4.5 Stars
Ruined is the fifth story in "His For A Week" series but can be read as standalone since this is a new couple.
For Virginia, it's not easy to make ends meet. Working in a hotel while studying is tough plus the fact that she's helping her adoptive family. So when she heard from a co-worker that she can earn a whopping 20K just for a week, Virginia is a bit apprehensive but she knew that amount of money will surely help her. She got the surprise of her life when she met her "date for a week" Tony Lee -- her boss. Would she still do it?
I thought the book was well written and had a good, definitely scorching, amount of BDSM romance, but in a few spots was a bit slow; however, it really didn’t deter from my overall enjoyment. Loved it!

Ruined
I usually like Em Brown’s books, but this was a bit too extreme for me. Hard BDMS is really not my forte, but if you are then this book, this series is for you. -

Bdsm
Saw this advertised and I thought I would give it a go. I didn't read the blurb as I wanted to go into it with an open mind.
The story centres around Virginia who is struggling financially and offers herself up for sale so she can put herself and her brother through college. Virginia is an intelligent character and hates being referred to as a redneck.
However Virginia's character is inconsistent because she acts like a silly moron at times. She gets mixed up with her boss who is into harder bdsm from that described in the fifty shades books. These are referenced throughout.
I thought the story was ok but why is it meant to be sexy to beat a woman as described in this book.
Not only does the character who is a virgin get into this immediately but she's ok with being used and abused by her boss. It ends abruptly then goes into a couple of chapters of the next book which is more of the same.
I didn't like this, the characters were dull and nothing that you haven't seen before. Very disappointing and frustrating because the foundations are there for a captivating romance that could have been built upon. -
I felt this book was a little flat. Virginia was just too naive and annoying as heck. I usually enjoy this author's books. But not this time around. I didn't care for the cliffhanger ending either. I voluntarily read this book in exchange for my honest opinion. -
the sex scenes weren't the worst which is kinda lowkey incredible considering how convoluted some of the drama was

Yes, it ends abruptly, but look out for what comes before!
First, I hope, and pray, and will even beg the author if she'll write Book 6 and get Tony Lee and Benjamin Lee together with their respective loves, Kimani and Virginia. Holy Lord, this book was hot, that one would be scorching.
I was, like everyone else, disappointed in the abrupt ending, but I don't judge a book by the ending, I judge it by its content, which is what all good readers should do. And in my case, I LOVED the content here. True BDSM, not the Christian Gray crap that everyone thinks is such a turn on. BDSM is a place where safe words are guarded like gold, and used sparingly, like mercury. Em Brown understands this and write it accordingly. Although I'm absolutely NOT a fan of Billionaire and Virgin tropes, this one was written well and was thoroughly enjoyable, although Virginia at the beginning, was a bit immature. She got over it quickly.
Overall, if you are a fan of either the author or BDSM, this is a book I would recommend. I read the entire series (Books 1 through 5) over the last day. Yes, they are novellas. First four are connected and ends in a Happy For Now, rather than an HEA, which is why I'm hoping Book 6 will pull it all together -
4.25 stars
This is the fifth book in the series and it can be read as a standalone. It is not my favorite and very similar to the other books. It is challenging being a young woman working, studying and trying to make ends meet so when she overhears a conversation about making a lot of money, Virginia is all ears. As the reality of the situation begins to settle in, she becomes somewhat uneasy and is flummoxed when she realizes with whom she is being asked to spend the week….none other than her boss Tony Lee. This is one storyline filled with steamy scenes and intense attraction between the characters.
I volunteered to read an advance copy and all opinions are my own. -
Virginia is trying to pay for college and support her family. When she decides to auction off her virginity she meets Tony Lee, billionaire and ultimate dom. After claiming her he has second thoughts because he will ruin her innocence. Virginia is determined to win Tony over, not just only for a week but for a lifetime.
"Ruined" is book 5 in the "His for a Week" Series and introduces Tony Lee, Benjamin Lee's brother. This book is steamy from front to back. EM Brown really has turned me into an addict to her books. The women in her books are strong and the men are hot as hell. Addicting! -
1st probably last
This was not what I expected. Not bad but not good. This was my 1st book by this author and probably my last. I’m fully into alpha males and he wasn’t controlling or commanding enough for me. There wasn’t enough of anything before the story ended I’m left with so many unanswered questions. I hated to many things about this story: No time to build trust between the H/h, “safety word” instead of ‘Safe Word’ annoyed me, and all the ‘All mighty Gods’ made me hate it a little bit more. I just didtlike it. -
Tony and Virginia
This was a good read. But it was missing intensity from the male characters perspective. The story was told from her POV only. I have read books where I’m really feeling the emotions of characters and I didn’t feel anything from Tony. It was hard to believe that he even wanted her in the end. This was a really good hook up. They had a great once or ten off and that was it to me. -
So.....that's the end? It ended so abruptly and I don't mean that in a "omg i loved it so much I don't want it to end" kind of way. I mean I literally thought there was another book to this one.
Either way, besides that, I didn't love this. I don't take away stars for my personal preference. I did not connect with the characters and I didn't feel like Virginia was as invested as Tony was. She was so wishy-washy and I found it very annoying.
Not for me. -
I admit, hardcore BDSM isn’t my thing, but this was bad. It was troubling to see a naive girl think she was falling in love with a man who was abusing her. Sexual battery is not sexy. The sex acts involved dental floss and an electric toothbrush (I don’t know if I’ll ever recover from that scene) and a black hood and being put in stocks. He never apologized or showed any compassion. It was really icky. I wanted to scream “Run, girl!!!! Run!!!!”

Good story
I enjoyed the story of Tony and Virginia. It was sexy and sweet. You can tell Tony was developing feelings for Virginia but wouldn’t act on them at all. He didn’t think he was a good man but he was. The thing is it just stop. I wanted more but it stop and went to another story. -
Hoping for more...
I really enjoyed this story. I love Tony. Virginia was pushy, but I liked that she went after what she wanted and didn't give up. Some of the story was redundant in areas. I've read Bought, and this book wasn't written as well. It seemed rushed and it just ended. Very abruptly. I am hoping that means there will be more. If so, I truly look forward to it.
