The third installment in Adam Mansbach’s international best-selling Go the Fuck to Sleep series addresses, with radical honesty, the family implosion that occurs when a second child arrives.

Adam Mansbach famously gave voice to two of parenting’s primal struggles in Go the Fuck to Sleep and You Have to Fucking Eat—the often-imitated, never-duplicated pair of New York Times best sellers that ushered in a new era of radical honesty in humor books for parents. But what could possibly be left?

Parents—new, old, expectant, and grand—of multiple children already knew the answer. Adam discovered it for himself by having two more kids, less than two years apart.

Fuck, Now There Are Two of You is a loving monologue about the new addition to the family, addressed to a big sibling and shot through with Adam’s trademark profane truth-telling. Gorgeously illustrated and chock-full of unspoken sentiments channeled directly from the brains of parents worldwide, Fuck, Now There Are Two of You articulates all the fears and frustrations attendant to the simple, math-defying fact that two is a million more kids than one.

As you probably know by now, you shouldn’t read it to a child.

Do you have a friend who's getting ready to have their second child? Let them know that they've made the second biggest make of their life by giving them this book. ****, NOW THERE ARE TWO OF YOU is a heartfelt portrayal of the horrors of starting a family. Remember the noise? The mess? Remember not having a single moment to yourself? Oh, and remember how you can't even close your eyes to sneeze because the moment you do, every single expensive and/or irreplaceable item you own will be sicked on, smashed, or covered in crayon? This book is here to remind you of all that-- and more! Because now there will be double the "fun."

It's important to note that this is NOT a children's book. The language in this book isn't really child-appropriate (lots of F-bombs) and they won't understand a lot of the jokes in here (like why the parents seem so horrified at the thought of sending their two children off to college). This is a children's book parody, and a sequel to the popular first book, GO THE **** TO SLEEP. I think these books are meant to be soothing balms of humor for young millennial parents who can laugh at themselves. You could probably share it with an older child, but it's REALLY for an adult audience.

The images are beautiful and it's surprisingly funnier than I thought it would be. I'm single, without kids, but I think it would be a great gift for some of my friends, as they are constantly complaining about parenthood (even though they love it), and I'm sure the issues presented in here would really resonate and make them go "HECKS YEAH! THAT IS SO ME!" If that is you, as well, read this book (and try not to think too hard about college tuition or Legos).

Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!

This one was fine. The other two had neat rhymes that worked and this one has... less of that so it felt less wholesome? I liked the illustrations nonetheless, but the writing wasn't on par with the first two.

F**k, Now There Are Two Of You is the third book in the Go The F**k To Sleep series by American author and parent, Adam Mansbach. This book is again set out in the style of a children’s picture book, with marvellous illustrations by Owen Brozman.

So, the parents of the new baby think they're finally handling it OK. They get a bit too cocky, or maybe just oops, and there's another baby on the way. How hard can it be? Harder than they ever dreamed, that's what. Adam Mansbach demonstrates just a few of the ways that #2 will impact the lives of parents (and that’s before they even think about college for two dependants). Parents will nod and groan at the thought of the inconvenience of the extra baby paraphernalia, the lost sleep, the loss of down-time and zero leisure, the challenge of the smallest excursion, the jealous sibling behaviour and the added cost.

Mansbach does it all, once again, with a generous helping of expletives, the ones parents try NOT to use around kids. The rhyming is slightly awkward, but the sentiments will surely resonate with parents of one plus..... Definitely a book for adults: keep out of reach of children.

For those of you that are thinking about having a second child or have just had one this book is for you. It would also make a unique present if you know someone who has had their second child. It is laugh-out-loud funny and contains copious amounts of swearing.

I remember when I was pregnant with my second child another mum saying to me, having a second one is hard, but anymore after that is easy. I thought she was joking but she wasn’t. Going from one child to two feels strange, and I feel this book perfectly sums it up.

The illustrations by Owen Brozman are perfect and full-page. My favourite image is of their eldest child wanting to be like a baby again, stood in the new baby’s cot with a dummy in his mouth, it certainly brought back memories.

I can see parents nodding in agreement at the lack of sleep or items everywhere or even the behaviour of their older child who goes from wanting to help and be loving to wanting to be the little one again.

This is not a book for children, this is a picture book for adults. Just like the original book by Adam Mansbach, ‘Go the F*ck to Sleep’, this book makes light of what being a parent is really like.

    Είμαι πολύ κακός άνθρωπος που θέλω να το διαβάσω στα παιδιά μου ή να το κάνω δώρο σε φίλους μου που έχουν παιδιά;

I didn’t think this book was as good as the first book. I really struggled with the rhyming aspect in this book as I had to really slow down and say each word before I was able to get the rhyming to work for me. What I did like in this book was the illustrations and the message that the text was getting across (aside from the curse words).

Just when you thought you had things under control and you could go out in public w/o taking half your house with you or knowing that you could actually go eat at restaurant for about an hour, w/ an individual who brings you food, you decide that your life is too quiet and you have another baby. I’m sure that was your first thought, right? You think about the individuals who have their children close together and wonder, how can they handle all those kids in diapers and then you, wait until things have calmed down at home and the add another baby to your house and now, things are crazy again and calm is a word in the dictionary.

In this book, the parents have just found out that they’re pregnant again. Their son will not be getting all their attention anymore and they knew there might be some behavior issues yet as you read, their son becomes quite a handful. The whole family must now make adjustments for the baby as he arrives and makes his presence known. Meanwhile, their son is also making his presence known. There are some sweet moments and the parents love their children but with two children on two different schedules, the parents are running out of energy.

The illustrations show the love and chaos that families face. Many of the illustrations made me laugh as I remember trying to juggle my own kids. I think the text and illustrations worked for me and if I didn’t try to rhythm, I liked the book.

