I am bound to the dark... and the dark is bound to me.

No one can know what I am. But this secret I carry, it isn't an easy one to hide. It burns within me. It changes me each and every day, making the line between me and the ghosts I love smaller and smaller.

Yet no secret can remain hidden forever.

The day my brother dies changes everything. I'm commanded to attend the Royal Fae Academy, a place that wouldn't welcome someone like me. But as much as I fear what will happen next, I have to find my brother's killer. No matter the cost.
Danger haunts my every step. Someone here wants me dead. And my brother's three best friends are determined to protect me from my enemies. Only, they have no idea what I am. Or what I'm capable of doing.

And even though I care for them, and I feel they care for me, I have to keep them away.

Because the dark is where I belong. But these men? They belong in the light.

Even if they don't know it yet.

RAVAGE is the first book in a trilogy of steamy reverse harem romances. These books have a spooky edge, hot scenes, and a mystery to unravel. So if you love paranormal romances with tough heroines and protective men, you may want to preorder your copy now!

I really fell in love with Andersen's writing. She has a writing style that fits me, that works for me. Even things I dislike are somehow interesting and entertaining when Andersen writes it. The prequel of this series was quite brilliant. It didn't answer questions, but it introduced the characters and set the atmosphere. And after that exciting cliffhanger I was very excited to dive into this prequel. So, I just ignored my "one book by the same author a week" rule (those are short books, so it's fine, right?) and just read on.

Andersen created an amazing mix in this book. The big plot is the mystery and the danger and we mostly follow our heroine on her quest to figure out what happened to her brother and to kill whoever is responsible for his death while trying to hide that she's a dark fae at a school for light fae. Although she's quite reckless and dives into situations regardless of how dangerous they are, I quite enjoyed how she went for what she wanted and didn't let anyone else tell her differently.

Although, she never forget her true goal and that staying at school was important. So, during all her classes she stayed calm and tried to blend in as much as possible. So, despite the fact that she was reckless, she clearly wasn't stupid. She saw her chances, saw the clues and figured things out quite naturally and quickly. And even though she clearly has an edge, it made her easy to like and even easier to root for.

And then there was the side plot with the three guys who knew they were her mates ever since she was 20 but kept it a secret from her and wanted to keep it that way for a little longer. I loved the chapters we spent in their heads. Seeing them struggle with having some answers for her and wanting to protect the girl they love so much is quite interesting and creates a certain kind of tension that I really enjoyed a lot.

But, that cliffhanger! Damn! I want and need more!

    Distracted

The description of this book is incorrect. There is nothing “fae” or “faerie” about the story or characters. I suspect that the author is unaware that there is existing mythology regarding the subject and just wanted to tick off the boxes on the ya/academy/rh subgenres.

The author’s version of “fae” live on earth among humans in or near human cities and avail themselves of all human technology. The only thing paranormal about any of the characters is that they sense emotions and have a mild allergy to iron - which makes the part where they use cellphones and watch tv contradictory as almost every bit of tech uses iron.

I recently read another ya series and another series set in Faerie and this book doesn’t even come close to par. The author would have had greater success if they had dispensed with the fae-aspect entirely and come up with an original AU.

We get so much more with this book than we did with the prequel and it picks up where that one left us. Such wonderful characters but I'm especially fond of Esmeray. A very angsty, mysterious story that was impossible to put down. Looking forward to more.

