Frida Kahlo's work comes to life—literally—in this magical realist novel, the latest addition to Watson-Guptill's acclaimed Art Encounters series. The story alternates between Kahlo's home in Mexico City, Casa Azul, and the journey of a teenage girl and her young brother, lost in the city. At the mystical Casa Azul, everything with a face talks—including Kahlo's pet monkey, her cat, portraits on the wall. Over the course of the book, the cover painting, Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird , transforms from a nightmarish vision of death into a life-affirming masterpiece. This dramatic story offers a vivid reimagining of the life and work of a woman as well known for her amazing life as for her amazing art.

Casa Azul: An Encounter with Frida Kahlo Reviews

Prije nego sam pocela da citam, bacih pogled na hronologiju i vidjeh kako bi bas na danasnji dan Fridi bio rodjendan (6.7.1907.).
I vise me drzao taj momenat, no sama radnja.

Frida Kahlo's life was sort of a disaster because her divorce with Diego Rivera hurt her very deep in her soul. She was hurt in an accident that almost caused her life, from that point on she could never have children. For the other part of this story it mentions a girl named Maria who leaves her small hometown to go in search of her mother in the AMAZING, HUGE, EXTRORDINARY Mexico City. Maria and Victor, her little brother set off to a huge adveture that will change there lives. This adventure will get them in trouble for stealing, for "almost" breaking in at a bank.

Interesting only because of Kahlo's presence. Could've been a lot better.
