My first read of 2020 and it's a dnf--I am holding no punches!!
This just was not what I was expecting. Lots of talk about how the alien species needs to mate in order to survive, which is fine as a plot device but it's mentioned nearly every page and got old real quick. Also the alien species speaks and thinks just like humans which I don't particularly like. I prefer when the authors write the aliens as having different speech patterns and different expressions as humans as that seems more realistic. 20% in and I was still waiting for SOMETHING to happen, just not for me. -
She was abducted from Earth by alien slavers, rescued by a hot alien warrior who flees with her into the hostile wilderness of his home, but Ella is uncertain about where they stand due to the inability to communicate with her savior. He was on a mission to find evidence to shut the slavers down for good, but when Teken saw Ella, he realized she was his one true mate.
This new series is off to a wonderful start with a romance that is out of this world energetic and passionate. The story starts off with high levels of suspense and excitement and just keeps building from there as these strong, vibrant characters pull readers into their world. The fast pace keeps readers on the edge of their seat as the couple faces all the dangers of a hostile wilderness and its inhabitants while trying to outrun or hide from the slavers chasing them and that’s not to mention the added complication of not being able to communicate with each other.
The romance is sweet and the chemistry sizzles with electricity despite the communication problem but that is quite a setback in terms of relationship building especially when Ella wants to find a way home. The author has created a delightfully fascinating world with some unique elements and sexy warrior alien wolf shifters that has hearts pounding (beware also may cause some drooling) and some surprising twists including death traps that ensure that there is never a dull moment in this exhilarating and energetic alien romance. -
DNF at 20%. There's a fine line between being brave in the face of fear, and being flat out stupid. I don't do stupid heroines.

Cute, short read
This was a sweet read. I loved Teken. I loved Ella. Their interactions were wholesome and very charming. I am definitely going down an ‘alien romance’ rabbit hole because of this book. So I might as well continue the series. Besides, I am very intrigued to see where the rest of the story leads.
The Gladiator species already have my heart and I can’t wait to read about the rest of them finding their mates. -

The plot moved too slowly, and the insta-love was a bit over the top as in unbelievable for me. The repetitiveness was a hard pill to swallow, cause it felt like it was being forced, instead of informative. I ended up skimming the last 1/3 of the book just to get done. I felt the main characters were flat. I really didn't feel like I knew them or could relate to them. Ella was all over the place, one minute a city girl, the next a bad @ss killing slavers, and the Teken was too mild mannered in his behavior most of the time for being alpha. No, I won't be continuing with the series, and I wish I had quit early on instead of wasting my time...

It’s so hard to find black FMC in these type of romance stories. It actually pains me to rate it so low. There was a lot of fast paced action in this book, so that kept it moving. However, many times I found myself bored and would put the book down to do other things. I don’t know about you, but I prefer a story to keep me engrossed. The intimacy between the Ella and Teken were boring as well. When I read an alien romance I want at least the steamy scenes to be out of the ordinary. It was extremely vanilla with a mating bite added to it. I mean I know I suspended disbelief when it comes to these stories, but for Ella to fall in love with Teken while they are on the run from slavers, a couple of bouts of boring sex and unable to understand each others’ language is pushing it. She would say she’s falling in love with him and then two paragraphs later she would bemoan their unavailability to communicate so she could get to know him better. Like what? The whole shifter aspect seemed unnecessary as well. His mating frenzy just seemed like regular lust. It was like warm at best.

Ella was kidnapped is living a nightmare. Kidnapped by aliens. She desperately needs to figure out how to escape. Her translator is broken so she can't communicate at all or listen in on her captors. She is running out of hope, until she sees a sexy as all get out alien.
Teken is an alpha shifter of the Gladiator Wulfaen race. He needs to figure out a way to release the kidnapped women. Slavery is wrong and he will not stand for it. His plans go completely out the window when he sees his fated mate..in the middle of his mission.
I enjoyed this book so much! I've read alien romance before but not shifter aliens. There was so much detail packed in this story. I felt like I was there when Ella and Teken were running for their lives. The chemistry between Ella and Teken...🔥. I can't wait to read more from this author! -
2.00 Stars. (BW/Blue four armed shift shapening alien). Kindle Edition e-book. Ella is one of many human females abducted from Earth and are being held off planet an sold as sex slaves. Teken is a wolf shifter and alpha Wulfaen Gladiator. Wulfaen females have become extinct and the remaining males will follow if they do not find sexually compatible females to claim as mates. Although Teken is about to go into heat, he foolishly goes alone to free the human females being held at facility on his planet. If Teken or any Wulfaen Gladiator goes into heat unmated, he could die and if he goes into heat and is mated, he is weakened and vulnerable because he will need frequent sexual release with his mate. The story would have been better if the author had remedied the language barrier sooner. Teken and Ella have sex while being chased and shot at by the facility's cyborg guards; however, the couple's inability to communicate prevents the reader from gleaning any romanic or emotional connection between the couple.

