Meet Rex, the talon-tearing tough leader of a Cretaceous crew that loves to feed, feud, and fight! All is well in their rough-and-tumble world until someone new comes to town: a yoga-loving dino named Sam. Rex disapproves of his yoga pants, the “silly” chants, and frankly anyone who prefers tree pose to tussling.
But how will Rex react when his surly, burly buddies want to try something new? And what is the real reason Rex rejects this new dinosaur?
Kids will delight in this chomping, stomping showdown between the muscle-bound and the mellow, as Rex learns what true toughness looks like. With humor and heart, Dinos Don’t Do Yoga reveals the strength of kindness and friendship over bullying and fear.
Dinos Don't Do Yoga Reviews
-
Obviously I love the dinos, but a good story about friendship, accepting peoples differences, and adapting to your abilities!

This is a fantastic book for all ages! I read this to my sons for our nightly storytime and they loved seeing all the different dinosaurs, naming the ones they knew, learning the names of the ones they didn't know, and following along with some of the yoga poses they saw in the book.
I have said this about many books before, but books that teach readers that it is good to come out of our comfort zones sometimes, that you can do whatever you set your mind to, and that we aren't limited by the boxes we put ourselves in are some of my absolute favorite books to read to young kids.
This would make an exceptional addition to any storytime about dinosaurs, movement, yoga, and trying new things. Great fun read. -
I really liked this book. I think the storyline is very funny and lighthearted. I personally love yoga so reading this book to children is a good way to transition into asking them to get up and move their bodies. I love a good brain break and I can see myself reading this book to students and watching them laugh at the funny words and characters. This book also has a good message about being kind even if someone is rude to you and to never give up on something just because someone else thinks it’s silly or unusual.

very original. Sam was a new dinosaur in the neighborhood. Rex's ferocious friends didn't know if they liked him or not. Rex said dinos don't do yoga. But Sam shows the sloths how to plank, and some of the dinos laughed, but some tried some yoga poses. Rex is mad and trips over a bone and falls into the tar pit. The dinos rush to help him and they start talking about how yoga helps them feel better. Rex says he can't do it cuz his arms are too tiny but Sam helps him. rhyming

Welcome to a "chomping, stomping showdown between the muscle-bound and the mellow."
Realistically, what else would you expect when Sam moves into the neighborhood? This is, after all, a neighborhood of dinosaurs. One of my favorite lines goes:
I need to align my spines. (Get the plural, Goodreaders?)
Such a refreshing book! Lighthearted, socially educational, and beautifully illustrated.
FIVE STARS and...

Rex (the T-Rex) knows one truth: Dinos. Don't. Do. Yoga. When a new yoga-loving dinosaur, Sam, moves in nearby, Rex is ready to scoff at his chants, poses, and yoga pants. But, soon, Rex's friends become curious to try out yoga, and Rex is left all alone. Why isn't Rex willing to give yoga a chance?
A sweet story fun for a storytime with little yogis ready to show off their best T-Rex stance. -
There have been several similar dinosaur_meets_yoga picture books in recent times. Sounds great, kids love dinosaurs and kids yoga is hot, hot, hot. Why not combine them?
In the right hands, it might work. But generally, it doesn't. This book like the others, wasn't in the right hands.
And I wish that the dinosaur/yoga books would go extinct.

Silly illustrations and catchy rhymes introduce yoga concepts to wee ones through this hilarious story about Sam, the Yogasaur, who shows Rex’s ferocious friends how to do basic poses. The ending is a bit abrupt but brings the story to closure on a positive note. Endnotes with a definition of yoga and illustrated instructions for basic poses would have been a welcome addition.

Rex is the leader of a rough and tough bunch of the Cretaceous Crew. Rex and his crew loves nothing more but to use their muscles and talons to bully and terrorize. But then Sam moves into the valley, and changes everyone's attitude by showing them yoga, that is all but Rex. It takes a life threatening disaster to bring Rex around to change his outlook.

I was so excited for this book because I love dinosaurs and I love yoga! The pictures were great. The story was cute but, and I know I’m being ridiculous, it could have had a better flow (yoga pun intended).
-
Will induce giggles . . . likely for the grown-ups as much as for the kids. Hey . . . namaste!
-
Such a cute book about learning something new, with dinosaurs!
-
Rex is upset when Sam comes to town and teaches the other dinosaurs yoga. Rex is crabby, until Sam teaches him how to be more flexible in yoga.
-
Dinosaur are a well-liked topic by most young boys and girls! Even better, the illustrations, simple text and unique plot add to this book's like-ability. Overall, two thumbs up!

Fun
-
Yoga calms all things. Reading this book calms you down.
-
Great illustrations and a rhyming text tell the story of how yoga came to the dinosaurs. Great humor for adults and kids and a gentle anti-bullying message.
-
So many puns! Great for those that love dinos AND yoga. Even if you don't care for yoga the moral is to be nice even when others are rude.
-
So cute!

This is a great book for any kid who loves dinosaurs. It is an especially nice combo of roaring and stomping with mindfulness and calming down. My favorite part was how it shows that people who refuse to try new things don't get to decide for everyone, even if they try to use shame.

I feel like this is based someone's personal experience of opening a yoga studio in a football town.
The dinosaurs all like to play rough. Then a new dinosaur moves in and does yoga. At first, all the dinosaurs think it's stupid. Then they come around for no real reason. -
3.5 stars - Somewhere between I liked it and I loved it.
