Teach Yourself Creative Writing Reviews

This has a lot more exercises to get you into the mode of writing. I didn't do any because I never really struggle with "starting" to write, but some of the exercises sounded interesting enough. It wasn't a bad book on creative writing but a little MOR.

this was an excellent read as it delved into all the types of writing plus gave exercises to do, great resource book

Creative Writing is a concise and yet quite complete view of creative writing in general. I have spent a lot of time looking for information on this subject and this is the best collection of information that I have found so far in a single book.

That being said it obviously suffers from being in printed form in an industry that is changing so quickly, so even though this book may only be a few years old, it is probably very out of date.

There still seems to be a lot of information there that is relevant though so all in all it is a good book and excellent as a reference book to keep coming back to.

A self help book that combines exercises and tips based on writer's experience, it is a useful textbook. However it seems trying hard to get everything in in a concise manner. Added to it, the lack of further reading pointers, it seems off putting in some of the topics like dialogues, point of views, characterizations and settings.
