Daily Praise: Prayers of Adoration by Chris Allen

Much of American worship—in services and on Christian radio—is about God, but directed to others. That witness is important and shouldn’t be neglected, but God is worthy of direct thanksgiving, worship, and praise. Jesus made this clear when He taught His disciples to begin prayer with “Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.” The word “hallowed” means “revered” or “honored.” Too often prayer can become a list of requests, taking no time to honor God. Daily Praise offers 366 brief prayers of adoration—one for each day of the year. These prayers are adapted from scripture, taking material about God from the Psalms, Isaiah, and other Old Testament books and using it to worship God Himself. These “training-wheels of praise” guide readers toward prayer that reveres God first and foremost.
