5☆ A Light hearted and Enchanting Romance!
Once again T.A. Williams swept me off to a place I long to visit, this time round it's Rome.
I am a big fan of Williams books so as soon as i see a new book, I just know I'm in for an adventure filled with romance, an Adorable Lab (Daisy) and a stunning setting.
Jo is visiting Rome as her sister is getting married. She meets the very charming and handsome Corrado who is soon to be her Sisters Brother-in-law.
There is an instant attraction, but Jo is sworn herself off men as she nurses her broken heart, especially ones as handsome as Corrado.
Jo returns home but still dreaming of Rome and the brief time she spent with Corrado.
But things are starting to look up for her, when her boss has a nasty fall and sends Jo back to Rome to take part in an Important meeting, on his behalf.
Jo jumps at the chance and she secretly hopes to see Corrado again.
She doesn't have to wait too long when he meets her at the airport.
Can Rome and Corrado restore Jo's Faith in Men and Love? Or
Is she destined to be alone?
I can't not write this review without mentioning Daisy the adorable and very loveable Labrador fur Baby. Now any one who reads Trevor's books, will know there is always a cheeky and loveable Labrador and Daisy was one of my favourite pups.
Jo's passion is conservation and butterflies, which was so refreshing. It made a nice change to read about current environmental issues especially as plastic is killing our environment. I adore butterflies too so learning a bit more about them was an added bonus.
Dreaming of Rome is an Enchanting story of Second Chances, Romance, Family, Friendship and a sprinkle of drama.
Which as the title suggests... left me Dreaming of Rome!
Once again Williams has written a Gem of a book, steeped in history, delicious food, and a stunning location I didn't want to leave!
The Characters are intelligent, strong and as always are perfectly written, likeable and very relatable.
So if you are looking for a Light Hearted, Warm and Cosy, Women's Fiction that has a sprinkle of Romance, an important environmental message, a stunning location and an Adorable fur Baby then you will absolutely love Dreaming of Rome!
The perfect holiday and beach read!

Dr. Joanna Brown works for a conservation charity, she wants to rid the planet of plastic and especially from the oceans. Jo dated a handsome model for four years, after having her heart broken she’s decided to stay away from good looking men and she's better off being single. Her sister Angie is engaged to Mario, his family own a hotel and restaurant in Rome.
While on a business trip to Rome, Jo catches up with her sister and future brother-in-law and she meets his brother Corrado. He’s a chemist, the known womanizer tells Jo he doesn't believe in love and it’s just a biochemical reaction. Jo loves Rome, the old buildings, walking the ancient streets, eating the delicious food and drinking wine. Corrado is happy to show her the sights, he takes his dog Daisy with them, they lookout for butterflies and try to stop the Labrador from jumping into any water she can find.
Jo knows she's falling in love with the charming Corrado, due to her sister marrying his brother and she doesn’t want to take their relationship to the next level. Jo’s worried it will cause tension between the two families, she doesn’t want to ruin her sister’s wedding and have her heart broken again.
I received a copy of Dreaming of Rome by T. A. Williams from NetGalley and Canelo in exchange for an honest review. The story is set in a beautiful place, you wish you’re the person walking the streets of Rome with Corrado, sailing the Mediterranean and stopping at a small island for a swim and lunch. Jo and Corrado are two highly intelligent people, they have so much in common and all they need is for Corrado to believe in love and stop being so cynical. Four stars from me, a romance set in a picturesque place and I’m looking forward to reading, Dreaming of Verona. -
I always love T A Williams books because they transport you easily into beautifully described settings that make me want to add so many new places to my bucket list. Rome is already high on my list- but now I really want to visit soon. I enjoy getting to know the new canine characters in every book- getting to know Daisy was bittersweet because I lost my darling dog this week.
Jo and Corrado meet when a family wedding is being organised. Corrado seems to be the perfect eligible bachelor. He’s handsome, charming and very rich and he has the most adorable dog called Daisy. He doesn’t believe in love though.
I loved the romance throughout, totally losing myself in the magic. I was so sad to leave them behind.
I can’t wait to read his next book. -
I enjoy T.A. Williams "Dreaming Of" books and looked forward to this one. Jo Green is a scientist who is visiting Rome to see her sister before she gets married. While there, she meets her soon to be brother-in-law, Corrado. He is charming, handsome and has a reputation of a womanizer. Neither of them have any interest in a serious relationship, especially as they will soon be related by marriage. Unfortunately, they are both fighting an instant attraction. When Jo returns home. she is still dreaming of Rome and the handsome Corrado. Shortly after her return home, she has to go back to participate in a conference that her injured boss is not able to be part of. It works out fine for Jo as she is the one who prepared the presentation in the first place. When she arrives, Corrado is there to pick her up at the airport. Will Jo give in to her feelings and give another man a chance to win her heart? Can Rome restore her faith in men?
I really liked Jo. She was an environmentalist and was passionate about butterflies. She wants to change the world's attitudes specifically about single use plastic that is destroying the world. It also happens that Corrado is working on projects to reduce plastic as well. Both of the main characters are intelligent, caring, likeable and very relatable. I loved Corrado's Labrador (there is one in every T.A. Williams' book) Daisy is a wonderful addition to this story. She steals the scenes she is present in and is also somewhat instrumental in bringing the couple together. When Jo gets an offer she can't refuse, she has a huge decision to make about her life. I always love the settings, and the places the characters visit in these stories. The history, food and drink that is described had me wanting to get on a plane right away. With travel not possible right now, this armchair visit to Rome was a welcome reprieve for me. Dreaming of Rome is an Enchanting story of Second Chances, Romance, Family, Friendship and a sprinkle of drama. I absolutely loved the environmental twist on this story. I definitely recommend this story. I began listening to this story, but had to switch and read it. Tanya Eby's accents were hard to listen to and did not do justice to this story at all. I definitely recommend you give the audiobook a pass. -

