Great for 25 wised for 35

A nice inspirational book full of wise advices packet in a nice boxing story ( I’ve like to see a fight like the one imaginated by author) I’ve like to read this one on 24-25 years old when I began my career but you can take lots of advices now on 35+

This is a great personal development book! I’ve read it before, and coming back to it this year solidified my high opinion of it.

Donnely’s books are always inspiring, and this is one of his best. The story is easy to follow (even for people who aren’t familiar with sports). Each chapter focuses on certain obstacles that prevent people from reaching their goals. I was able to relate each of the lessons to my own life and to learn from them.

I highly recommend this book if you’re struggling with being held back by fear!

This was a good, easy read. Well-constructed story. Repetitive, as these books tend to be, but it helps reinforce the key points. Even though it’s about a boxer, Donnelly does a nice job of revealing the underlying fears we all face, both in sports and in life. He clearly identifies what to look for in the negative thought patterns that hold us back. Part of a series, which I didn’t realize, so maybe I’ll pick up a copy of The Turnaround next.

This was a very good read and definitely builds off the optimism theme of the previous book. Fear is the number one impediment to reaching ones fullest potential. You may not experience all of the fears in this book and I think you could definitely identify two or three major ones that affect one the most.

Another great read, it was like reading my personal story!

Mickey’s journey reminded me of so many times I have let fear best me. Darrin’s writing on self-image, self-esteem, and self-talk are candid, sharp, and to the point lessons to shedding self-doubt by living a positive life.

  • Mary Stockton

I think these are extremely accessible books to help folks who, encountering those ups and downs of life, work to move past them to success . I recommend buying the series, to be honest. My past ratings have been a little lower, but reading through them all has been helpful.

  • Cristian Marrero

I definitely enjoyed reading this story. A boxing setting. You will connect with the main character and the decisions he makes. The chapters are short and connect together. We all get stuck in comfort zones and holding patterns. The book makes you take steps in Growth.

  • Brad Partridge

One of the best books I have read in years. I would highly recommend it.

  • Kathy

    Inspirational

I really liked several of the quotes in this book. Definitely need to make sure I incorporate some of that daily.

  • Kelli

This was a great way to write a self-help book, even though boxing isn’t my favorite sport in the world. I really enjoyed the characters and the message.

  • Brian Johnson

A perfect introductory book for people who are into sports but not that into self-development.

“Your fears hold you back from living the life you were born to live. If you’re ever going to achieve success, happiness, and peace of mind, you must first defeat your fears.

Fear is the strong, unpleasant emotion that expects something bad to happen. It is the root cause of every negative thought that eats away at your self-confidence and every worry that keeps you up at night.

Fear is the voice that makes you doubt yourself. It is the voice that tells you to quit, that you shouldn’t bother trying, and that you don’t have what it takes to be successful.

Being in a state of fear makes you tight, timid, and indecisive. It makes you worry incessantly about all the things that could go wrong in the future.

Whenever you find yourself worrying, stressing, procrastinating, or questioning your potential—fear is getting the best of you.

The good news is that fear can be defeated. You can win the inner battle against fear and this book will show you how to do it.”

-Darrin Donnelly from Victory Favors the Fearless

This is the fourth book in Darrin Donnelly’s brilliant
    Sports for the Soul
    series.

We’ve covered the first three fables so far:
    Think Like a Warrior,
    Old School Grit
    and
    Relentless Optimism.
I read all six books in the series in less than a week.

I’m a HUGE fan of these books.

Darrin has a gift for telling a GREAT, inspiring sports story while delivering some super-practical, scientifically-grounded wisdom in the process. If you’re into sports and self-development as much as I am, I think you’ll love these books.

And, I think these books are also the perfect way to introduce this wisdom to our kids and/or spouses/family members/colleagues who may be into sports but not *that* into self-development.

Each of the books in the series features a Hero meeting a Guide. This book features a boxer who’s doubting his decision to try to become a professional fighter.

What’s he need to do if he wants a shot at the heavyweight championship?

He needs to conquer his fear. More specifically, he needs to conquer the SEVEN fears that are holding him (and all of us!) back from actualizing our potential.

This book is packed with Big Ideas on how to do exactly that.

Some of my favorite ideas include:
    1. The 7 Fears - We must conquer.
    2. Faith vs. Fear - Which one are you feeding?
    3. Critics - Will never stop criticizing.
    4. Attack and Adapt - Attack and adapt. Attack and adapt.
    5. Confidence vs. Arrogance - Intense trust is EARNED.

One more thing… I’ve added Victory Favors the Fearless by Darrin Donnelly to my collection of Philosopher’s Notes--distilling the Big Ideas into 6-page PDF and 20-minute MP3s on 600+ of the BEST self-development books ever. You can get access to all of those plus a TON more over at