Ms. Venez is so versatile. Her stories range from contemporary love stories to heated paranormal and sci fi selections! Her latest release takes us to space and is a mated/shifter trope. Our hero, Teken. is one of her more unusual male characters: he is a wolf shifter and also has four arms when he is in his "normal" alien form. His species is dying out as they are unable to find mates. Unscrupulous pirates are taking earth women to fill the void. On a reconnaissance mission, Teken rescues Ella and they escape in an action packed adventure across hostile terrain! I enjoyed all aspects of this story and Ella and Teken made a cute couple.

Interesting first book in the series
Interesting first book. It leaves the reader with several things unresolved. So hopefully the next book comes out soon.
Ella is kidnapped from Earth by slavers and taken to another planet far away to be trained and then sold as a breeder to the Wulfaen.
Teken is a four armed alien who shifts into a huge wolf like creature called a Wulfaen. He is alpha and goes to a facility undercover to find out if the human women are being abused and to form a plan to free them because they were once slaves too.
They meet, escape and have a harrowing adventure as they try to reach his home. -
I have always loved a good Beauty and the Beast story! This was no exception. I was hooked from the beginning to the very end. It has a great plot, with the heroine waking to learn she has been abducted by alien slavers. The slavers plan to train her and then sell her again. But she is seen by an Alpha wolf shifter who hates slavers. And after seeing her, he knows she must be rescued, as she is his! But it won't be easy. They can't communicate. They have slavers persuing them, and Ella just wants to go home.
How can Alpha, Teken, convince her that they belong together? Romantic and steamy. -
On The Run
Ella and Teken met in a slave holder facility where Ella was being “conditioned “ to be a hostess. But Ella was a abducted human and Tekken recognized her as his fated mate. Their escape to his home was full of danger and heated, steamy scenes that made me blush..just kidding. It was hot though. I liked the overall storyline and think it could lead to more books about this race of Gladiators trying to find their fated mates and the evil slavers they have to deal with. And just because it’s a familiar alien romance premise I think the author did a good job of making her world building a little different. -
I enjoyed this story! I liked the characters and loved that Ella was so strong. She refused to give in and just give up, even with everything she was facing and refused to be broken. Teken loved that strength about her. This was interesting with their trouble communicating and I loved that they still found ways to get some communication across even though it wasn’t everything, it was what needed at the time. This story was well written and I would really like to see where this series could go and how more couples come together and find true mates. This story pulled me in from beginning to end and had plenty of action and intrigue along with the romance and relationship.

Wrapped In Arms Of Protection
Where can I get a protector like Tekken? Shoot I need to be his shelekin to make it work,
If you are looking for a few good laughs this book you will not find it in this story. Don't get me wrong you may crack a few smiles but no belly laughs. The story in itself is kind of serious but it keeps the reader it engaged because you want to know which way things will turn out.
If this book is a start of a new series I think it should do very well if I seriously enjoyed getting to know these characters and what makes the tick.

I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and an exciting, fast-paced story. I always enjoy the language barrier issue in at least a portion of my alien novels because it gives the characters a chance to get to know each other and express themselves and their intentions through their actions not merely in words, which may be mistrusted. I also loved that Teken is an alien who is a wolf shifter. I think I've only encountered one other wolf-shifting alien in all the novels I've read. I really loved both their personalities. Ella is one tough woman! A great story! 5 stars.

3 Stars!
I am a sucker for fated mates and combine that with a Beauty and the Beast retelling ... I was sold! Overall this story was good but the pace was slow. I found myself skimming through many of the chapters. There were also some really funny and tender moments. Perhaps I'll try to re-read this novel in the future and give it another try.
No cheating or ow/om drama
Spicy scenes
Dual POV

Interesting
I really liked this couple. I was relieved that Ella wasn't simple minded & goofy. She wasn't afraid of Teken & trusted her instincts. I was disappointed that a silly plot device like their inability to communicate was used for 80% of the book. It was stifling to the story & diluted the romance. It was a bold choice that didn't pay off. People don't want to read a book where the main leads are isolated AND can't talk to each other. -
Ella and Teken are perfect together!! She’s a human that was abducted by aliens and being “conditioned” to please her new owner. Teken is the Alpha of the Wulfean Gladiators and sets out to gather all the information to shut down the slavers. When Ella meets Teken he knows right away that she is his mate. He breaks her out but that is just the tip of their adventures. With the language barrier and the cyborg chasing them will they make it to Teken’s territory safely?

Ella is abducted from earth by alien slavers until she is rescued by another alien Teken they don’t understand each other but Ella can’t help being attracted to him but right now they have the alien slavers chasing them so can Teken keep his mate safe?, well I will let you find that out for yourself. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book.