I think I'm in love... not with Jo, not with the sexy Corrado, not with the city of Rome.. but with T.A. Williams latest adorable labrador, Daisy. She is adorable, clearly cares about not only Corrado but takes a very fast liking to Jo too. I was always smiling when I was reading about her.
Of course she isn't meant to be the star of the book, those other things I mentioned really are, and its once again clear how much the author clearly loves travel and Italy, as it shines through in his words. I'm also pleased to say its not just Rome featured, but some other locations too which are equally wonderful.
I did though find it took me a while to fully get into this book, possibly because our two main leads neither of them believe in love, and they have so much in common it was frustrating me that they couldn't see what me as a reader could see which is that they were clearly made for each other.
I loved Jo's main passion outside of work, was butterflies, I learnt so much about the various species that exist, and found myself with the word "Lepidoptera" running over and over in my head, after seeing it a few times in the book. I literally had butterflies on the mind, although I've never managed to get as close to one as Jo did to take photos or video.
I believe there is a message in this book about the environment, conservation and the use of plastics, its rather subtle but fairly sure its there, but given Jo's occupation its not overly surprising.
Although It took a while to get going for me, once I was, I was enthralled, and was enjoying every moment of it.

As usual I found myself smiling whilst reading the exploits of the dog, this time it was Daisy.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, yes its a bit cheesy but we all need a bit of romance.
Loved reading about Rome, a beautiful city, it took me back there due to the excellent description and the amazing knowledge of the author. I enjoyed reading about the food, the wine and the area.
Again, full marks from me.
A lovely summer read, ideal for the beach/ pool.

Anyone who reads my reviews already knows that I eagerly anticipate reading any books by this highly talented author because I usually find them enthralling, entertaining reads and this one is no exception! I loved the evocative descriptions which had me dreaming of Rome and the other places in Italy that are visited as part of this fantastic story.
The leading lady in this story is scientist Jo Green. Jo is planning on visiting her sister, Angie, and her sister’s fiancé, Mario, at their equine centre outside of Rome. She is met by Mario’s brother, Corrado, who seems to be an attractive and intelligent man. However, Jo has recently had a painful relationship break up and has sworn off men and Corrado doesn't believe in love, either! There is definitely attraction between them -so is this a match made in heaven or one destined to total failure?
There are secrets, science, environmental issues and butterflies as well as romance in this delightful story. I can only hope the scientific work mentioned on creating alternative materials to plastics is coming to fruition in reality soon! It has well developed, easy to relate to, characters, too. There are tasty, descriptions of delicious food and wine to have your mouth watering and, of course, the wonderful Italian settings for you to dream of. Yes, the story has an iconic Labrador, a trademark feature in Trevor's stories, but I'm pretty certain this is the first one where that Labrador is female! She's Daisy and I'm sure she's a star in her own right, she certainly recognises Jo as someone she likes more than most people!
I found it a fascinating and totally engaging read - I really didn't want to put it down until I'd finished it. As usual, I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending this book to anyone who enjoys heartwarming romance with plenty of dilemmas and misconceptions along the way.

