When an EMP devastated the nation's power supplies and left the country in ruins, Jack, Wayne, Susan, Emma and Logan all fought to seek shelter in a treacherous first day.
But surviving the first day was just the beginning.
Jack has found his way home. But when tragedy strikes, he is forced on a personal journey across the country to seek new shelter--and face up to the harrowing demons of his past.
Wayne's search for Candice is going nowhere. But when a stunning discovery breathes new life into his journey, he is determined to make one final push through the rapidly collapsing towns and cities. Just how fatal will that decision be?
Susan is trying her best to maintain order at the makeshift hospital. But when chaos takes over, she must embark on a mission to get Tommy to safety. With droves of looters already filling the streets, and fires spiralling out of control, just how far will she go to keep Tommy safe?
After the Fall is the second book in the Surviving the EMP post apocalyptic series chronicling five very different survivors and the way they handle disaster. If you enjoy stories of ordinary people thrown into devastating new circumstances, you'll love After the Fall.
After the Fall (Surviving the EMP #2) Reviews
-
As I was reading this second book, it occurred to me that only 3 or 4 days have elapsed since the EMP and it seems like Britain fell into complete, lawless chaos very quickly. I could see it in the big cities perhaps, but all of these smaller towns and villages have that many criminals waiting to pounce? They must hide it well the many, many times I have been there. This book 2 does start to weave the separate story lines together a little better, though a proofreader would still be helpful.

Estos pobres no tienen descanso.

If you can leave a series unfinished I recommend you only read the first two books. Book 3 ruins everything.
Spoilers
I was skeptical of all the gratuitous violence. All the constant horrific things that kept happening. It was too much. More than could be believable. But book 2 ends on a reasonable enough high note considering what happenned next...
Then book 3 happenned. I'll be direct. Sorry. Jack and Logan end up in a war over the death of one of Logan's people. We find out that Logan has been lying to himself about the circumstances of his imprisonment. The false narrative really pissed me off! As the reader you are convinced that Logan is on a Redemption Journey or at the very least was wrongfully imprisoned. Wrong! He killed them, he murdered the wife and the daughter in front of the husband before he killed him. And then he just decided to convince himself that he didn't do it. I really don't like that the author manipulated his readers this way. Jack utilizes some really bad guys to try and get Logan killed simply because Logan refuses to give up his revenge. And then Jack and his family lose the farm. Logan shoots Wayne and then Wayne dies. Logan gets shot in the chest and still can't let s*** go. So of course, Logan decides to shoot Jack in the chest. Emma Frisch's Logan to the ground and Jack ends up stabbing Logan in the throat. Logan dies. The bad guys took over the farm are convinced to help keep Jack alive. The book ends with Jack and his ex-wife and the girls walking off for greener pastures. This book was awful. I gave it three stars because I actually liked book 1 and 2.
It doesn't help that Logan and Wayne were my favorite characters. Just saying -
It is the second day after the EMP. The world is falling apart quickly. Looting. Murders. Gangs. Fires. How long will it take for civilization to collapse?
With the sheer amount of chaos that is happening in the book there are a surprising lot of casual meetings of the characters. I realize with such a huge cast of characters and an equally huge setting, sometimes the author has to force situations but sometimes they were way too neatly arranged. On the other hand EVERYTHING that could possibly go wrong does. The author has a very pessimistic view of humanity.
I almost set this book down several times. Just as the characters seem to be getting things going in the right direction another terrible thing would happen. It got overwhelming and hard to read it was so depressing.
The characters are believable and likable. The story is just very violent and at times depressing.
Triggers and Rating
Triggers- Throats slit. Shoot in the stomach. A woman is kidnapped and it is implied she will be raped.
Rating -R - Language. Adult situations. Violent graphic murders. -
The second book continued to be boring despite the interesting characters.
But It felt like they just aimlessly wander around. And in those moments, the small inconsistencies stand out. Like why Logan never thought to change his clothing, out of prison gear?
Or why at times it seems they don’t need much food or water to survive. At times the author is more focused on their psychological struggles than on what a daily struggle it is to satisfy the bodily functions and needs. And not to mention the medical consequences, the aches, blisters and muscle cramps that walking around like that would cause. Not to mention being additionally injured.
It’s a bit melodramatic. -
I don't know what to tell you. This is not a good book. The plot is all over the place, characters flip personalities constantly, ever book a character died- its basically a bingeable low quality Netflix show in book form. But I like it.

Wow
Great story. Book 2 was better than book 1. Good post apocalyptic thriller. Hoping book 3 can live up to this one! -
Engaging narrative
What is most enjoyable are the rich characters he creates; it makes one read on and on. I'm enjoying the series. -

Not the most compelling plot. Author writes many books a year has a hard time making compelling plot or characters
