What does Lauren Donnelly owe the daughter of the man who died to save her?
The cost of his funeral? A job at her ailing Cape Cod nursery?
The lives of her loved ones?
Or will only her own death settle the score?

On a wintry New England morning an innocent
short-cut turns to disaster when the snow-covered
field Lauren Donnelly crosses turns out to be a
not-so-solidly-frozen stream.
A passing stranger comes to her aid.
Only to fall through the ice himself and
succumb to the frigid waters.
Struggling to come to terms with the tragedy,
Lauren reaches out to the man’s
only daughter and long-time care-giver,
a woman now suffering financial hardship.
But Ada Phelps is not the devoted,
grief-stricken offspring she pretends.
And making people pay for their crimes is
the one thing she has always done best.

This book had me hooked from page one, it is a gripping psychological suspense set in New England and has an original storyline and some great characters. Lauren Donnelly takes a short cut on a cold wintry night across what she believes is a snow covered field but turns out to be a frozen lake. When disaster strikes and a stranger comes to help Lauren, a tragedy occurs when the stranger falls through the ice himself and dies. Lauren is grief stricken and feels guilty at the man, Roger’s, death and wants to help his daughter Ada, who suffers financially after her fathers death. However Ada Phelps is not who she appears to be and Lauren ends up paying again and again for the death of the kindly stranger, from paying for his funeral and even offering Ada a job. When Lauren’s loved ones start getting hurt and strange things happen Lauren starts to wonder if only her death or that of those close to her will satisfy Ada’s need to settle the score.
This is a wonderfully written novel, very atmospheric and full of drama and suspense. It had plenty of twist and turns which kept me turning the pages wondering what would happen next. A psychological thriller at its best. I literally could not put it down.

Die For Me by Diane Hester is quite a well woven, multilayered psychological suspense. The gripping nature of the story kept me avidly reading well past my bedtime, as I really needed to know how everything would end.
Out for a jog on a cold winter’s evening, Lauren could never have predicted the cost her short-cut would incur. Guilt drives her to try and make amends. But things soon take a strange and sinister turn. There is more going on than meets the eye- and the psychological creepiness of the story takes hold.
This is my first read by Diane Hester, so I really wasn’t sure of what to expect from her story. But I do love a gripping story and because the blurb had me so intrigued I quickly pounced on a copy and started reading right away. Diane Hester has proved to be a clever storyteller, producing a well written, detailed and descriptive read. There are several threads to the story which gives her work an extra element of surprise. Things are not what they appear, and my mind was whirling with all the possible scenarios. I though the way everything came together was well thought out- and gave me a taste for Diane Hester’s stories, so I will definitely be going back to read the rest of her books now, too.

    Thank you, Diane Hester!

    DIE FOR ME
    By Diane Hester
    5 out of 5 stars

The story DIE FOR ME by Diane Hester is a thrilling psychological suspense book that I enjoyed reading. It pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It had me on the edge of my seat, turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoyed reading about the character of Lauren Donnelly. She is strong, independent, owns her own nursery, and whose life was saved by a stranger. She also feels guilty that she survived, and the stranger didn’t. This leads her to reach out to Ada Phelps, the survivor’s daughter. How far will Lauren take in repaying the debt of life? Is Ada all she appears to be? Read this book to find out. The story is wonderfully written, and I found myself feeling like I was right there in the story with the characters. I found my mind working overtime to try to uncover the motivations of those around Lauren. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters, many that are friends and work with Lauren at her nursery. I grew to care about Lauren and wanted her to succeed in all that she does. This book also does have a bit of romance. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I love suspense novels and this one is a good example of why. Highly recommended reading.

This was a Kindle book that I received through a Goodreads giveaway. I really enjoyed reading this psychological thriller. While I did know who the “culprit” was early on in the story, this author’s writing style kept me engaged until the end! I would certainly recommend this book to others and I intend to read more books by Diane Hester!

This is one of my first crime thriller novels. I finished this book within a few hours it had me in the edge of my seat. There are many twist and turns I didn't see coming. The characters in this book jump to life and are extremely relatable. I was so not prepared for the end of this story but you will have to read to find out why. I will definitely be reading and recommening Diane Hester.

I enjoyed this psychological thriller. This is a new author for me and I will be looking for more from her. It is a well developed story that I found to be engaging and read in one sitting. The characters made the story feel real. They are connectable and supportive of each other. There are twists and turns in this story that left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what will happen next. Lauren falls through the ice in a stream only to have the person who saved her to lose his life. She has a hard time moving forward from this so she reaches out to his daughter. What happens after that you will have to read and you don’t want to miss what happens next, things may not seem as they really are. I highly recommend reading this book.

This was a great little book. I nearly passed this book over but I'm telling you I am so glad I read Die For Me by Diane Hester. There are two or three stories going on in this book and they are all very skillfully woven together. Tragedy, bitterness, forgiveness, love, all the things that make a story great. As I was reading the story I got all the warm fuzzies and I was thinking oh what a sweet, sweet story because it is. The author pulls you along and lulls you into this wonderful story until she gets you firmly locked into the roller coaster. At that point you can hang it up you're not doing anything else, no dishes will get done, the bed won't get made and the laundry won't get caught up. It was a page-turner for sure a really wild ride. I think I will be reading Diane Hester again.