Ravage is the beginning of a new paranormal romance series by Lacey Carter Andersen. This book takes readers on a fast-paced and steamy ride as we follow along with Esmeray and her three mates as she begins the process of learning what truly happened to her brother and why.
Now, I am a huge fan of Lacey Carter Andersen's books so I was thrilled to grab this book and dive in. I love the darker elements of this book with the ghosts, monsters, and spooky qualities. The author is quick to pull me into the story and has me eagerly page-turning to learn what happens next. The author is quick to hint at a potential steamy situation between Esmeray and Bron in the beginning of the book, but things are pretty much put on hold as there is a sense of urgency at hand. I wanted to like Esmeray as she is the main character of this book, but I can't help but grow to dislike her...alot.
Esmeray's parentage is mixed, and she leans toward the darker side, but she's to keep it hidden. Except...she doesn't. I can't help but question...why? She knows the risks, she knows the consequences, but she honestly acts as she could seriously care less. It's irritating. She's sent to the Academy to take her brother's place. She knows that she is expected to BLEND in, to at least try to act and look like a light fae, but instead she stomps around like a thunder cloud with a chip on her shoulder the size of a boulder. She's there to find answers...how does she think she'll achieve anything practically trying to get herself discovered and kicked out? I get some of her attitude towards the guys, but she's not really trying to "hide" what she really is.
The storyline itself is honestly the saving grace of this storyline for me. I'm fully engaged and eager to learn what happens next because there is some serious mystery going on here. What happened to her brother? What did he find? There are a couple of steamy scenes in this book as well, that is pretty good. There is a serious cliffhanger in this book as well. I was so eager to turn the page that I practically ran into it face first. LOL! I'm practically chomping at the bit to learn more about this new mysterious character.
I'm rating this book...4 out of 5 stars. I LOVE the storyline itself but Esmeray being literally hellbent on being discovered as a dark fae and being a brat to basically everyone around her...that just takes away from the story for me especially since she's the main character. For me, it just begs the question...does she really want answers? Or does she just want to ruin everyone's life who is connected to her? I'm hopeful that she gets her head out of her butt in the next book and chills out so that she can find the answers she's looking for.

Oh a new series by Lacey Carter Anderson and let me say it is brilliant. This series is dark and twisted. But how really dark and twisted are we talking about is still up in the air. I mean you have Esmeray who is have dark fae and half light fae except her dark fae is the strongest. So she has had to deal with a lot o prejudice about it. People fear her because of it. Don't get me wrong, she is strong in her own way but she hides a lot of her strength. One night everything changes and she is off to school cause of it. She is entering a world with no friends except for Bron, Lucien and Dwade. These guys have known her since she was a kid. They are hiding a big secret. Esmeray has one objective and that is to get answers and revenge. Will she see what is in front of her or will she overlook them. This is one crazy adventure she goes on and is shocked to find out some information. Only now she may be in danger and will the guys be able to protect her. There is much mystery that needs to be solved but is Esmeray strong enough to solve it. I cannot wait to read the next book because of the ending left me with some more questions and my mouth open.

    Kindle Unlimited.

I probably would have enjoyed this more if I hadn't JUST been reading Caroline Peckham's Dark Fae series. The similarities in plot are too similar (reverse harem story of fae girl goes to academy where her brother was murdered to infiltrate and solve the case), so this looks two dimensional by comparison to the robust world Peckham created.

In Lacey Carter Anderson's world, there are light fae and dark fae. Dark fae are unhinged because they carry the ability to have other emotions (aside from happiness) for long periods of time, and they can kill and hurt with their minds. Light fae are just that: light and rainbows and sunshine. So yes, it's a little black and white.

The other downer for me was that the love interests already know each other. They've been childhood friends forever, so we don't get to truly see the development of their relationships since meeting. Yes, it's been four years since any of them were in contact with each other, but the foundation has already been laid.

    Also, some grammatical issues.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Wow just wow!! I fell in love with the prequel so I was more then ready to dive into book one of this series. Esmerys has spent pretty much her whole life stuck at the family home having to hide the fact that she is more dark fae then light. Since her brother was the heir this wasn't an issue at least until he is murdered that is. This changes everything. She is now the heir and has to attend the academy with the brothers BFF's. This makes for some interesting interaction to say the least as they all have to cope with new change as well as lots of secrets. Full of suspense and surprises to keep you hooked as the story progresses. The ending is a real doozy making you wish the next book was already here. Perfect for fans of steamy Fae reverse harem. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

  • Missy Brown

So if you read the prequel, Revere then you know about Esmeray. She has been tasked with taking her brothers spot at the academy. But things cannot be easy for her. She is there to find out what happened to her brother and who killed him. She is there for revenge not to find mates. Who also just so happen to be her brothers best friends. There is a lot going on but Esmeray is determined to get to the bottom of things.