I simply adore reading novels by T.A. Williams. With every page I read, there's a certain sense of luxury and escapism and you just get lost in the pages, not wanting to put the story down! This was exactly the case with T.A. William's newest novel: Dreaming of Rome. The cover is gorgeous, I love the fact that it has a sense of continuity within these Dreaming of... series' with the font and style of cover. I love the bright colours used, the flowers framing the cover, the Spanish steps (which gives a clear indication as to where it's set) and also the main character taking centre stage.
The story this time follows Jo, and it starts with her and future brother-in-law Corrado sitting outside an eatery in Rome overlooking the tourists and the city. It's clear from the off that Jo finds Corrado attractive, and that he is a very handsome man but something about the writing shows us that Jo has been severely put off handsome men, and love, for a long time. I actually didn't warm to Corrado that well during the first half of this novel, but then perhaps that's what's Jo's paranoia did to me! Corrado comes across as a ladies man, someone who attracts lots of many different types of women but ends up hurting them and I didn't like that. As the story went on, I found myself liking his character more, but with Jo's paranoia about every female he talked to, I was then the same and was wondering whether he was a womaniser too!
Jo's character on the other hand, was lovely. She seemed down to earth, kind and caring and I felt like I connected with her character more. I enjoyed reading about her time at the conference in Rome and of course, reading about all of the food! It sounded mouthwateringly delicious and I longed to try all of the food which T.A. Williams described! As well as Jo, there are a few other secondary characters we meet, such as Victoria (Jo's best friend), Angie (Jo's sister) as well as Mario (Angie's fiancé and Corrado's brother) and they all seem really lovely too.
I also adored reading about Rome and all of it's history. Having been to Rome myself, it was nice to picture those places again and have such fond memories. So when Corrado was telling Jo all about the history, it was interesting to read, because I still wasn't aware of half of those things! Overall, this was another magical and beautifully written novel by the talented T.A. Williams. I adored every page and eagerly await his next novel! Jo is desperately trying not to fall for her future brother-in-law, Corrado, while visiting her sister and her fiancée in Rome. Jo has sworn off all gorgeous men, and Corrado definitely falls into that category. Corrado has made a promise to his brother and Jo’s sister to stay away from Jo. But they get along really well and decided to ignore the attraction between them, and just be friends for the sake of their families. Corrado swears high and low that love doesn’t exist, it’s just a mix of chemicals in the body, and as much as Jo would like to agree, she isn’t nearly that sceptical about love.
I really enjoyed the writing style of the book and the author’s descriptions of Rome and some of the other places in the book. Mr. Williams managed to bring those places to life on paper and makes you feel as if you are there.
Now, I have enjoyed the interactions between Jo and Corrado very much, as well as their growing friendship. I’m not sure if this next bit gives away too much of the story, and I’ll try my best not to, so POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD:
I feel that Corrado took away Jo’s choices. For all we know they could have been very happy together in Rome without her taking the job in the US. But he made the choice for her. Why couldn’t he have discussed his ideas for expansion with her and maybe they could have come up with a solution together? And why wasn’t Jo angrier that he broke her heart? She seemed almost unperturbed at times with what had happened, and she capitulated very quickly when Corrado explained his actions to her. I do love the Epilogue, and it is a fitting end to the story.
Daisy was the star and a real treat. The two main characters were well developed and interesting, but the rest of the cast were only the supporting characters. They didn’t stand out on their own. The story is written in the third person, but only from Jo’s perspective. I would have liked to know more about what Corrado was thinking and feeling, but we only get that from what he says to Jo and what she interprets from his words and actions.
I enjoyed reading the book, and I will read more from this author.

