Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town, Vol. 2 (light novel) Reviews

This is one of the few series where I actually enjoy the authorial interjections. It's mildly Pratchettian.

Without having rhyme or reason for it, the author makes everybody infatuated with Lloyd, a kid from a faraway village, Kunlun, the main character of this fantasy novel series. Other than the obsessions with Lloyd, almost every other character is irrational, crazy, and in desperate need of therapy and heavy medication. Is it the water? does everybody in this other world drink the "special kool-aid"?
The author's writing is extremely childish. Almost designed for really small children or people with little to no emotional intelligence, because of the sexual innuendos, though, I can imagine an extremely immature author, thinking everything he writes is extremely funny (just to himself)...
So there is a tournament, but Lloyd not only participates but was the person to find the prize and at the end the prize turns out to be a "fake".
This fantasy novel series actually was made into an anime. The problem is that it has lots and lots of plot holes, and delusional, irrational and extremely weird characters. -
Solid. Liked more than book 1 for fleshing out Riho and how her surrogate sister was good in the end, and I also liked side development like Selen mastering her belt more and the new martial arts classmate, etc. The enemy knowing and thinking they can defeat Alka is huge too given she's probably/possibly the strongest elder in the world. Curious where the story will go from here.
Some early bits were slow and Lloyd still dense but decent fun. Allan's a good guy too. Very noble and good hearted and well meaning. -
Nice setting, but all the characters are starting to get on my nerves. The MC is strong, but for some stupid plot reason no-one even wants to mention to him that he's strong. The MC is therefor having a low self-esteem which is, to be honest, getting tiresome since he keeps complaining about it. The book has some nice moments in it, but I wonder if I should pick up the next one or just wait for the anime; hoping that that would be better. This book was disapointing to me.

So some progress in Selen's character development. I just don't like the 'stalker' angle being played for laugh, although that might just be a woman's perspective on this. For a lot of women, situations like these are a terrifying reality, and end tragically with unfortunate frequency. So I really hope in future volumes the 'stalker' aspect is muted, if not outright done away with. That's my only real gripe about the series so far.

Still not getting anywhere! Preparing for a tournament, blah, blah, blah.
How can an incredibly strong character not figure out that everyone else is playing at a much weaker level? He can't, unless the author ties the plot in knots to try an avoid that realization.
Not horrible but really not all the easy to believe in the characters. -
A brilliant read

Lloyd works at the mess hall as a cook after failing the military entrance exams. Lloyd doesn't make it into the military at first. After he cleans the dirt off of the colonel and the King, Princess Maria allows him to join the military.

1/5 stars
Finished it. Although the tropes they use of an oblivious overpowered character the rest of the characters were not that great. There was more fanservice than I would have liked. I can usually handle that but in this case it felt like it affected all the characters developments.