I really enjoy this authors writing style. I kinda do not agree with Esmeray some on pushing her mates away somewhat. But I understand that she is a strong character that is on a mission. Plus not knowing who to trust. So overall I would definitely give this series a try. I cannot wait to see what happens next for Esmeray and her mates.

  • Debbie Eyre

So I read the prequel first which was awesome and a great start So looked forward to reading Ravage and it was every bit as awesome as I hoped it would be! A well written steamy reverse harem romance that has some pretty hot scenes, mystery, intrigue, action, drama, betrayal and a strong kick ass heroine to lead the way! With a whole host of supernatural beings , our characters are intriguing and I look forward to reading what comes next!

Esmeray is fae, however she needs to hide that her powers are darker compared to her peers who have light powers. When her brother dies and she's sent to the academy, it's even harder to hide who she really is also thanks to her three brother's best friends.

The book captured me from page 1 and it was hard to put it down once finished. Saying that I need the next book ASAP is an understatement.

  • Kayla Pipkin

This isn't your typical love story.
Not even your typical reverse harem love story.
And I like that about it.
Sometimes you just want the angst and drama that comes with forming a new relationship.
And this book definitely delivers on that.

Esmeray has lived her life hidden away in the shadows because of her heritage.
But she prefers it that way.
She has her ghost and her monsters.
And they are all she needs.
It isn't until tragedy strikes that her simple life is shaken to its foundation and she must take a more active role in her society.
Yet, she has to still remain hidden because what she is...will only get her killed.

Esmeray has a tough exterior that she wants everyone to believe has no emotions or feelings.
Though that is further from the truth.
I think she feels a little too deeply, even if she doesn't want to admit it to herself.
That is proven with the three men who were closest to her brother.
    Bron, Lucien, and Dwade.
They've known for several years that Esmeray was their mate, but kept their distance.
"It's for her protection," they say, but when push comes to shove?
They cave into her charms pretty easily.
We see a lot of back and forth between their decisions on how to handle their mate bond with Esmeray, but eventually we do see them telling her about it and everything else the secret entails.

This book is surrounded with mystery.
I don't want to give away the most telling part, but the rest revolves around it.
Esmeray is trying to figure out why this happened to her life and how to can make amends.
However, the further she digs, the more secrets she uncovers and she isn't as strong as she thought to handle some of the blows.

I'm curious to see how things will progress in the next book.
We end on a cliffhanger, but luckily I don't think we have to wait long for book two to release.

The story is told from multiple points of view.
You have you heroes and the heroine, as well as a mystery character at the end.
Not sure where that is leading us, but can't wait to find out.

Overall, this is a highly enjoyable read.
Make sure you are prepared for some steaminess as well.
There are some interesting things going on in this book.
If you haven't dived into Lacey Carter Andersen's books, then I suggest doing so now.
    You will not be disappointed.

Yea, this book was really hard for me to appreciate & I wish I hadn't wasted my time on it. Others might like it but I just didn't get into it enough to want to continue with the series, though I did finish the book at least (hence the 2 stars)- I kept hoping it would pull a Hail Mary towards the end to redeem itself- nope.

Their really is no world building, I was left confused as to what the heck was going on in this paranormal world since this is not the average writer's knock off of a paranormal world to just flow with it, let alone that they are fae (going into this with preconceived notions of what fae are) or what the differences between the light fae & the dark fae really are in this book -as they just didn't seem like "fae", let alone how to tell them apart other than feeding on good versus bad emotions. If it weren't for the deathly allergy to iron, the occasional blip of random magic & the feeding on emotions for power, I wouldn't have even know they were "fae", as they weren't given any descriptive of special powers or looks, etc, to differentiate them. They didn't even have pointy ears!
I'm not sure if this was split off another series that did have the world building, or what (another reviewer mentioned a prequel, but that it wasn't necessary before this book), & I didn't care enough to find out. The main female character is all over the place in her behavior, it's becoming a pet peeve of mine to see a main character's behavior being so drastic as to not seem realistic for the character to behave that way. The 3 guys from the RH, well lets just say that they held no appeal at all for me, they weren't great male main characters. It sounded like she would have maybe 2 more added to the RH at some point, from hints dropped, but I'll never know for sure, since I won't be continuing with the series!

