Jyu-Oh-Sei ~ book Three Reviews

This books continues the line of misogyny it's set out, this time killing all the women with it. The author states in the back that she set out to kill all the major characters... because... of some crappy literary reason. Really if you can find a way to let your characters live, then you are a bad writer.
Yes some characters have to die, but only if there is no other way. This is what makes their death such an impact is that you KNOW they had to die. She just sets out to slaughter her characters and in the most shit filled fashion too.

Also the climax of the book isn't anything special either. It's the typical "We can't go back to Earth" set up. Ultimately in the end women are still regulated to baby factories and men are still the "ones on Top".

  • Dani ❤️ Perspective of a Writer

In spite everyone dying I really loved this series. It felt right. Every one had their motives and even when they all aligned they all conflicted in some way. It was cool and creepy how Thor reverted to his true appearance and how close to the fake Third he really was meant to be.

Poor Tiz. I love her. How confused she was when Thor said he loved her but wouldn't have a child with her. To her a child would be loving her. Karin is also torn, between Thor so idealized and Zagi so cynical. Karim's death is quite tragic in that it had to happen in Third's view! Thor so idealized couldn't imagine his friend's cynicism allowing for love to exist as well. I found this so sad.

I loved the whole idea that terra forming wouldn't be able to sustain the life force because it is moving away from that which is natural. I loved that in the womb (much like Third) he changed his natural coloring to be like Rai to survive. Third/Heather's back history is incredible, totally crazy and I love how he explains that with Third imprinted on him Third was making the decisions and not Heather.

All the villains' back histories were so crazy intertwined and I just loved how complex the alliances got. Sad how Heather had to take responsibility for living as Third. And the twist about earth! Crazy good, totally makes sense but also a little surprising! I was totally sad about Tiz never getting her child...

BOTTOM LINE: Crazy good series! A must, must read even if not a fan of sci-fi.
