Brigands: A Blackguards Anthology (1) Reviews

Thanks to NetGalley and to the editor. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
I can say without any doubt that this is the best collection I have read this year and I am so happy about it!! We have a lot of stories in there, about people who are on the wrong side of the law, so to speak, and I loved them all, or almost all. Usually, anthologies are like a mixed bag of treats, you don't know what you would find in there until you open them, and it is highly possible that you won't like them all in the same way (and usually you would find something to dislike, too). But with this collection, I went lucky! All in all, there was just a story that I didn't like His Kikuta Hands and it is more correct to say that I didn't care for it, because it wasn't bad, jut not the right one for me. And yes, there were a couple of others that didn't tell me much, but all things considered, I had a great time with this book. I loved most of the story, and in every single one of them, I found something intriguing or interesting. The only one that seemed a bit out of place was Scream because it is the only urban fantasy one. It was really interesting and I really enjoyed it, but it seemed a bit out of place.
Irindai reminded me that I really need to start
Twelve Kings in Sharakhai because I have this series on my TBR since forever, and I really want to read it. And this story was just so captivating that I need to read the series ASAP.
The Loyal Dagger was so good that as soon as I finished it I went to check out from which series this was. And you cannot imagine my disappointment discovering that there isn't one. My little heart broke! I wanted so bad to keep reading about this world and these characters! I need more!!!!!
Take You Home was, again, really good. I had a great time with it, and I wasn't expecting anything less from this author. It was captivating, and even if, plotwise, is nothing special, it was all the rest that was special.
These three are just some of the best of this collection, but they aren't the only one I appreciated quite a lot. I discovered some new authors and I had a really great time with this book. -
Another fantastic collection of short stories. Most of these authors were new too me, and it was a fantastic way to dip my toes into their writing, and I enjoyed the array of stories and worlds in these short stories. I don't think there was a single story that felt out of place, or that I enjoyed less than the others and the writing was spectacular throughout. Some of my favourites included 'Take You Home' and 'The Loyal Dagger', but I would recommend the entire collection.