There is being a badass and just being a bad character, and in Ravage, Esmeray is often a poorly written character who has crossed that fine line.

Revere introduces us to Esmeray and her mates: Bron Drake, Lucian Silver, and Dwade Luther...

--Dwade is still a nonsense name in my book and far from sexy. Should we Dwade into the swamp? Dwading in lakes is far better. See, that is what comes to mind when I hear Dwade. /tangent--

...And we learn about the sexy, no-no-relationship situation the three men are keeping from Rayne and Esmeray; no one knows that Esmeray is their mate. But now Rayne has been murdered, and Esmeray is at the Royal Fae Academy, and keeping the sexy Dark Fae from doing what comes naturally to her without spilling their guts is proving impossible to Bron, Lucian, and Dwade.

Okay, I wouldn't say I like this book, half the plot goes awry early on. Ravage's relationship drama is all dumb. It's so contrived and frustrating; I wanted to eat my Kindle. I loved the guys, but I loathe Esmeray, she's unlikeable much of the time with her tantrums and fits, I had a hard time understanding what, other than a biological urge, the mates saw in her.

And this really bummed me out because I had high hopes having read Revere. I expected a steamy romp in Paranormal Romanceville, where I would get more Bron--who I am book boyfriending, and advancement in the mystery of Rayne. What happened? Ravage was okay but not at the same level as Revere.

Shame on everything. I am saddened, get me chocolate.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.

    Fine

This book is fine. If you are looking for a not particularly problematic super quick read you’ll probably be fine.

The author should have made up her own paranormal species rather then trying to piggy back off of fae because it didn’t really make sense. Other then maybe being immortal and a slight allergy to iron they aren’t fae like. They live in the human world and use human things and technology that contains iron which makes no sense.
She starts out super bad ass but as soon as she gets to the school she’s whiny, throwing tantrums, totally unprepared, she came here expecting a fight, she came here saying she was going to kill them all and find out what happened to her brother but she’s unprepared?
She says normally she would reflect happiness back at them to try to fit in and throw off suspicion but she wants to be conspicuous, then later she will do something and be like aw man, don’t want to do that! I want to blend in! What? But you specifically said you didn’t?
She gets attacked by an iron demon when walking into her dorm, completely unprepared and she thinks, I need to run to one of the main buildings, they have guards abs wards to protect from iron demons! What? You’re telling me that classrooms are guarded and warded but not the dorms?? Where the students sleep?
The whole pushing the romance away sub plot made no sense.
Basically if everyone would sit down and just have an honest conversation 95% of the book wouldn’t happen.

  • Lene Blackthorn

Esmeray has embraced her darkness a long time ago. Being the dark fae among light fae, she was always the outcast, talking to ghosts and monsters, and feeding off negative emotions. She never expected to be the next heir to her family, the shining role model of a light fae from powerful house.
That was the fate of her brother Rayne. One of the very few people she ever loved.
Now, Rayne is dead, and Esmeray has to step up to take his place, starting from joining the Royal Fae Academy. However, there are dark secrets lurking in the shadows at the academy, and Esmeray is determined to find out what they are and who murdered her brother, using all the weapons at her fingertips - including her seduction.
A gripping tale of light and darkness, accepting both positive and negative emotions, and the power behind them to drive one into action. Despite all odds Esmeray does not give up, and even though sometimes her darkness overrules the logical choices, she won't stand up until she reaches her goal. Moreover, the complicated relationships between her and Rayne's friends escalate the tension and bring up interesting, tensed, awkward, and hot situations. The steamy scenes heat the story, jumping from zero to hundred within a few pages, and I had my eyes glued to the story until the last sentence. Now I am hooked for the next one.

    *May contain spoilers*
I've come across a few academy series about the fmc going into the academy to solve her missing sibling mystery, but haven't read any yet. This book was my first book in similar series. The story kept me intrigued until the end of the book. Now, I may have to consider reading the other series I came across. I would say this book was fast-paced. There's no slow build-up for all the characters to like each other because they grew up together, so their feelings were already there. They haven't acted upon it until Esmeray attended the school.

