The Picnic Reviews

A good solid level 1 reader, it was on the easy side for my 5 yr old. The story was simple, but still had some good educational qualities, like learning new names. I also liked the fun activities included in the back of the book. It made it a win win for the entire family, even my preschoolers.

Used this with a first grader who's a little below grade level and REALLY needs to work on comprehension. He put it in the "like" pile when we were done, but he didn't ask to reread, so it wasn't a love. It was a good little early reader, but I though the ending was a tad abrupt. Kiddo looked a little confused when he turned the page and there was no more story. The extension ideas are cute, but I would have liked a more conclusive ending.

This book was cute and it talk about going on the picinc. What were you going to take on this picnic and who were you going to take. What I also liked about this book was that at the end of the book it show how to make different things that you can take with you on the picnic and it gave you step by step on how to make different things.

This is a level 1 story; so basic words and often repeatative ones. Illustrations were big and bright for young eyes. In the back are activities one could do with children pertaining to summer.

Loved the simplicity of this book. Repetition, familiar words and fun colors.
