    3.25 stars // read August 2021

Hmm. This is a decent enough story, just not really my cup of tea. I could easily see this sort of situation happening in the near future. Yikes! (Less believable: having Great Dane in a small RV and not tripping over him all of the time. :P )
There was less heart-stopping action than what I was expecting, I think mainly because the one POV out of the three who *is* right in the middle of what's going on (Katie) spends most of the book stuck in traffic. "California" doesn't really stand by itself as a novel, but sets things up for later installments. I would recommend this to fans of clean Christian apocalyptic fiction who are willing to commit to a series.

    Action-packed and inspiring!

Christian futuristic fiction is my favorite genre for entertainment reading even though I often disagree with some of the political insinuations it frequently (and usually needlessly) contains. This novel is the first one I’ve read by this author, and I liked it enough that I plan to read her other books as well. One reason I deducted a star is that the characters could be a little rounder and more dynamic. I also wish I could read this kind of book without being subjected to the conspiratorial notion that all democrats are terrorist sympathizers. On the plus side, a few parts of this novel did more than entertain me—they ministered to me. Jamie Lee Grey is clearly gifted and anointed by the Holy Spirit to write even though I might disagree with some of the political views she seems to express. Fans of this genre will NOT be disappointed.

I do not know when this book was written, but it has some scary parallels between political figures who could very well soon be leading our country. God help us all!
Christian fiction that cuts no slack; good descriptions of the direction our nation is going and what can be looked forward to in the not too distant future. Quite chilling and makes me look ever more hopefully toward the Rapture!

This is definitely a real Christian fiction book to my great relief. The story is very good and grabs your attention right away. I couldn't put it down at times! The only negative about it is that it is a cliffhanger, but the main question has been answered. I really hope I'll be able to get the rest of the books eventually.

    Into The Fiery Furnace

Full of Faith Zach and Katie face an inferno like none before! Yet, they still reach out and help others in need. Where so many would only think of themselves they don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk. This is a real page turner! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

    Great read

Jihad, started fires all over CA. They were spread, by the Santa Anna winds. This young couple, very religious, took their RV and truck to escape.
They drove, and prayed. While POTUS, was buying the Mexican President, to let people affected, into Mexico.
Meanwhile, the CA Governor, found out that evil, is closer than you think.

    Gripped to the end

This book I read in a day and could not put it down. Jaime Lee Grey writes a compelling story where you will wAnt to get the next book in the series and continue to find out what happens to Zach and Katie.

    A favorite author

I really enjoy her writing. Her stories hold my interest and concentration. Her surprisingly brings unexpected twists and turns into the story. She is a favorite author of dystopian stories.

    Ok, I’m Hooked!

Great story line, I like the development of the characters and how it shows that God is able to deliver His people. I have got to read the rest of the books in the series. Great job!

    Excellent Book

Well written, fast paced and action packed but never did that take away from the characters in the book. I read this book in one evening it was so good and I will now start the second book in the series. Who knows I may finish that by morning !

Quick read. Zach and Katie, the protagonists, are decent folks, good Christians. The Christian life and faith are written as obvious, but without being awkward or obnoxious. The pre-tribulation dispensationalism is to be expected; it seems to be the default theology of Christian fiction writers.

The President and Vice President are poorly written characters. Caricatures actually.

The story line is not bad. The militant son of the moderate Muslim Governor of California headed a jihad cell that used hundreds of followers to set a huge series of brush fires all up and down the length of the coast of California, and then, once the state's fire fighting forces were fully committed, a second set was set up and down the middle of the state.

Within hours, high winds turned the almost 1000 small fires into an inferno that threatens the entire state.

Katie and Zach, with their 4 year old son Timmy, manage to escape, barely.

Much other mayhem and tragedy ensues. Threats of much more to come, including an undisclosed event that will destroy the rest of the country within a few days.

Although this is no better written than most Christian fiction, at least the genre is different than most. So I will continue the series, at least for one more installment. Then, we will see.

I stole this review but it fit so well that I couldn't have said it better myself
"What a compelling, fast-paced, story of intrigue! With miracles and twists to keep the reader engaged. This author is a genius in her story telling and suburb in weaving a tale that makes you want to read faster to find out what will happen next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mysteries and Christian reading. This book will not disappoint.

This whole series captivated me, it was slow in parts especially the driving in the first book but the overall story was so interesting I had to know what happened. I don't think I have ever read a book with a storyline like this one and that made it special on its own.

Some of the characters are "lame' especially the brother but you needed all the characters to bring the whole story together.

Excellent book. Jamie starts off with a situation I wouldn't have expected, then does a very credible job of playing out the intensity, stress, and intrigue. It's almost what one would expect if certain individuals had succeeded politically and certain events transpired as a result. Great analysis of the political situation.

I read the Band of Believers series and thoroughly enjoyed it. This series shows the author's incredible grasp of politics, social agendas, and understanding of faith. It can get kinda scary.

A interesting plot of possible future terrorist attacks. A group of Jihadist extremists planned to fulfill their calling by starting fires up and down California coasts, then when all reserves are called upon to fight those, and there’s mass hysteria, they started fires in the eastern part of the state, essentially cutting off Californians from escape.

The ending is not an ending, but a lead in to the next book. I’m assuming each book will be like that as the complete story progresses.

    Still very good, and faith-filled.

Overall: Good read with a fast-paced storyline. I really liked the suspense it created and how it honed in on three different storylines over a very short span of time.
Likes: Thought-provoking, End Times fiction, ties up loose ends well. Suspenseful.
Dislikes: Some of the conversations can feel a little cheesy.
Recommend? I would. Warning that it may cause distress for those who find End Times to be an anxiety-inducing topic

Unfortunately it didn't hold my interest. it was good story and reading was easy to do, but it really wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. You right well and organization of thought was well done story line was balanced and there will be those who this kind of story will sync with. I wish you well in writing more stories. We all love a good story which this was, just not my area of liking.