I really enjoyed this fast-paced psychological suspense. My advice is to not start reading at bedtime. You won’t want to put it down. The main characters are interesting and well developed. And...the villain is so evil.

  • Ember Daley

I could not get enough of this book. It had me from page one and I don’t think I put it down until I was almost finished with it honestly. It was a long night, but so so worth it. There are many twists I didn’t see coming in this book. Definitely adding it to my share and read again list.

This was my first time reading anything by Diane Hester but I can tell you it won’t be my last. I really was excited to read this twisty psychological suspense and thriller from the moment I caught the blurb and synopsis on my feed. I couldn’t wait to see if the book would give me all the chills and thrills that I needed to break up the sappy novels that I have been reading lately. This was just the right fix for that and I loved every moment of the wild ride from beginning to end.

The concept came across as original and well thought up. We have Lauren Donnelly that tells us the story of the time she almost lost her life and instead was saved by a stranger that was not as lucky and died. She feels that horrible survivor's guilt and finds herself reaching out to the daughter of the victim. Unfortunately the daughter has some things she may be hiding… I loved how this book flowed so well from beginning to end with surprises around every corner. There was even a little romance thrown in to lighten the load at times so to speak. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next thing to come from Diane Hester!

This psychological suspense book packs a punch. I love the psychological thriller genre. It gives me that deep thinking that makes my brain wanting more. Diane Hester is a new author to me but trust me when I said I am going to see what other books she has written. Her characters are complex, complicated, believable and mysterious. I read this book in one sitting but let me tell you that I left the light on while reading the book. This author kept me turning the pages faster and faster. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. What really makes this story excel for me is the realism. I can see this story come to life before my eyes. Lauren Donnelly on a winter morning was crossing a stream that was not frozen. That is when a man tried to assist her and fell through the ice. Lauren is trying to reach out to Ada Phelps, the daughter of the man who drowned, but things are not always what they seem. I highly recommend this book as it will give you the heebie-jebbies, what a great psychological suspense book will do in my humble opinion.

Die For Me is quite the psychological thriller that had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. Lauren has an accident and is saved by a stranger who ends up losing his own life. She becomes friends with the stranger's daughter, Ada, for feeling that she's doing the right thing and a sense of survivor's guilt. With Ada, however, things are not quite as they appear to be to Lauren. There were so many twists and turns throughout this book that I couldn't wait to figure it all out in the end. The story was enhanced with supporting characters (and even a little romance) that added to my fascination with where the story was headed.

This was the first book I have read by Diane Hester, but I don't think that it will be the last. I am usually nose-deep in a romance novel, but this book opened my mind to the possibility of switching genres every now and again. It was well written and not like any other stories that I have come across recently. It was a wild and crazy ride that I held on to til the very end!

DIE FOR ME by Diane Hester. This is an amazing read. Its is a book that once you start you will not put down until you are finished so be prepared! Its the story of Lauren Donnelly who is a strong, independent woman who owns her own nursery. When Lauren takes a short cut one morning in her snowy town of New England she ends up in a not so frozen pond fighting for her life. A passing stranger comes to her aid but falls thru the ice and dies. Lauren is haunted by his death and wants to make amends so she reaches out to his caregiver. Unfortunately Ada Phelps the caregiver is not the sweet grief stricken sibling she pretends to be. Once Ada is let into Lauren's life it is turned upside down and not in a good way. This is a great psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your sea.

I was sucked In from the beginning of this book! It wowed me with that first chapter. I can’t even imagine how I would feel. It really slowed down during the middle setting up the big finale. Then really picked back up nearing the end. The characters are good and the story is interesting. There are multi levels of interconnecting characters. The author did a good job making me wonder who the culprit is.

My one suggestion would be when switching between characters POV please add their name to the beginning of that section so the reader can make the switch easily. It was a tad confusing reading about Lauren then it would switch to Ada or even Josh in a blink.

Overall it’s a good suspense story that keeps you mind moving trying to find answers.

This was a great story packed with twist and surprises.

Lauren loves running and one winters day she runs unaware onto a frozen lake. The ice cracks and she falls in. Screaming for help, an old man named Roger hears her and comes to her aid. But in saving her he falls in to the lake himself and dies.

Lauren is devastated that he died saving her and does everything she can to make amends with Roger daughter Ada. From paying for the funeral to offering Ada a job.

But things arent what they seem and when things start happening and people Lauren loves start to get hurt no one has the first idea that the person they should be wary of is the one that no one suspects.

DIE FOR ME by Diane Hester. Wow this story blew me away and I loved every minute of it. This author is new to me and I’m very excited to find more because this author knows how to keep me on the edge of my seat the entire ride. From page one i was completely lost amongst each and every page. Each character brings something different and unique to the storyline and you just can’t help but want to know everything about them. It’s a well thought out and fantastically written story that had me completely hooked. Can’t wait to see what else this author has and where readers are taken next. Five stars all the way and highly recommended.

This book had me hooked til the last page. Kept me on my toes and done very differently than I have read before. Took me on quite the ride. An innocent shortcut proves to be anything but for Lauren and that puts her in the path of Ada. Despite trying to make things right, people close to Lauren start to get hurt and she has to come grips that revenge may never be enough for Ada. I can't put into words what this book did to my thought process as I can usually tell what's going to happen, and while I was right on some things I was thrown for loop after loop.
