Grayson
I was a billionaire by the age of thirty—I’ve always taken what I wanted, and I never let anyone stand in my way. That attitude got me my own private island and a bevy of people to do my bidding. But it didn’t get me the one man that got away—Liam Gold.

Liam is back in Abingdon now, and he’s just as beautiful as the day he left. He’s also covered in tattoos, living in a van, and completely unemployed. Definitely not an appropriate match.

But when have I ever been appropriate?

Liam
People seem to think that just because I’m homeless, I shouldn’t be living with a mega-hot billionaire. Kinda seems like they’re jealous, don’t you think?

They say I’m a swindler. A con artist. A gold digger. Hungry for Grayson Ellis, and even hungrier for his money. So what if I am?

I never got a real chance to be with Grayson. We were too young and too scared to make it work. Now that I’m back, and Grayson has offered to give me a hand, I’ll accept whatever he has to give.

Let the people say what they want. I am running a long con, but it’s not what they think. If I can get that man to fall in love with me, I’ll move heaven and earth to make him happy.

Everyone deserves a second chance. Even a stone cold loser like me.

    I'm conflicted.
I really liked both Grayson and Liam. I could feel the connection between them and how much they cared and loved each other pretty much from the start. I rooted for them and wanted them to be together and live their happily ever after. However, the journey they took to get there was... interesting. I don't care much for a quite a few things that happened to them. Especially Liam. That poor guys just had bad things happening to him over and over again.

I feel like the author didn't know what to do with this one. The writing wasn't at the standard where it usually is and some of the events in this book felt like they were just added for the drama instead of adding something that would elevate the story.

Let's talk about the epilogue for a second.

3.5* wasn’t my favourite in the series but it was still a good read. Grayson the billionaire and Liam the ex football star fallen on hard times. They on paper you’d think wouldn’t work but omg these guys were a great couple and I loved the second chance for Liam at love and life. I can’t wait to read the final book In this series.

The story of Grayson, CEO of a tech company and billionaire and Liam, his high school crush and then best friend is completely ridiculous.
Liam was a football player and starting a successful career that ended when he was severely injured during a game. Now he is living on the streets with his dog and when those two meet again they are immediately drawn to each other.
But Liam knows that he has nothing to offer for a man like Grayson, everyone else reminding him of that fact quite clearly as well.
He doesn't want to be the gold digger who drags Grayson down and damages his reputation, jeopardizing the success of Graystone company and a possible takeover.
As I wrote before, this book is absolutely unbelievable, it's sappy, extremly sweet, and yeah I admit it, I loved every single page.
The "rich boy - poor boy" trope usually works well for me and it definitely did with this story.
After reading some really depressing second chance books, I was probably ready for something lighthearted. There is a little drama in here, but it's almost not worth mentioning, being solved quickly.
Don't expect a clever plot or great writing.
Still, for me this was a typical m/m romance with all the necessary ingredients and I loved it! 3.5 stars

This story was sweet and the two MC’s were cute together but their reunion was not dramatic enough for my taste. Way too quick!
I also didn’t like the use of the wrong name, which happens a lot, starting with the prologue that said ‘Liam’ in the header but was from Grayson’s POV. It caused a lot of confusion.
And if you want to translate an expression into another language, NEVER USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE!
‘He is spoken for’ does NOT translate to ‘Il a parlé pour’ 😂😂 😂

3 and 1/2 stars. It was a good story, but there were many editing errors that were distracting. I haven’t read any of the other books, but certainly might.

Darn it,Tatum West, you made me cry! You've put poor Liam through so much,it's no wonder he finds it hard to trust. Always used and thrown away,it's not a surprise that he thinks he's got nothing to offer to a successful man like Grayson. So many time while reading the book I wished I could reach him and give him a hug.
I love Gold Digger. A touching second chances love story, beautiful characters and the great community of Abingdon. My favorite book by Tatum West yet.

    Made Me Smile

I enjoyed this book. Little angst. Lots of hotness. The story is a!most completely about Grayson and Liam. We only see the other guys of the series in little visits. I love the little twists at the end. Made me smile

This puts me two behind in the series.

I need to slow down so I can start catching up already.

"I really, deeply believe that dreams do come true. Often, they might not come when you want them. They come in their own time." ~ Diana Ross

From most people’s perspective, Grayson Ellis and Liam Gold, of ‘Gold Digger’ by Tatum West, are two of the most unlikely friends ever. Grayson is the brilliant gay geek, headed for CalTech, while Liam is the star quarterback, destined for football greatness, possibly a star for the NFL. Grayson helps Liam academically while Liam is his protector. They are the best of friends, joined at the hip. Secretly, they both want it to be more, but considering Liam’s sports aspirations, acting on their feelings is out of the question.

