As they race to unearth the Magicks who control their future, Tasia’s house of cards comes crashing down. When Pandora’s Box is prised open, can the man who holds her heart push back the darkness …

Tasia is finally at home in San Francisco. Surrounded by powerful friends and like-minded allies, she's finding her feet in the Pack, contributing to the investigation and feeling her way with the fiercely guarded and daunting Alpha. But she has a major decision to make, one that goes to the root of who she is and the chains of history that hold her future hostage to the past.

The Oracle's interpretation of his prophecy raises uncomfortable questions about the allegiances of powerful Chosen. Lady Bethesda’s attempts to entice Faoladh to her side, the shadowy presence of an Archmage, the growing role of a powerful Vampire Master and the latent fissures among the Ancients force the team to reconsider their strategy. But a devastating bombshell tears apart a rock-solid partnership, just as Tasia is ready to break the shackles that bind her. As the past comes home to roost, the Alpha must grapple with the darkness he holds at bay. Can the Alpha conquer his demons or will the past color the present?

The Siren (Saga of the Chosen, #3) Reviews

Tumultuous and often devastating, but always a lesson around every corner, Petra Landon’s THE SIREN with its supernatural enemies and allies does a remarkable of job of mimicking life. Events that start an avalanche never start in a bubble, they are happening all around simultaneously and Tasia is caught squarely in the middle of everything.

As the prophecy is revealed, its time drawing ever closer to fulfillment, a diverse cast of characters begin to come together, are they to be allies or something more sinister? Ancients, vampires, mages, weres and more will seek the answers they need to hold back the darkness while others hold secrets that may be key to their cause.

Will Tasia’s past hold her back or be the catalyst that will unleash all that she is? Is she ready to trust in herself and the one that holds her heart?

Petra Landon has drawn a kaleidoscope of adventure, magic and turmoil and included a cast of characters that, while numerous, are as distinct and individual as their beliefs and causes, loyalties and lies.

I love the action, the intense details, the myriad of pieces coming together, forming a tale of epic proportions! Do you like fantasy with a dark, bold flavor? Characters who are flawed, diverse and powerful? Wonderful reading, an excellent escape that takes readers into another world!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Petra Landon! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have been waiting so long for this book and was so glad that I got the message from Petra Landon that it was finished! This series is what started me reading Petra Landon books and I can't wait to see how it's going to end.
This book was again one with great world building, an awesome set of characters and new reveals and mysteries!

If you love great world building, awesome characters and tons of depth in a book you should read this one. The history, the politics, it's all there. I highly recommend people to read The Prophecy, the first book in this series. I'm sure you'll be hooked and wanting to know what's going on. I want to end this review by making a compliment to Petra Landon; I think it was a brilliant move to cut the third book in half and make it two books.

    2.5/5.0

Good grief! This third installment of the Chosen series did NOTHING but go round and round and round, obsessing over every single character’s thoughts, hang-ups and history. I know this author’s writing style tends to repeating minutia but usually there is at least some action or something interesting to keep the reader involved. Not this time. I was so bored throughout, if it weren’t for the fact that I adore the characters and the overall series plot, I would have given up multiple times. Rounding up to three stars rather than down is for those reasons only.

Also, the only riveting part was at the very end when a bombshell hit and kicked us off the cliff. The HUGE problem with that is this particular author takes over one and up to two years to publish the next book in the series. IMHO, NO author should EVER use this plot device unless a reader can be assured the follow-up book will be published before one has completely forgotten what happened in the first place!!! *red-hot steam rising*

    Tasia tossed about

She has survived alone in the shadows. She's survived being with the Pack. She's even survived being in a cage with a silver sick Shifter. She's survived facing down the Alpha's beotan in a jungle. But can she survive what is staring her in the face?

    Spoilers ahead.
We finally get the acknowledgement of the nightmares we've all suspected we're just random nightmares. Memories and visions haunt them both. His from experience, hers from a genetic fluke that she never asked to inherit. Both have suffered but instead of uniting I'm their shared pain they stand at constant odds. This book lured us in with hope, dancing ever closer to something dangled in previous books. The 1 thing I don't understand, no matter his pain, is how he could hold something like that against her. No one likes to be laid bare and vulnerable, even before loved ones. But, he more than most, understands how something within can betray you even against all fighting. And, honestly, he initiated it, even before pursuing her. How can he honestly forget how he healed her? Being what she is, tasting what controls her magic, the dots all line up. He's smarter than this. But, I guess, without struggle, the books would be a lot shorter lol. The travel, the breadcrumbs of other beings and powers, the coming together and breaking apart of all Chosen- like a swirling dance, is so interesting. Some of the deliberate misleading with the prophecy seems a bit contrived, especially as we continue to learn insights into certain characters. A lack of recognition, sure. But deliberate obtuseness is sometimes a bit much. But, still, the story is fascinating.