    Characters-
The fmc is Esmeray (love the name for the fmc; something different from the norm is also a plus for me). I enjoy books about strong kickass heroines. Esmeray is badass and goes in swinging. She's a very determined girl, and nothing can stop her from getting what she wants.

The male leads are; Lucian, Bron, and Dwade. All hot and different in their way and BFF with her brother. I like that this book has multiple POVs. So, you'll hear their perspectives.

    Heat level: Hot and steamy.

I can't wait to read book 2 to find out what happens next.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Honestly, I was hooked from the synapses. I was a little worried though because some of these academy books start to sound the same, but this author did NOT disappoint. It was both captivating and unique. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it definitely won’t be my last.

Esmeray is our heroine. She is bada**. She’s fierce, independent, hides who she is to the world afraid that if people knew what she really was it would bad for her. She keeps to her ghosts and monsters. She feels alone in the world. Her brother was the only one she felt close to and he was tragically taken away from her. She is on a mission for revenge. Bron, Dwane, and Lucian are her brothers best friends. They are possessive and extremely protective in all the good ways. They don’t know how to be around her because they have mated with her. They haven’t spoken in years. Now they are thrust together. As they try to protect her, it pushes her farther away. Can them come together and figure out the mysteries that got her brother killed? Will she ever fully trust them?

This book is action packed and fast paced. I throughly enjoyed this book. I love all things ghosts. Brings me back to my childhood days telling spooky stories around a campfire. Although this book is way better than any spooky campfire story. There so many secrets and lies that you honestly don’t know what is true and what isn’t. With professors and students who are weird and suspicious you don’t know where to start.

I absolutely NEED book two. If you haven’t read this book, then get to it! You won’t be disappointed.

  • Brittany Smith

Such a fantastic book! We basically pick up from where the prologue leaves off so it’s nice and easy to piece together. There is an amazing flow to the book that I put down to the author’s writing style. It’s very well detailed and thought out. There are points where you forget that you’re reading a book and just get lost in the story.

Esmeray is a fantastic lead character. She doesn’t back down or bulk in the face of danger. True, most of the danger is her but when she’s afraid she keeps going. Her leading males in this story are individualistic and have there own niche.

As I said before the details, descriptions, and emotions that are put in this book are absolutely brilliant. I found myself smiling, gasping, and holding my breath throughout the whole book! Fantastic twists and turns- and the heat!!! Wow *fans oneself*!

A great book to read for fans of Fae as well as paranormal fans alike!!

  • Naurarwen

The novella really didn't prepare me for this book, but dang was it good. We pretty much leave off from where the novella has ended as Esmeray prepares to attend Royal Fae Academy. She has her own secrets to keep, but so do those around her. She wants revenge for what happened to her brother and she will do absolutely anything to get it. The story leaves you with one hell of a cliffhanger ending and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Whilst reading this story, I did find myself wanting to know more about Rayne and maybe it's something Lacey will look into in the future, with potentially some novellas about Rayne and his time at the academy and how he met his mate. You can a brief introduction to that character but I'd love to know more about her and her interactions with Rayne.

Overall the story is fantastic from start to finish and I found myself rooting for Esmeray, her plan for revenge, and also her men.

  • Brianna Belbin

This book was less steam and focused more on the mystery and development which I appreciated. I liked that we got to explore the academy and tunnels and learned more about Esmeray, Bron, Dwade, and Lucian. I was really upset that Rayne died so early and that we barely got to meet him- I really thought he would be my favorite character in the series, but I might have a new favorite from the cliffhanger.
Esmeray has a fearless, reckless, and determined personality that gets her into dangerous situations. She can’t trust anyone at the academy, even her brother’s best friends. I liked the connection that she has with Lucian the best out of the three guys. Abigail was probably my favorite side character in the story and I also liked Mary Ann. I intrigued to see what happens next at the academy and learn more about the history of light and dark fae in this world.
*I received a free copy from the Black Cat ARC Team in exchange for an honest review

  • Rebekah Tomkinson

This book was amazing, I loved all the characters especially Esmeray. She is ravaged by grief but still determined to get to the bottom of what happened. She is a strong character and you can tell she knows her worth, despite all the secrets and all the mysteries that surround her and fae kind, she is still trying to find out what happened to her brother. Every page pulled me deeper into the world and I loved how the mystery is weaved into the story. The boys were really interesting (and hot!) and each one was different. I want to know more about them in the next book as you only start to get a sense of who they are. Lacey drip feeds you information throughout the book and I loved the ending! It really made me want to read the next book. This was fast paced, steamy and great fun to read. I highly recommend.