The book brought back a lot of memories. Trying to juggle my own kids and not lose it. I think it helped when I tried to walk in my kid’s shoes. So, would it be okay to play in the mud? Be messy with my food? Draw on the walls? How about give them a place where they can draw (a big section of space)? Sometimes, there is a time and a place for these activities (boundaries).

Hilariously inappropriate picture book (that is clearly not for children) that is perfect for parents having a second child.

FUCK, NOW THERE ARE TWO OF YOU by Adam Mansbach and illustrated by Owen Brozman.
I received this ARC (Advance Reading Copy) from Akashic Books. Thank you. It really made my day!
I don’t know what to say that hasn’t been said before about this book and Mr. Mansbach’s two previous titles, GO TO FUCK TO SLEEP and YOU HAVE TO FUCKING EAT.
As a librarian (by trade) and voracious reader (by habit), I have been introduced to a new genre - adult picture books. I quite enjoy them. These particular books are laugh-aloud hilarious and seem to release some sort of primeval feelings that desperately need an outlet.
The Press Kit that came with FUCK, NOW THERE ARE TWO OF YOU included a very funny author’s statement from the author, Adam Mansbach, and very funny, excellent reviews. I especially liked the review from Kirkus Reviews - “If you’re a fan of both Larry David and profane children’s book parodies, don’t even try to curb your fucking enthusiasm.” And CBS News, “Larry David will narrate the audiobook version of a popular children’s tale, in what may be the most sarcastic, dark-humored bedtime story known to man.”

My only advice to parents and would-be parents would be to read Mr. Mansbach’s books; chuckle and laugh out loud; push the toys off the couch and open up that cheap bottle of wine you’ve kept hidden in the cupboard. That is, if you can open the child-locked doors.

I received a free finished copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinions.

After reading this hilarious book, I'm definitely of the opinion that we need more adult picture books in the world!

F*ck, Now There are Two of You is the third book in series started by Go the F*ck to Sleep. If you can't guess from the title, it's a book of hard truths and humor about having a second child.

My boyfriend and I both laughed from the first page to the last. This book would make a perfect gift for any of your friends who are about to have their second baby.

Advanced copy from Library Thing and Akashic Books

Loved it! But then again I live for irreverence. Short and sweet and gets the point across.
Thinking I should buy copies for all my friends even remotely thinking of another child.

  • Bethany Blake

I got an ARC of this and COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE EXCITED!! I absolutely loved the first two, and this did NOT disappoint. Being a mother of two - let me tell you, this shit HITS HOME. awesome girl for someone having their second child!!

  • Erin

Hilarious addition to the F**k series. The audiobook even has a lovely lullaby score playing in the background. I look forward to checking out the physical book at some point. Fantastic!

Thanks to libro.fm for a free Advanced Listening Copy in return for an honest review.

  • Laurie

My cousin got this for Christmas from her husband and let me read it! She is a mother of two and is exhausted by it so these books definitely help her cope with the crazies. Now as funny as Go the F*ck to Sleep but still hilarious even for me who is not a mother

  • Stacey

Another hysterical book about having kids.

  • Reetta Saine

Hiukan on loppuunlypsetty juttu, mutta kyllä oiva käännösriimittely sai silti hymyn nousemaan kasvoille. Vai oliko se sittenkin se, että noista ajoista on jo tarpeeksi aikaa :p.

  • Kevin Duvall

I’ve don’t think I’ve ever related to a book on a personal level more than this.

  • Maija

Runot oli huonosti suomennettuja tai sitten eivät rimmanneet kunnolla alunperinkään. En tykännyt kuvitusten tyylistä. Sanoma ei ollut mitenkään oivaltava vaan pelkkää valitusta.

  • Alicia Evans

This is the latest contribution to Mansbach's parody picture book series, and it harkens back to the original's glory. Illustrations feature diverse representation and family units. Readers will enjoy variety of situations that this book covers, from the pregnancy to thinking about sending the children to college. Some readers may not appreciate the language in the book, and readers should be aware that this book is targeted for adults and not children.

For: parents, caregivers, and those who have children in their lives; readers looking for a humorous parody book.

    Possible red flags: repetitive expletives.

  • CR

When I saw this come I snagged that shit out of the mail because IT WAS MINE!!!!! This was **** good as the first one!! I couldn't put it down and read it of course in one sitting. I laughed thought the entire story but you also find yourself wanting to cry because you know that its the honest truth of how your life changes once an extra child pops into your life. If you want a good laugh/cry as a parent this is a must read for you!!

  • Ashley Catron

I received the first book, "Go the f**k to sleep," when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. Eight years later I now have two babies and this book sums up the earlier years so perfectly! I could not help but laugh on every page because I felt like the book had been written for me. For every parent that has two, this is a fun little break from the day-to-day that will remind you to laugh when you need it the most.

  • Raven Black

Realistic feelings about the second child in the "Go the F* to Sleep" series. However, even though this is funny, the author and illustrator might have gone to the well too many times. There is something "missing" or at least, the "punch" of the first is lost. Mostly since F* has been used so many different times of late, it has lost its shock value.

  • Michelle Jarrett

Thanks to Libro.fm for the audio copy! I love their program for librarians and educators. Larry David narrates the latest installment of Adam Mansbach's cheeky series. It had me giggling....now I just need to find someone about to have a second child.

  • Ashley Flowers

I thought his 1st book was hilarious! I bought this book for a friend who is having a second child because I thought it would be funny but this one doesn't feel funny enough to not be offensive. Just a bit harsh and real

  • Taija

  • Sine Nomine

This book made me wish I had friends expecting their second baby to gift it to them.
