and what is fake.
But when things take a dangerous turn,
There is only one person I want to turn to for protection.

Whatever you do, don’t fall in love.

Odette is fast becoming a one-click buy. Loved, loved this story.

  • Dela

Their communication skills were seriously lacking but they were cute! I liked this duo much better than Jackson and Emily.

Where can I get myself a man like Porter?!

This book was not what I was expecting! I thought it'd be the typical "fake fiance" cheesy romantic story. We do get some of that here but this book includes some twists that I was not expecting.

Beth is trying to get rid of her cheating ex. Porter is trying to get his ex girlfriend back.
When Beth ends up getting into some trouble, Porter, Beth's friend husband's friend, bails her out. In order to get rid of her cheating ex boyfriend, Beth ends up lying that Porter is her boyfriend. The more they get get tied to this lie, the more their attraction to each other grows and the more this lie starts to become real. When Beth is in danger, Porter does anything he can to keep her safe.

I have to say, I loved both of these characters.
Beth was hilarious, she was strong but at the same time insecure.
Porter, he was very protective of Beth, specially when she was in danger, and he was always straightforward with her regarding his ex girlfriend (whom I really hated in this story). I could tell when he started to fall in love with Beth and don't get me started on their love scenes. They were HOOOOT!

Overall, I recommend this book. READ IT!!!
I'm looking forward to reading Jackson and Emily's story (the first two books in this series).

    Surprised

I devoured this book!!!!! I read Emily and Jackson’s book. This is definitely different. They were very angsty, whereas Beth and Porter were playful, sexual, and romantic. I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure which I liked better, but I loved both. The writing was better here, but I got a little bored.

    Sex? Yes. Lots.
    Angst? Low to Medium
    Genre? Military Romance
    Sexual tension? Sometimes—medium
    Funny? Sometimes
    Alpha male? Yes
Heroine? Likable but could be more confident
    KU? Yes

This book is a series of misfires. The H shows his protectiveness, but never his love. The h had been brainwashed and gaslit by everyone around her and never really asserted control. If you think working really hard for emotional crumbs is a good romance, have at it.

Sigh... I want one like Porter, Navy Seal!

Definitely hot. With secrets. And a Seal to boot. Whew! Complicated plot involving a fake engagement, a mysterious threat, challenging parents -- Beth is over her head with Porter. Over her head in love. Oh dear, this can't end happily, can it-? I couldn't put this book down until I found out how this affair resolved. Very satisfying story - I'll be looking for Ms Stone's next book!! Highly recommended.

This was a good read. Beth is in trouble one night and she is helped by Porter. What began as just being a fake boyfriend ends up being a lot more. On top of everything else her father is running for mayor. Things get even more complicated. Thankfully in the end it all works out and they finally get their happy ending.

this might be her best book yet!

It took me a long time to get to this book. I had such a book-hangover after finishing the first two of this series, but I’m so glad I waited until I was in the right mindset, because this book was incredible. The banter! The drama! The friendships! The mother! The steam! Oh boy. I was half-in-love with this couple by chapter 3 and it just kept getting better.

    My Fake Fiancé

I really liked Beth, even in the previous books, which is why I was excited to read hers and it was really good.

  • Lis

Porter was hot, i BRUSHED so hard on some scenes, omg.
The book was a good read. I didn't read the first story because i kind of don't like sequences, but this one was gold.

  • Christina

I enjoy reading, but there are times where it almost seems mechanical because the idea of the story I am reading has been done...many times over. It doesn't make the book un-enjoyable, but it leaves it lacking something. My Fake Fiance was such a refreshing surprise! It had me physically reacting with laughs, cringes, head shakes, and the occasional sit shifting throughout. I did not want to put this book down.

Beth wants to make it on her own, without her parents' money. Her controlling mother wants her married to the cheating ex-boyfriend and her controlling father is absorbed in his work, but it doesn't stop them from trying to get Beth back home. She has one good friend, Emily, that she confides in along the way.

Porter can't afford distractions in his line of work; it could leave him and his team dead. He takes a leave of absence to get himself together and support his buddy Jackson.

Beth and Porter have mutual friends, that's how they meet.

The story is mainly told in Beth's POV, but the beginning and end of the book include Porter's POV. This brought a better sense of what was going on with Porter because he was somewhat stoic through the story. I actually liked how his character was written. The writing was smooth and I felt as though I could see the plot unfolding rather than just seeing words on a page. The pacing was spot on. I did not feel as though it droned or lagged at any point. The story was well put together with surprises that I didn't see coming (always a bonus). The progression of the story made sense, though it kept escalating for the main characters because one lie mandated another.

There is adult language ( not overdone) and adult scenes (nicely done...dream worthy...and funny). There is lots of drinking (alcohol) and there is violence (not the domestic type though).

