Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 9 (Ouran High School Host Club, #9) Reviews
-
That episode where Tamaki is faking a cold to ignore his feelings for Haruhi is gold, and that ending where Mori admits he wants to kiss Hunny, that’s GOLD people and I’m personally offended that it was not included in the anime version.
-
Aww this volume was just so cuteee. I loved the parts showing the past and the formation of the club a lot !
-
3.5 🌟
Tamaki es adorable. -
This one had a few episodes that weren't on the show. I think it's getting more in more into some of the newer stuff I wouldn't have seen before. I really love this series and will be sad to see it go when I make it to the end. That's why I'm just taking my time with it.
-
I just love this series. I especially love this installment because of the twins' backstory!
-
More Hikaru and Kaoru backstory! These precious boys need to learn to trust others. I adore Tamaki for making that happen and for making their lives better. I think in the volume Bisco Hatori said that this is the last volume that will have backstory on the characters. I’m a little bummed about that because I do like peeking into their pasts, but it will also be great to be moving forward with the storyline!
The Princess Michelle episode was cute and a bit heartbreaking. Tamaki being sick because he’s starting to realize he’s having un-fatherly feelings for Haruhi was just hilarious. I’m glad he’s starting to realize his romantic feelings for her. Hopefully he keeps progressing!
Then we had another Love Egoist episode. This one didn’t include any inappropriate teacher/student relationships and was cute… so that was nice.
All in all—a 5/5 stars volume! And now I’m halfway done with the series. ^.^ -
tamaki sick with literal heartache over haruhi and still not knowing he has a crush on her… he’s so stupid but i love him so much
-
I loved the first (how the twins joined the Host Club) and the last (Tamaki having the flu) episodes. I didn't really care much for the episode with the princess, though it does give us a bit more of a background on Tamaki and the opportunity to let him and Haruhi get closer. I love how freaking clueless Tamaki is when it comes to his feelings for Haruhi, haha! The bonus material was once again superb, I want an Egoist Club series!
-
I liked the first story in this volume about how the twins joined the host club. I also liked the third story about Tamaki being “sick.” I could have done without the second story about that annoying princess though.
-
Oh the shenanigans...
The bonus story at the end was hilarious! I love those guys!! -
Omg, things are heating up - and then Tamaki the Clueless strikes again.
Mori?? -
Amó como cada vez la personalidad de Tamaki se va desarrollando y como en cada capitulo se ve lo buena persona que es... en este mango conocemos como Tamaki logró que los gemelos se unieran al Club de anfitriones <3
-
Oh wow, this is going to end up as a whole big mess. I'm hoping tamaki wins haruhi.
MORI IS STILL MY FAVOURITE THOUGH. MORE MORI PLEASE.
If my future self is looking back and this and wondering why she read two OHSHC volumes in one day... it's because you got excited and ordered seven volumes from the library one night at 3am and now they're all due back in two days and you've only read one of them. -
This vol, is amazing , love it ♥️
-
Tamaki casi llegando a las conclusiones correctas es lo mejor de este volumen. Lo segundo mejor es Tamaki enredándolo todo solo como él sabe hacerlo. 🌟
-
Another storyline that wasn’t animated
-
هر چپتر و هر ولوم زود تموم میشه اما کلی میخندوتم.
-
Very cute!! Very much enjoying reading the series
-
The way Tamaki convinces the Hitachiin twins, Kaoru and Hikaru, to join the host club is amazing! I love his dedication and how much he truly sees and understands about people.
The princess part isn't my fav. I really am not a fan of entitlement to that extent. I understand it yes, doesn't mean I like it.
Poor sick Tamaki!!! I sort of rolled my eyes and laughed at this portion just because it is SO BLATANTLY OBVIOUS what is going on. The fact that he is so blind to it makes him endearing. -
Overall Rating: A
Synopsis: Created by Bisco Hatori, the series follows Haruhi Fujioka, a scholarship student at the prestigious Ouran High School. Haruhi is a girl, but she got gum put in her hair so she cut it short, and wears boys clothes. This wouldn't be terribly important, but one day she stumbles across the school's Host Club. The Host Club is basically a place for six idly rich pretty boys to be idly rich pretty boys, and idly rich pretty girls to come and fawn over them and pretend the boys are their fiancées and boyfriends. After breaking an extremely valuable vase, it is determined that Haruhi will work off her debt by becoming a member of the club. Despite the fact that she is neither idly rich, nor a boy. Oh ho dear readers, what will happen next?
After reading the description for the series, I knew I would love Ouran High School Host Club. Or, more accurately, I hoped it wouldn't be one of those manga that sounds really good, and then sucks. I read the first volume last night, and kept bothering my girlfriend by giggling while she was trying to work. I particularly loved the Host Club members, and especially loved Tamaki, the Host Club King.
He insists that everyone call him the king of the host club (even though no one does), and sulks in the corner if anyone is mean to him (which happens a lot). In short, he reminded me of me. Therefore, I spent most of the night posing, pouting, and acting like the characters in the book. I couldn't tell if this delighted or annoyed my girlfriend, or both. I am betting on the latter.
I also enjoyed how fascinated the club members were by "proletarian" food, like instant coffee and ramen. They had never eaten it before, and make a huge fuss about trying some "prole coffee". It's hilarious. I highly recommend this one to fans of Shojo manga.