Thank you so much for providing me with an advance reader copy, Ms. Landon.

I’m writing a short review, because as in the previous books this is just to good to give the plot away and spoil it for others.

The group is still chasing clues and trying to stop Lady Bethesda. You get to read the actual prophecy the oracle left. They are searching for the third sister, Temi who has secured a powerful ally. Sienna is coming into her gift of prophecy and learning to trust what she sees. We are made aware of each part and role some of the players will play.

    The cliffhanger tore me apart.

A man tormented by his past; a woman torn between her secrets and her heart.

“You sought to use my own heart against me, witchling”.

“Matters has come full circle between them reflected numbly. She was never meant to run to him; only away from him.”

“To Tasia, even more than the implicit rebuff, the subtext of his charge struck deep --- she was not worth fighting for. She has been condemned and no supplication would be entertained.”

“He zeroed on her, an arrested look on his face and the dawning realization of what he’d lost in his eyes.”

“Something infinitely precious had slipped through Tasia’s fingers, right when she was ready to reach for it.”

“Pandora’s box had been wedged open despite her best effort to keep it sealed. Secrets, ancient, lethal and long-forgotten would start to tumble out. She could not outrun history. Sooner or later it would catch up with her.

Ms. Landon, I need the next book, please.

I was lucky to receive an advanced copy and couldn't be happier. It's truly amazing. I reread The Rainmaker before starting The Siren. The flow is seamless. I'm savoring each page.

This is exceptional writing. I read it twice! Twisty and full of surprises. It keeps you guessing then throws it all in to chaos as soon as you think you have it figured out. Petra creates a world I can really lose myself in. Once again the ending had my heart beating fast and hard.

My favorite parts of the series have been the major reveals about Tasia, her background, powers, relationship with Alpha and the other characters. I'm really anticipating what comes next. There are still so many secrets and much to accomplish. I can't stop thinking about Sienna's last vision. I have all these ideas racing thru my head of what The Prophecy might actually mean and who the actual players will be.

    I loved it!!!

The Siren (Saga of the Chosen #3) by Petra Landon is the long-awaited third installment of this incredibly detailed and in-depth tale of the four, hidden, magical entities that exist side by side with us humans (Si’ffa) but of which we are totally unaware; The First Ones, The Wizards, The Wyr or Shifters, and the Vampires or Blutsaugers. The Siren continues straight on from where Book 2, The Rainmaker and we see the wizard Tasia Armstrong and her nemesis/protector Wyr, Alpha-Protector, Raoul Merceau continuing their highly choreographed and intricate dance of equal amounts of suspicion, attraction, and possibly love.

The Alpha-Protector and a team comprising members of almost all of the magic factions have banded together to search for and investigate the former powerful wizard Lady Bethesda, who was presumed killed in an explosion she is thought to have caused at the Wizard Registry, some decades ago. As Tasia and Raoul are drawn closer together and seemed determined to explore the feelings they clearly have for each other, problems await their burgeoning romance. Can this team of disparate Magic’s work successfully together to find and destroy the evil Lady Bethesda before she is able to gather her three daughters together and seize ultimate power of the magic world?
As always, in this series, Landon has a multitude of complicated plots, sub-plots, along with a vast array of characters to make up this fascinating, twisting and turning saga. Her ability, as an author, to keep all these balls in the air and not confuse herself or the reader is what marks her as a remarkable writer and a true star in this genre, not to even mention the Science Fiction genre which she dabbles brilliantly in, also. That is why, as a reader, I am first in line to grab her books when they are published. Her writing style is extremely descriptive and particularly emotive. She is able to draw a reader in and feel the character’s underlying emotions, be they male or female. Again, this is a sign of the skill of an author that he/she can empathise with and accurately portray the motivations and emotions of both sexes, so well.

In this iteration of the adventure, Tasia is finally coming to terms with living as part of a Wyr pack and the difficulties that entails. As an integral part of the investigation team there is a synchronicity and meshing of ideals and ideas that you would not expect from a group made up of Wizards, Wyrs, and First Ones who have all spent generations keeping their own counsel and guarding their secrets jealously. The intrigue and byplay that goes along with this is part of what makes the read so enjoyable as well as what makes it flow so well.

What I particularly love about all of Landon’s work is the character development and especially her leading ladies. Tasia, is no exception to this. She is a strong-willed, self-controlled, and powerful but vulnerable woman who has accepted her solitude in life due to her unique heritage but Landon beautifully brings out the softer, sweeter side of the woman, who really just wants to be accepted, to be part of something bigger than herself and most of all, to be loved. Raoul, the stern, taciturn, extremely violent, Alpha-Protector, who has every reason to hate wizards, with a passion, is also capable of extreme kindness, generosity, empathy, and yes, perhaps even love. The sexual tension between these two characters has always been the highlight of Landon’s series.

