poorly executed.
    1. The idea of her jumping from one fiancée to the next in such a short timeframe and her super traditional Italian family somehow accepting it just wasn’t plausible.
    2. Even if it wasn’t fake, the fact that Violet literally just replaced Colin with Ross but kept the same wedding date and the same plans would be suspicious.
    3. Ross has a pretty crappy family. His mother is a snobby pushover who did nothing to support or defend her son when his father was pretty much telling him he’s worthless and a mistake for 90% of the book.
His father was just absolutely horrible. I can’t even begin to describe how nasty he was from the beginning to the end and all the shitty things he said to his son that no father should ever say. The writer tried to redeem him in the end and paint him as a concerned dad who just wanted to push his son to grow up but at that point it wasn’t believable.
Abi was a decent sister (I guess when you compare her to Courtney) but she was more of a best friend to Violet than a supportive sister to Ross.
Courtney was probably the the worst and most annoying sister I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading about. Her character was just unnecessarily rude, inappropriately nosey and did nothing for the story except pile more shit on top of what Ross was getting from his dad. The not so subtle hints of tension between her and Ross’s best friend/assistant lead me to believe she’s got her own book coming.
    4. The “twist” at the reception was 100% predictable, unnecessary and unrealistic. I could tell when the reception scene kept dragging on that something was going to ruin it. Colin left too quietly and Abi and Violet literally spoke about the wedding scheme in full detail SECONDS after Colin “left”. Neither one was near the door to make sure he didn’t come back. No one saw him at the reception to stop him? He somehow walked into the reception hall for a high profile wedding with no invitation and walked past everyone to get on stage and had not only enough time to make a speech, but to also play a recording of them talking about the scheme... really? No security? The mysterious Wedding planner? DJ couldn’t cut the mic?

The main saving grace of the book was Violet’s family. They were more than a little dramatic and overly harsh when the truth came out but you can feel genuine love between them all unlike Ross’s family. Wish I hadn’t wasted the time on this one.

Lately Violet's grandfather's been feeling his age. His short stint in the hospital has Violet feeling it too. Violet's papa is her entire world; he's the only father figure she has ever known. After a doctor confirms her worst fears, Violet knows she has to make his last remaining months his best. Papa had always planned to walk Violet down the aisle and give her away to her husband to be, but things haven't turned out the way he had hoped. Violet decides that come he!! or high water, she is going to make that happen. Up until now, Violet has been consumed with her career, so where to begin? Husband, right. She's going to need one of those. She's come close, but some things just aren't meant to be.
When plans don't work out the way she'd hoped, Violet dusts herself off and moves forward. Time is running out and she needs a new plan asap.
Ross Andrews, Violet's best friend's older brother/arch nemesis in high school/hot as sin and totally out of Violet's league, or so she thought right up until she learns that he's in need of a serious girlfriend, looks like a good candidate, according to her best friend Abigail.
Now to convince their families. Violet and Ross, a real couple? Could it be they've been overlooking what was, for years, right in front of them? Never noticing how perfect they were for each other? When lines become blurred, all bets and schemes are off.
THIS BOOK...WOW ! I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN ! NOT THE USUAL BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER, FAKE MARRIAGE. THIS BOOK WAS SO MUCH MORE. AMAZING COMPLEX CHARACTERS THAT WILL DRAW YOU INTO THEIR WORLD AND HAVE YOU CHEERING THEM ON ! 🔥💕I ABSOLUTELY LOVED ROSS AND VIOLET💕🔥
    I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ! ! !

    Loved It

This was one of those books, I couldn’t put down to do the basics like eating and sleeping. The dual point of view presentation had me ping ponging between Violet and Ross and enjoying every step of the way.

Violet’s family (both by blood and friendship) were so engaging. Special nod to Nana and Papa whose fierce love was a joy to read.

Abigail and Courtney were such wonderful younger sisters. For once, we see both families as truly loving and wanting the best for the protagonists. It was awesome.