Kaoru & hikaru backstory of how they're meet tamaki n joined ouran high host club. Casanova guy still likes haruhi even though haruhi think of him as friend(previous volume) 😂☺️. I really like their relationship but is short scenes. there's haruhi & hikaru moment ♥️. tamaki got lovesick but he never realize it even he keep thinking about haruhi. Tamaki's father visit him n giving advice as father kissing son at his forehead plus tamaki kiss haruhi on her forehead.😂♥️ Kaoru & hikaru(in include me(reader's) wanted to kill the princess Michelle 😂😂 because of her bratty ways. I was curious that Mori senpai wanted to kiss honey-senpai 🤔 😲. Now that made me wanted to read more. Next volume 10 pls~

I JUST LOVE EVERYONE SO MUCH
-
4 Stars
Love the twins! Tamaki's past makes me sad, but also shows me how strong he is as a person. -
Halfway through now! And it's getting better and better as I keep going. I can't wait to see how it concludes!

Volume 9 finally shows us how Tamaki convinced the twins to join the Host Club! Hikaru and Kaoru obviously deal with an identity issue, so Tamaki telling them that they can be separate people and still be a set was obviously world-shattering to them. Tamaki can seem almost selfish in his persistence, but his good heart always shines through as he obviously wants the best for the twins. I'm really curious why the anime gave the flashback version of the twins bowl cuts while they have their normal hair cuts in the manga, what an odd choice.
The next story has a princess from a small (fake) European country visiting Ouran Academy. Tamaki goes out of his way to cater to her, angering the twins in particular. The princess is more of a plot device to get us to the end of the story, where Haruhi confides in Tamaki her reason for attending Ouran Academy. This is a big moment for Tamaki, as he sees the normally stoic Haruhi being vulnerable with him. As the end of the chapter says, Tamaki is starting to understand that his feelings might be bigger than he thought. Funniest moments were everyone dressed up at pirates at the beginning (because it is just so ridiculous) and the twins trying their best to serve the princess and getting angry at her behavior.
Of course, in the next story Tamaki completely backpedals and makes himself physically ill worrying about his feelings for Haruhi. We see more of Tamaki's backstory and start to understand his current situation in the Suou family. It was really nice to see Tamaki's father again, as he is so loving in the manga compared to his anime counterpart. Though his doting fatherly ways confuse Tamaki about his feelings... again. Funniest part was Tamaki's commoner snack collection and him trying to give the figurines to Haruhi.
In the bonus story the Host Club tries to interfere with Haruhi again by secretly replacing everything in her apartment with higher quality versions of those things made to look the exact same, so she wouldn't know that they had been replaced. And I mean everything, from the walls to the floors to the curtains. It's adorable how they want to spoil her, even though they certainly aren't taking her opinion into consideration. Fortunately the timely arrival of Ranka defeats their plans, though they somehow sneak a very expensive doorknob on to the bathroom door. This whole little chapter was hilarious and so fitting for the Host Club!
5/5, all the stars, looking forward to the next volume!