Although this can be read as a stand-alone adventure, I would recommend reading the series in order – for two reasons: Firstly, it is fantastic to see the development of the character relationships over the three books and it gives you a much better understanding and background to the story basis. Secondly, because they simply are fantastic books and so, why wouldn’t you want to read them? That being said, if you pick up this book first, make sure you read the glossary at the end before starting, so you can understand the characters and how they fit into the story. It will make your read even more satisfying.

I had expected that this book, The Siren, would be the final episode in the Saga of the Chosen, but author Landon had other ideas for me. This book will end in a poignancy that will tear at regular followers of this tale’s heartstrings. But, fear not, Landon assures us the next installment, The Palladin, will not be long in coming. She also hints there may be a fifth episode of this wonderfully exciting and innovative tale, so that is definitely something for us devoted fans of these characters to look forward to. I cannot wait to get my hands on The Palladin – get writing Petra!

  • Boundless Book Reviews

First and foremost, don’t do what I did and jump right into this book, expecting to remember everything that was going on. Its been two years I’ve read countless books in between, and there isn’t any recap.

Landon warned about this in the forward to re-read The Rainmaker; however, I didn’t have time if I was going to make the deadline to finish the book. I voluntarily received a copy of The Siren to give it an honest review. I was trying to get the review done by the release day, then the Virus struck, and the world came to a halt. Doesn’t that sound like a book? I did not make it. With everything going on, I found it INCREDIBLY challenging to concentrate on reading and The Siren, which I already felt a bit lost because I didn’t re-read The Rainmaker.

In almost every series I’ve read, there seems to be one book that is “character building.” The plot doesn’t move or if it does just slightly, but we get a whole lot of insight into each of the characters and their backstory and their thoughts, motivations, and feelings. It has never been my favorite book because I feel that it is a waste. I’m not too fond of books that don’t progress the plot. The Siren introduced the 3rd sister, but she hasn’t hooked up yet with Tasia or the pack. Although I do like her story, there isn’t a lot of progressions other than building her character and the character of ElMorad. The investigating team finally gets their hands on the actual Prophecy, but again it is doesn’t do anything for them other than bring more speculation.

Tasia doesn’t do much in the story other than build on her relationship with the Alpha, and I was in love with every scene they had together. I will admit that London ripped my heart out and crushed it a bit at the end. I was crying and reading. Unfortunately, that only happened in the very last part of the book. Up until then, I was not overly engaged with the story.

My advice re-read the Rainmaker before you start The Siren, or if you are just discovering this series welcome, start from the beginning and go back and read book 1 The Prophecy.

The Siren is the 3rd part of an unfinished story, and even though it wasn’t my favorite of the three books, I still enjoyed it overall. Landon has weaved a very intricate mystery, and all the pieces are starting to come together.

It is just a matter of how they are going to land. I believe Tasia is the key to everything, and the Alpha is a fool, but most men are.
I can’t wait for the next installment, and I hope it isn’t another two years away. I am giving The Siren 3.5 Boundless stars.

I love this epic paranormal series, and this latest instalment is a fantastic continuation. There is such depth and complexity to the characters, and whilst essentially this is a suspenseful adventure story there is more than one slow-burning romance for those of us who enjoy a love story.

The author is a skilled and intelligent story teller. Her ability to weave a tale like a multi-threaded tapestry and to keep each strand secure and intact is a true gift. This author clearly loves her art, and her mastery of the English language is impressive. I like to think I have a way with words, but I have found myself reaching for my dictionary on more than one occasion.

This is a fabulous, and thrilling adventure story about a parallel world where magic exists alongside the mundane, and an epic battle of good and evil is played out with dire consequences for all , should the wrong side overcome... I received an early copy of this story from the author

    This will grip your heart...

I cried reading this one. Tasia and Raoul are astounding characters, that you want to stand by and support. I felt like I was there, immersed in this clashing of souls, that radiates from the pages. This book is intense, informative and if you blink, you're going to miss something important. I loved every minute of it!!

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

So I have been lucky enough to receive ARC copies of each book in the Saga of the Chosen series and I must say that each and every installment seems to get better and better.

This book is simply amazingly done!

There are additional characters that add a ton to the story but feel like they have been a part of the ride the whole time.

The emotions that Ms. Landon is able to bring out of the characters is fantastic. You find yourself frustrated, excited, happy, scared, etc. along with each character. It is not easy to write a well written story with sooo many characters but Petra does this flawlessly.

The cliffhanger at the end is in a way cruel but just makes me want to get to the last installment of this series even faster.

    Well done Petra!!!

I highly recommend this book and the whole series for that matter.