Years later, Grayson has succeeded in creating a billion dollar plus business empire, while Liam’s luck has not been good. Liam’s dreams of success were crushed due to a freak football accident. When his world fell apart, Liam, a former foster child, had no safety net. Grayson is proud of his success, he enjoys the perks that his position affords him, but working ninety-hour weeks is getting old. He has absolutely no time for himself. Under the guise of attending his sister’s wedding, he goes back to Abingdon, for some much-needed downtime.

While there, he runs into Liam, whom he hasn’t seen in years. Grayson has had relationships in the past, but no one else has ever come close to what he feels for Liam. He’s thrilled to see him again and is anxious to renew their acquaintance. Seeing Grayson again makes his heart beat faster, but he quickly comes crashing back down to earth. What in the world does he have to offer Grayson now? It takes a while to do so, but Grayson unravels the circumstances of Liam’s hesitancy. Even when Grayson discovers that Liam is living in his car with his beloved dog, who is the only being he has that cares about him, it makes absolutely no difference. Grayson never stops to consider how it will look or what people will say; he starts scheming to make Liam’s life better and, if possible, to find a way to keep him in his lif, permanently.

One of the things I enjoy most about this series is that status does not determine the final outcome. Tatum breaks the molds of convention and stereotypes by creating characters who are able to overcome the barriers that could be a deal-breaker in other relationships because these men learn follow their hearts. Although I have my favorites, like Nikki for one, I’ve fallen in love with each and every one of the characters. Thanks, Tatum, for introducing me to all of the Abingdon crew. I hope there are more stories to be told in this great series.

  • Wide Eyes, Big Ears!

Teen sweethearts Grayson Ellis and Liam Gold lose touch at the end of high school when Liam gets a football scholarship and is drafted into the big leagues. Meanwhile, Grayson creates a fabulously successful tech company. A massive injury cuts Liam’s sporting career short, putting paid to his fame and fortune and these days his only companion is his faithful dog, Beau. When Grayson eventually tracks Liam down in Abingdon, the difference in their financial and social status is huge, but Grayson wants to help Liam out. Pretty soon the rumour mill is calling Liam a gold digger and Grayson’s secretly negotiated merger is put in jeopardy.

I liked most things about this second-chances / rags-to-riches romance, especially Liam’s continually decent personality. Liam, on the other hand, felt a little unreal - he was an amazingly successful businessman and yet he seemed naive about how Liam would be perceived by others and oblivious to the power imbalance between him and Liam. He seemed to think money would just solve everything. The roadblocks in the story were legitimately important but each got solved pretty easily and I felt that a longer story could have added some depth to the solutions. After five audios, I’m resigned to Alexander Cendese (as Liam) and Tor Thom (as Grayson) as the narrators. I still don’t think they’re a natural fit but I’m used to the pairing now (most of the series is currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).

Grayson and Liam's relationship started back in high school, friends with a pining for more- but both have aspirations that will lead them in opposite directions out of Abingdon, college football for Liam and Engineering for Grayson.
Promises to stay in touch fall to the wayside as they pursued their goals.
Grayson never forgot Liam; he had been searching for him for years when an overdue break from the intense world of business brings him back to Abingdon, catching sight of Liam in their hometown, he knows that this opportunity cannot be wasted!
The question is, can Liam handle Grays' high dollar fast moving life, intense business transactions, and social media scrutiny that comes with being the boyfriend of a Billionaire CEO?
Can Gray convince him they'll make it through any storm better together than apart?
    Wow!
I did not see that coming! My heart was bursting at the seams for these two!
A stellar storyline, with fascinating twists that incorporated a heart of hearts love, some buckle your seat belt and, get ready to ride drama, with real feels and electrifying character connections. A second chance romance that rightfully belongs to the town of Abingdon!
Six books into the series and I cannot pick a favorite I love them all!
    Another must read Tatum West!
    A KU read for me!

    Inconsistencies and incorrect info galore.

Wow. This author usually has some basic issues that would be easily caught by a decent editor, but this book was riddled with them. There were so many things that made no sense! Like Liam stating he doesn’t have a cell phone so they don’t exchange numbers, and then in the next chapter Grayson is mad because Liam hasn’t texted or called him. Huh? And then you have things that are completely wrong and would have taken a quick Google search. Virginia Tech is the Hokies. Not the Cavaliers (that’s UVA). Super easy to double check.

Now, I love a good second chance romance. Unfortunately, the story was predictable and boring and I never felt any chemistry between the characters. Way too much telling and not showing. There’s a flashback to their childhood, but nothing on page that makes a romantic connection make sense. We’re only ever told about it. So I ended up skipping all the steamy scenes and skimmed through half the book. And the whole book was just Grayson showing off his wealth. Makes zero sense considering Liam supposedly loves him for who he is and not for his money. No wonder everybody thinks Liam is a gold digger.

