Sleeping with the enemy?
Well, now she works for me.

Rian was my rival in college, vying for the same internship.
Sometimes enemies are fire between the sheets—we were.
Until she walked off with the internship.
Now, the smart-mouthed beauty who always kept me guessing got downsized and takes a job out in Nebraska out of desperation.
She’s working for me.
I don’t mind her working under me, but I’d rather have her in bed.
Or across this desk.
Her ideas are brilliant and the flirting is hot, so we’re playing with fire.
Against company regulations, we have a blazing secret affair.
I can’t get enough of her, and I know she feels the same way.
Everything’s like a fantasy until a phone call sends her into a panic, and our sexy business trip is cut short.
Because Rian has a secret.
She took more from me than that internship in college.
She has a daughter—my daughter.
A child who was kept secret from me by the enemy I’ve come to love.

Nothing can ever be the same now that I know her secret.

Un romance de oficina con segunda oportunidad y una bendición.

    Estuvo entretenido, mas no memorable.

Los dos protagonistas tuvieron sus actitudes malas.

    Con un final feliz bonito.

Disappointing. Love nothing more than a well written second chance/secret baby story. This was not it. Characterisations were so off and don’t laugh but the plot-line really implausible. She just blurted out a massive secret to another employee who she was just becoming friends with. No way. His reaction to the news: so understanding!! And his petty jealously? Come on, he was meant to be a CEO of a successful company yet he shouted at a major client to get out of his office and didn’t immediately notice a dodgy looking made-up email. Their daughter was 7, yet was regularly got carried on her mothers hip, like a much younger child and she seemed to giggle whole a lot. Just not well thought out characterisations at all. It had a happy ending though so 2 stars for that!!

Wes and Rian were rivals in college wanting the same internship. Rian gets the internship but also takes a secret with her when she leaves. Now years later she ends up working for Wes and they old sparks are there between them but what will happen when Wes finds out about the daughter, he didn’t know he had? Fast-paced read with steamy chemistry and a story with lots of drama and emotion. Great characters and an entertaining story. I liked it.

Wes and Rian were at college together and the most competitive against each other. So one night they spend together and the next she has left for internship he wanted.

7 years later she is back to their hometown and has her employed to work for him. He doesn’t know it but he has a daughter. She needs to tell him but what’s gonna happen when he finds out?

Whilst I didn’t mind the authors style of writing, I just couldn’t get over the plot or characters. Rian thought she had her reasons but they were stupid. She was stupid. I legit wanted to punch her. She kept moaning he couldn’t trust her... Hello!! You lied to him for years and kept his child from him. Wes had a sweet side but doormat much?! He came across a lot more understanding than most would have been in his situation. I just didn’t enjoy it. The child was 7 but being carried around on the hip?! It was all just a no from me

    Xx

In the last year I have read over 300 books with story line very similar. I felt like this book was missing substance. Would have been nice to know about Rian life in NYC felt like we weren’t getting much of a story. Nor did we get much history of Wes. And what the hell was Beths problem.

Okay - I liked the story, but I think the "s" for this book shouldn't so much be for "secret" but for "selfishness". This story is about Rian and Wes. In college they were very competitive in business. Well the one night that he became her knight by rescuing her, was also the night that they had a one night stand. She never thought she could feel anything for him as they were always trying to prove each other off. Of course, she leaves without a goodbye all because she got the internship he wanted and she was afraid to say something to him. He was left with a broken heart not just because of the internship, but because he actually felt something for her. Years go by as she returns home from NYC and has been hired in the same company which Wes is the CEO. Her secret will be discovered but will it affect the future she could have? Annie has a way of making every story end with a HEA, in which this one has it too, so you will not be disappointed.

Although I know this is just a story, my personal opinion is that there was so much wrong when a person makes the decision to not let the other know that they are expecting, especially when the other parent wasn't abusive or bad in anyway. I can understand being a bit confused as they are both starting their lives, but six years later and still giving herself the logic that it is the right thing to do. I have a huge heart for kids and for a child to not have an opportunity to enjoy what could have been with a father all for a "selfishness" act of a mother, is unacceptable.

This was an enjoyable story to read. Good storyline with in-depth characters. One of those times where communication, or lack of, makes all the difference.

Rian and Wes were very competitive in their small town Nebraska college. When he taunted her to try for the internship that he was after in New York City, she didn't really think should would get it over him. At a graduation party, he saves her from a drunk who was all over her. He ends up taking her home and they enjoy each other through the night. The next day she left for New York. She didn't contact him again. Seven years later, she applies for a job back home in Nebraska after losing her job in NYC. After moving and showing up on her first day, she sees that her new boss just so happens to be Wes. She was hired by the owner of the company, George, who has since retired and put Wes in charge. She has to figure out a way to work things out with her job. She can't uproot her daughter again after just moving here.

Wes is now the CEO of the company he has worked hard at forever. When George, the owner, wanted to retire, he put Wes in charge. He forgot to inform him that he hired a new person for Innovations. She is great in that position, but I can't keep my mind off of her. When we are together, it is all that I can do to keep my hands off of her. When we are pitching for the Investors in NYC and she gets a call about a daughter that I didn't know she has, we fly right back. When I see her daughter, I know she is mine.

Rian and Wes were college rivals and lovers. When Rian got the internship that they both wanted she didn't say anything to Wes they shared an amazing night together and she left for the internship without saying goodbye. Now years later she's back in Nebraska for a new job and when she walks in to see her new boss she's surprised to see Wes. Wes is surprised when Rian is the new hire and wonders what has brought her back to Nebraska. Rian has to make this job work because she has been downsized twice now from her previous jobs and doesn't want to move her daughter again. She gets down to work and is doing a great job when she has to go out of town for work. So her assistant offers to watch her daughter while she's gone. However something happens and her daughter gets hurt and she needs to get back quickly so Wes comes back with her. Once Wes sees Rian's daughter her secret is no longer a secret. Their one night together created their daughter. What will he do? Can they make their relationship work?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I can’t imagine how I would handle the situation that Rian finds herself in when she returns home to Nebraska after several years and a huge secret. Especially, when that secret involves Wes a rival, a one-night stand, her new boss and the father of her seven year old daughter Ronny but, she goes with her logic and perspective. Rian never told Wes about being pregnant nor, he‘s a father. Rian’s secrets keep multiplying in order to keep her secret and her new job. She is just trying to do what she thinks is best even if there‘s doubt and guilt.

I enjoyed the story and found myself trying to predict what the characters reactions would be as the secrets unfold. Other than, the bit of redunant thoughts that go through Wes and Rian’s minds, I think they both display a mature stand and try to see each other’s point of view. They manage to forge a path towards a future, that is, until Beth, Wes‘s assistant who takes an instant dislike towards Rian. The story keeps you interested to see how their story ends and for what the future may hold for this little family.