  • Dori Miller

Hiding in plain sight, Esmeray begins the challenging search for her brother's killer, and uncovers a darker mystery in the process. Who can be hiding this earth-shattering secret, and what is lurking in the darkness to protect it? While we gain insight into Esmeray and her mates, we learn that the placid surface of the Royal Fae Academy is hiding turbulent depths which threaten to pull her under.

I enjoy watching Lacey Carter Andersen build depth into her characters as she weaves a story which, much like the spider's web, catches the reader and leaves them helpless to turn their eyes from the page. By the time I reached the middle of this book I knew I wouldn't be able to stop until I had consumed it all, and once I had I knew I'd be waiting at the edge of my seat for the next book!

  • Slynne

Esmeray is now the heir to her family after her older brother died, and consequently is sent to the Academy he attended to replace him. She agrees to this because she doesn't think he died the way the official version says he did, and she wants to investigate to see who is murdered is so she can get revenge

She literally moves into his old room, which is a part of a shared quad with her brother's bff's, Bron, Lucien, and Dwade, who she used to think were her bff's too, until a couple years prior when the 3 of them went silent on her.

The story is spent with her investigating her brother's murders, and with her interactions with the guys. It ends in a cliffhanger.

Great writing except that it was stressed several times that she's known to hide her dark elf heritage her whole life, except she doesn't hide it, she seems to almost flaunt it. Seems contradictory.

  • Andrea Green

Wowzers just finished this book and cant wait for book 3!!! Full of mystery, intruigue and angst.
Absolutely loved this book - Strong story with loads of twists and turns.
Even the secrets seem to have secrets in this book and there are mysteries with in mysteries.
3 of her harem are known from the get go but she hasn't realised it yet that they are her mates and the book hints at a 4th which will play havoc with the dynamics which seem fragile enough at the moment but lets see what happens in the next book
My only comment is that i think you should read book 1 before you read the prequal as book 1 really hooks you in where as the prequal has a sizzling hot scene but doesn't pull you down the same rabbit hole as this book does.

Ravage is the first full book in the Royal Fae Academy Series.

Having been hidden away for most of her life, Esmeray must take her brother's place at the Fae Academy, following his mysterious death. Why has she been hidden? There's a darkness in the family history that is more evident in Esme than it was in her brother.

The book blends mystery and Fae politics with a fast burn reverse harem romance. Esme's room mates at the Academy? Her brother's four best friends. Who have been in love with Esme for years. She's also in love with them, but they were off limits.

Both the mystery elements and the romance in the book are fast paced, and full of twists, with a cliffhanger ending. Looking forward to the next one!

Takes the reader further into the Royal Fae Academy

Esmeray, a fae with secrets to keep, doesn’t know how to deal with her feelings of abandonment by her brother and his three best friends Bron, Dwade, and Lucian going off to academy full-time. As the story progresses darkness is embraced, promises are given, and not everyone comes out unscathed. Ravage by Lacey Carter Andersen takes the reader further into the Royal Fae Academy and all the secrets it encompasses. The journey she has set out for them all promises to be filled with danger and intrigue.

I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

    Oh boy!

Poor Esmeray is shattered when her beloved older brother, Rayne, dies. Esmeray doesn’t believe her brother accidentally stabbed himself with a sword, made with iron (deadly to the fae) and coated with poison. Does her mixed light and dark fae heritage make her suspicious? Or is she using her brain to see what’s in front of her?

Sent to Royal Fae Academy as the new heir of her house, Esmeray realizes her brother’s best friends are lying to her and hiding something. We’re they involved in Rayne’s death? Esmeray is determined to find out.

For Bron, Dwade, and Lucian, the need to protect Esmeray is all consuming. They don’t want to lie to her but they have to. Because if they tell her all the truths they know, their world and hers will never be the same again.