Overall this series has been ok with at least 2 books I really enjoyed (the first book and Fox’s book). I have one more book to go and I hope it’s at least better than this one.

Have you ever had someone in your life that you feel so connected to, but you let the opportunity for more go – it may not have been the right time, or you just didn’t have the confidence to step forward and take a chance? This is what happened to Grayson Ellis and Liam Gold when they left Jackson Academy; each going their separate ways, neither realizing it would be over 10 years before they would get their chance to be together again. But it’s not an easy HEA. There are those who are as determined to keep Liam out of Grayson’s life as Grayson is to keep him in.

This is a wonderful second chance love story with a roller coaster of emotions. Liam has been broken down by life, seemingly never catching a break. When Grayson comes back into his life as a self-made billionaire, it’s almost too good to be true, and Liam doesn’t trust that it’s meant to be forever. Their story has its ups and downs and some unexpected twists and turns, but it will keep you enthralled from beginning to end. It’s an engaging tale that you will find easy to read but hard to put down and a perfect addition to this most amazing series!!

This story was oh so sweet. The geek falls in love with his jock friend, looses sight of him for years, but does not forget him, ever. He, Grayson, becomes a billionaire and keeps looking for Liam, who’s football career came to an end due to injury. He becomes homeless. Grayson, who never gave up on his love, takes Liam in and starts loving him good and proper. Ooh what a beautiful Cinderella story, with a wicked witch lurking around. But, all’s well that ends well. Their love is strong enough. For a shorter story, it is well written, the MCs convey the emotions they feel; the author keeps her audience engaged with unexpected twists and turns in the story, which is why I love to read (listen to!) certain authors, who have the talent to entertain on a high level. Recommendable as are all the other books in the series. ❤️

Tatum West writes stories with engaging social commentary. This book was another great addition to the collection of thought provoking romances.

I am a little frustrated with the persistent misuse of the word 'never'. Never is an absolute. Authors have a tendency to use 'never' in the place of did not. I normally don't get agitated with a little creative word usage, but this one drives me crazy. Every time I see the phrase "he never looked away" I keep getting the image of two rotting corpses with perfectly preserved eyeballs focused on each other. It kinda ruins the romantic moment for me. Anyway....

The characters were well constructed, and their romance was sweet. I appreciate the way Liam's story was written. His situation is all to familiar and more common than it should be.

    The narration was nicely performed.

Gold Digger is the fifth book in the Bridge to Abingdon series by Tatum West. It is the second chance romance of best friends who reunite after years apart and find the fires of attraction still burn brightly between them... the love is true and worth fighting for for these two. And they do have to fight for it... because society doesn't believe a homeless ex football player can be real with abillionaire businessman, luckily Grayson and Liamknow the truth. I absolutely adored this story... sweet with a bit of steam. Great addition to series.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

  • Tianna McPherson (Anna Lee)

You did it again with another fantastic story. In this we we watch as 2 high school friends part ways for college but never stop talking until one day Liam gets hurt and can't do the thing he loves anymore. The drift apart until a few years later find each other again and not for the better. Grayson is a billionaire who as always loved Liam but neve r told him and Liam is this homeless man living in his truck with his dog. One thing leads to another and in the end they get that HEA ending that they both so deserve. I absolutely love this author and can't wait for more.  I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

    I only read 50% and I can’t finish it.

The premise of the story seem interesting in the beginning but 50% into the book it’s just repeating it self. The character are both trying to convince us they actually love each other but I don’t feel it. Liam says he’s not a gold digger but he seems like it. The guy was practically homeless and all of a sudden there is a billionaire throwing things at him. Whilst Grayson is like every other cliche rich dude; a major douche acting like a nice guy.

    Spoiler Alert

Grayson performing oral on a homeless guy is just ewww. He was willing to wash his clothes on boil setting but not the guy himself?

  • Violetta

I just didn’t get into the story as much as the other two I’ve read in this series, which I thought were fricking awesome. The whole Rich People On Vacay part was just too over the top for me. Especially when they saw the poverty and disenfranchisement in the Caribbean nation but then they did nothing about it except party. I really liked Liam though. In a sense this was a nice Cinderella story but I couldn’t buy the whole self-made billionaire at age 28 premise so I didn’t have much interest in Grayson - although I admit he’s a very sweet character.

  • Marywerewolf

Unfortunately I didn’t love this book as much as I loved the other similar once’s I read recently. I debated about giving it 3 stars but I did enjoy ending of the story.

The book is very predictable and has a simple plot line. You can guess from the start who os the bad guy and what he is going to do (or is it too much movies talking in me 🤔).

Otherwise both main characters in the book are lovable and sincere. I loved how they got through the tough times and concerns to grow even closer as a couple even though at the moments it felt a little rushed.