This story deserves 5+ stars, but there were grammar/spelling issues. There aren't many glaring mistakes, but this work deserves to be error free! 4.5 stars I would recommend this read AND I will be reading it over and over.

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. I loved Porter and Beth. LOVED them. This story was the perfect blend of suspense, chemistry, hot steam, and romance. It had so much more plot than a typical fake fiance romance. The characters were perfect together. I loved seeing Previous characters in this story too.

I love this author something fierce now.

I’ve read two books by Odette Stone that had quite a few frustrating similarities:

    1) so much unnecessary angst.

    2) the plot is pretty much: the heroine gets shit on the entire book to a melodramatic degree.

    3) While getting shit on, the inner monologue of the heroine is that she knows she doesn’t deserve this treatment and spends the entire book biting her tongue and not sticking up for herself. To the point of being the worst kind of pushover and doormat.

    4) the villains are extremely evil. No one just generally causes a fuss but instead they’re out to ruin the heroine’s life and also kill her. And also give me an ulcer from the stress.

    5) A weird plot twist with a dramatic, but yet again, unnecessary separation and angst.

All of which is extra frustrating because the MCs have extraordinary chemistry and I absolutely adore them together. If not for all those issues being a 10 on the dramatic scale (instead of a nice livable 5 or 6), I’d rate this 5 stars. But alas I spent so much time frustrated it took away from my general enjoyment.

I think I’d love more of Stone’s books but I definitely need a break from that angst lol.

This book can be standalone. Story flowed quickly and I couldn't wait to get to the end. It was great book about two opposite finding their happy ending.

Navy SEAL Porter is in New York to be his best friend's son's godfather and get his girl friend back. On his way to he sees gorgeous blonde who is close to his best friend's wife.
Beth wanted to get away from her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her with her boss, parents who wants to control over her life. She finally found her happy medium until she ended up in jail. She desperately needed someone other than her parents. So she calls her best friend Emily and who shows up to rescue her... The brooding but sexy Porter comes to rescue her. She met him at Emily son's christening and his first impressions wasn't as friendly but she couldn't be more thankful for him for showing up. On her way out of the police station, her ex-boyfriend shows up and she decided to call Porter as her fake boyfriend...
It suppose to deter his ex-boyfriend from bothering her but from then on, once Beth's parents finds about Porter being her new boyfriend, they were thrown into relationship. Her parents were very difficult to deal with especially her mother and Beth was afraid Porter wouldn't go along with her scheme. He seems so closed off, she wasn't sure he would play along. Once he was willing to meet her parents, everything seems to work itself out. Until her father decided to run for mayor of NY.
Porter has problems of his own and he never thought he would be thrown into a fake relationship. But he still has to deal with his ex-girlfriend.
As Beth's father announces he would be running for Mayor, Beth keeps getting threats and it keeps escalating but her parents doesn't take the risks seriously. Plus now they just announced they were engaged. Is this relationship still fake because Beth feels she is falling but she is not sure if Porter feels the same way....

I did not read the first two but I really enjoyed this book. Beth and Porter's relationship and their road to happy ending was different and fun. I love the suspense part until the very end. Now I am curious to read about Emily and Jackson's story.. Emily was so close to Beth and their relationship was so strong, I would love to find out their love story.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Fake fiancée with a side of political intrigue

I’m generally a fan of the fake fiancée thing, but I especially like it when it’s done spur of the moment with no discussion between the characters, it always makes for a more intense story. This is what happened here.
Honestly, it’s hard not to like Beth, she comes from a family with a lot of money, an overbearing mother, a father with his eyes on more power by becoming mayor of NYC, and an ex she just can’t seem to shake; and even with all of that, she’s determined to forge her own path. I love that instead of having a pretty easy money filled life where all she has to do is go along with her family, she lives in a small apartment working at a temp job and is determined to life her life the way she wants to. Yates, her ex, is sooooo cringeworthy. I mean the guy cheats on her with her boss, and yet he’s always around. Now he’s her dads campaign manager, and worse yet her family is pushing her to get back together with him even though everyone knows what he did. Totally makes sense that in the heat of the moment she announces that she has a boyfriend, a fiancée even, just to get this jerk to back off.
Porter, the man of so little words is, well, hard to read. Beth is totally right, he says so few words, especially when in a small space with her. But while he might not be good with the whole words things, he’s definitely good at the action part. He shows up for her no questions asked even when they don’t really know each other well. The more you get to know him, the more there is to like, especially when he starts talking (he gets super hot).
Of course during this whole thing it seems like someone is out to get Beth as a warning to her dad. I have to say the reactions of the people around her about what was happening seriously left something to be desired, I seriously felt bad for it. It’s easy to see how Porter being there for her would mean so much to her. I didn’t think the suspension plot was too overdone, and it worked to help move things forward.
This is the second book I’ve read by Odette, and honestly I really like the writing style. I have a feeling I am going to go on a minor book binge this weekend. I would definitely recommend this book.

