Ideology and Greed: Rationales for Climate Science Dismissal by William McPherson

Greed underlies the ideology used by politicians and businesses to dismiss climate science. While arguing in public for "free markets" and "corporate neutrality," those who ignore climate change consequences are avoiding necessary actions. They use these rationales to maintain high incomes and market share. High levels of consumption and short-term planning imperil the planet. Misuse of the land has led to degradation of the earth's life support system. Willful ignorance means that coastal properties and other areas subject to sea level rise and extremes in the water cycle are creating high risks. While there are efforts by many, especially the youth, to address these problems, change may come too late for the earth to remain inhabitable.
