This new translation keeps all the poetic power of the original's extraordinary alliteration. In doing so it brings the saga vividly to life in a manner that demands to be heard. One of the greatest stories of English literature from any period, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a magical medieval combination of the epic and the uncanny.
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Reviews

Stunning.

I believe I've read a version of this tale before, but it was pleasant to hear the audiobook and the music they paired with the story.

I read a version of this in college, as part of an Arthurian legend course. I thought I remembered the essence of the story; so when I watched the 2021 film adaptation (The Green Knight), my baffled, irritated reaction was, "That isn't how the story goes!" Among other things: An imaginary sequence temporarily presented as the real outcome? Seriously? And, grrr, that ending! I'm fine with films of stories taking different directions, taking liberties; but IMO that film both misses the point (or the moral, if you will) of the original story and treats the viewer as if they're incapable of imagining the potential consequences of Gawain not keeping to the rules of the agreement. I wanted my memories confirmed, so I sought this version out. Flynn's verse adaptation is pleasant to listen to.