  • Ga Books LoverX

I will preface this by saying that I did not read the two books prior to this one in the series and I did not miss a thing. The author gave just enough backstory to not be sitting there scratching my head asking “huh?”

Now with that out of the way, I LOVED THIS BOOK! I do not know what I was expecting, but it was not this amazing and sexy awesomeness that is this book. Odette Stone- you have a new fan and I will be reading ALL of your books. MAJORLY loved your writing style.

Porter is officially my new book boyfriend, I think I am half in love with him. His broodiness, sexiness, loyalty, just OMG *drool*! He works in Jackson’s, Beth’s best friend Emily’s husband, military unit. He has some major issues that he is working through, but he hides it fairly well from others.

Beth is a breath of fresh air. She is a feisty, girl-next door type even though she is a rich heiress. She has tried so hard to get out from her parent’s thumb and live her own life. There is not a huge gap in her relationship with her parents, they are just not as warm and loving as others and their social norms are not exactly normal.

Both Beth and Porter are both going through a tough time when they meet and end up leaning on each other and start “fake dating” to help with their current situations…. let’s just say that spirals COMPLETELY out of control in some crazy ways.

This book is SO FREAKING SEXY without being over the top.

My gosh, I am fanning myself just thinking about the stuff that I read.

I loved everything about this book: all of the twists and turns, all of the characters, and the main story line.

5 OUT OF 5 STARS FROM ME FOR SURE!

  • ☆ syu, the romance aficionado ☆

I have to be honest, this book had the makings of literally everything I usually avoid, in romance books I mean. For starters, both characters get into sexual situations way too fast, and second, the heroine’s a tall, leggy blonde—not the kind of heroine I like to read about (simple because I couldn’t physically relate to them).

But Odette Stone has a way with words. I think this is probably the third, fourth book for hers that I read that I initially was skeptical about? While I disliked it when main characters get into sexual situation in less than half of the book, Odette wrote in a way to establish sexual tension and it worked. The relationship build-up between characters grew gradually—it wasn’t exactly love at first sight thing, so it helped.

Also, sure, Beth was a tall, leggy blonde—she’s the type of heroine I personally avoid, but Odette didn’t make everything about her appearance. I usually hate books that make a big deal about the heroine’s appearance, whether it’s positive or negative. Sometimes author would go on and on about how big their assets are or just how hot they are that it gets really old.

There’s a lot going on in this book and I think some people might be overwhelmed by it all. There’s the fake engagement that quickly elevated to a 12 week wedding plans. There’s Porter’s ex-girlfriend drama, there’s Porter secrets and not to mention someone was out there trying to get Beth almost killed—multiple times. Beth had some TSTL heroine moments too.

But overall, this book was an enjoyable read. I finished it one sitting.

Beth recently broke things off with her boyfriend of three years because she caught him cheating on her in their bed with her b#$ch of a boss. She meets Porter and instantly can't stand him. She thinks he is awful and a Duck Dynasty reject. Porter can tell that Beth seems a little stuck up but he definitely finds her attractive. Porter is trying to come to terms with the fact that his long term girlfriend, Felicia just up and left with everything from their apartment except his clothes while he was on deployment with his SEAL team. He's tracked her down and since Beth wants a favor from Porter (one in which he pretends to be her boyfriend), she agrees to go with Porter to pick his stuff up from Felicia. Things get complicated and they end up pretending to be engaged. With everything from Beth's dad running for Mayor of New York, Porter's thieving ex who wants him back and Beth's cheating ex who wants her back this book is full of action and brings out lots of emotions. You definitely don 't want to miss this awesome book!!!

When Porter first saw Beth, he didn’t understand how she could throw him off balance. When Beth met Porter, she was instantly attracted to him, but she couldn’t stand how broody and silent he was. Three months after their introduction, they come face to face again in unpleasant circumstances… and when her ex shows up, she claims that Porter is her boyfriend.

For some reason Porter goes along with the lie all while trying to protect Beth from the threats she’s been getting, dealing with his ex, and participating in Beth’s fathers campaign..

The more they are around each other, the more they realize they like being around each other… and when tensions continue to rise, they give in to their desires, while trying to remember that they have an end date..

I was not expecting the plot twist on the day of their wedding. I hurt for Beth. And for Porter. Both being used by someone that’s supposed to care for her above all else..

Porters dirty talk was 🔥🔥🔥 I was a bit upset that we didn’t get to see Beths public S 3 x fantasy played out, it was only mentioned that they took part in it many times.

It was a sweet ending and I will go back to read the other two books in the series.
