The Montana family made a big mistake!

They thought they were opening up their sprawling ranch house and their stables to four retired cowgirls and their horses. Turns out three of the four women aren’t cowgirls at all, and their horses aren’t ranch horses either.

And then there is the cheating husband that came along for the ride.

The word ‘baggage’ just got a whole new meaning.

If you think senior living means the party is over, then you haven’t spent a night at The Silver Spurs Home for Aging Cowgirls where romance is in the air and sleeping with another woman’s man can be murder.

This politically incorrect black comedy is one part Murder She Wrote and one part Blazing Saddles for lovers of outrageous romantic comedies and cozy mysteries where spurs are jingling and mysteries are afoot. Oh, and we can't forget horse and dog lovers too.

More information:

When the Montana family decide to turn their struggling ranch into a senior’s home for retired cowgirls and their horses, they don’t realize how much baggage comes along with them, not to mention the fact that only one of the four ladies who move in is a ‘real’ cowgirl, and one of them also comes with a husband with a wandering eye.

Sam Montana thinks he’s seen it all until the four ladies show up with four stallions, blankets for every season, more tack than the barn has room for, and a list of what to feed and what not to feed the horses that is longer than his arm.

Young widow, Emma Montana, and her children all agreed that a group of retired cowgirls in the house would be fun…just like having four new cowgirl grandmas. They didn’t count on a cheating husband, his completely disabled wife left helpless after a massive stroke, his mistress of forty years, and the multi-divorcee deciding that Sam’s the new mount she wants to ride. And then there are the crude jokes and midnight capers. Throw in a love struck sheriff, a jealous Forest Ranger, a hot ATF agent, a plane crash, a fugitive on the loose, and a rogue mountain lion, and Emma is over her head in no time.

This politically incorrect laugh-out-loud black comedy will leave you wondering just what your grandmother is up to when you aren’t around.

The Silver Spurs Home for Aging Cowgirls Reviews

  • Anneliese Grassi

Honestly, with a synopsis like that, who needs a review! I could not have said it better myself!

This book has it all: war heroes, tragedy, love, family, money, horses, horny grandmas, a drug smuggler, a killer cougar, adultery, murder, and…. Wait for it….. Puppies!

It is lighthearted and fun, yet touches on some deep topics. Honestly, I needed a good laugh, and this one had me laughing out loud quite a few times, and totally eye-rolling at other times.

Definitely pick this one up for a fun, quick, easy read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and have voluntarily left this review.

This book is 100% entertainment! Like someone else said It totally could (should) be a Netflix movie! I recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humor. I hope the next books in this series are just as good.

Funny western style book you could never have imagined!
Emma is a widow with two children and they live on a ranch with Sam Montana. Sam is the father of Emma's soldier husband killed in combat. They are having a hard time holding onto the ranch as the property taxes have gone out the roof. Cattle are gone and the ideas they have tried just didn't work out. So they try one last thing which is to turn the ranch into a retirement home for aging cowgirls. And they have plenty of room for the horses too.
And so they get an eccentric group of 4 older woman and their fancy horses. Plus one cheating husband that comes with two of the women.
Meanwhile there is a fugitive on the loose out in the mountains, a cougar killing livestock to deal with as well.
Funny but gets a bit too crazy in some parts but still a good read.

The main thing about this book is that it is completely 100% hilarious! The characters are quirky, the situations are bizarre, and the humor is present on every page. I honestly laughed out loud multiple times.

The main idea is that a family needing extra income decides to open their home to some retired cowgirls and their horses. What they get is NOT what they expected. There is a lot going on, and it's all humorous. You'll enjoy getting to know Emma and her family, as well as the "cowgirls" and their various hangers-on.

So much fun! Give this one a chance if you're looking for a fun, light read, or just need a good laugh!

    Crazy Murder

When they can’t afford the land taxes on their ranch any longer, the Montanas open a retirement home for aging cowgirls, the four of which come with fine horses and crazy attitudes. When this book is described as a “naughty” romantic comedy it means it shouldn’t be grabbed by anyone not approving of “naughty”!!!

    Netflix where are you

If this is not an Emmy winning limited series waiting to be maid, I will eat my rust brown Stedson. I laughed so hard my wife wondered what the hades I was reading. I half way have the cast picked. Sam Elliott will need time off from his other shows. Take the time to enjoy it, you will not be sorry.

    Truly dreadful.

I cannot fathom the multi-starred reviews for this book. Poorly written, very poorly edited. The humor ranges from aw-shucks to filthy, with even a racial slur thrown in with a wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Every hackneyed cliche is employed. Seriously, this a complete train wreck.

    What a hoot

My, my who would of thought that that aging equestrian could be so lovable and hilarious. A Montana ranch turned retirement home for sassy old ladies and their horses. Absolutely adored each and every character.
I will read the the series with eager anticipation for the series to continue.
Bravo on a great fun read.

    Lighthearted

Amusing story, not “naughty” nor nice. One of the old ladies is really like able. I’m hoping the characters are more developed in book 2, which I do plan to read. Recommended for any ranch lady who needs a chuckle or two. Fun.
