Great Baseball Feats, Facts, and Firsts Reviews

I read the 2008 edition. Very interesting and informative.

I read the 1990 edition just because...my parents gave me all my stuff back from when I was growing up, and here was this book! I was disappointed that it did not include any Negro Leagues records, or acknowledge that it existed. I know that the Negro Leagues did not have good record keeping, but that could have also been discussed. There were only 2 or 3 pages devoted to African American records.

Also, it is interesting that the steroid age had started by this point, however, it was yet to be known to anyone. And this was before the baseball strike of 1994, and the breaking of home run records by Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. I'm curious how the later editions addressed these issues. Baseball records do not have the same aura about them, after the steroid era.

Overall, this was an interesting and enjoyable read.

Some quick snippets to fill you Saturday afternoons in the winter waiting for baseball to come back.

Organized way to view baseball's records, rather than simply looking at the numbers out of context.