Once again author T.A. Williams whisks you away to a beautiful location describing the sights, sounds and culture with ease giving you an insight to idyllic areas leaving you with a thirst to visit. Dreaming of Rome takes you to the historical city of Rome that is steeped with history and full of monumental structures of importance.
Dreaming of Rome is a story of two highly intelligent beautiful people brought together by the link of their siblings who are soon due to be wed.
Jo has recently suffered with matters of the heart and as she's approaching her 30's Jo feels like the time is right to settle down but can she trust her heart with another?
Corrado is a handsome geek with Roman god-like looks with a view on love that is so scientific you can't help feel that his views are a little regimental and he is missing out on a little magic. He is highly successful in his field but his unusual way at looking at love thinking logically with his Scientist hat on and analysing all the chemical reactions in the mind and body coming to the conclusion that love doesn't come into the equation. However, when Corrado meets his future sister-in-law Jo he's dazzled by her beauty, her zest for her beliefs and ideas and is charmed by her interest in lepidopterology. But when Corrado starts to experience new emotions around Jo he becomes very confused and is almost shocked at this new change of reaction.
There's a moment in the story when life becomes a little clearer for our leading lady and gent, as if they've been looking at the world through misty glasses and now the view is crystal clear, it is quite a beautiful, tender moment that I felt as equally emotional as the characters.
I really enjoyed this story with a very current topic on conservation that I found very interesting and I also loved Jo's love of butterflies, these two areas in the storyline felt like an added bonus in the whole reading experience. It was such a gorgeous romance that I was sad for the story to come to an end. -
Some say you should never judge a book by it’s cover but then, they also say never say never too, right?! The beautiful book cover for Dreaming of Rome gives a perfectly appropriate snapshot of the overall essence of the book. Of course, there’s more to this story than an attractive woman roaming the streets of Rome but it certainly gives you a good idea of what type of book you’re about to read… and read it, you must!
This book is for all the dreamers out there and anyone that’s looking for a fun, yet thoughtful read. In keeping with the theme of his other ‘Dreaming’ novels, this book is true romantic women’s fiction [without too much fuss in the bedroom scenes]. Filled with interesting characters and dynamic relationships, paired with the beautiful location, this book is sure to capture your attention in the best way possible.
I’ve always been a big fan of the small details that give meaning to a story and I truly loved the details peppered throughout. One such detail present in this book that I loved [and that’s a common theme in most of his books] was the presence of an energetic four-legged friend. The bond that forms between man and dog is such a beautiful thing to observe and I loved the way this furry friend was written alongside her favorite humans.
Whether you’ll be reading from the comfort of your home or while lounging in the sun on a beach chair, I highly recommend you add this novel to your Summer reading list! -
T.A. Williams has got to be one of my favourite romance writers of all time, if my all time favourite. I've never read one of his books which I haven't enjoyed. This was another incredible romance starting with the protagonist Jo, a recently heartbroken woman determined to enjoy life whether or not it involved romance. Her work focuses on the environment and when she gets a call to visit her sister in Rome, who is now engaged. There Jo meets the handsome Corrado (her future brother-in-law) who is exactly her type, loves animals and is working on alternatives for plastic. She's determined that she won't be swept off of her feet by another hunk like her ex and that it would be far too awkward with their upcoming family connections.
Corrado comes across as a bit of a womaniser with women dropping themselves at his feet. Despite claiming to not try to hurt them, he is convinced that love simply doesn't exist and thinks he can prove it using science. Jo's sister tries to warn both Corrado and Jo away from each other, but when it seems like they're made for each other, will this be enough?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characterisation is brilliant and I found myself loving Daisy in particular. The trademark labrador in all of T. A. Williams' books is something I look forward too. I actually felt like I learnt a lot about the environment and butterflies whilst reading this too. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that every time Jo put something on in Rome it was her lightest dress or the most lightweight dress - surely she brought more than one dress! Tiny and petty I know - it just bothered me. I really adored this book and eagerly await the next in the 'Dreaming of...' series. -
Every book by this author is a dream to read. The easy-going style immediately transports the reader to another world with lavish descriptions of the local food and scenery. Although romance is at the heart of each book, there is also the romance of the country, the language and the different culture. With both our heroine and hero having sworn off love, the reader can see that they are instantly drawn to each other even if they are both in denial. With their careers taking them in different directions and the potential problems of being in-laws should it all go wrong, it's hard to see how these two can find true love. Just when things get a little intense, there is a jolt of humour to lift the mood. Will Rome be the home of love for these two? You'll have to read it to find out.

This may be a little cheesy and cliche at times but it was so thoroughly enjoyable that I didn't mind at all. Daisy the dog is the total star of the show and I loved her. The Rome setting was perfect and I felt like I was there. Overall this was a beautiful story, it's very easy to get lost in the writing.

This is a great lighthearted easy romantic read. For me, it is great as a beach read, something that doesn't require too much concentration from me. But it didn't push the boundaries or offer me anything new. I didn't hate it, I just didn't LOVE it.

T.A. Williams did it again, DREAMING OF ROME is a very enjoyable read. It was a story of family, friendship, love and adventure. The author described Rome in such a vivid way you could feel the summer heat. I am so glad I found this author, He has great writing style, his stories are enjoyable, his characters likeable and his setting choice superb.

The Eternal CIty
Captivating story with realistic characters and set in a romantic, Italian city. Couldn't put it down. Fabulous! Best book yet! -
I'm not sure if there's any better setting for a novel than in the sunlight dappled piazzas and cobbled streets of the Eternal City (and it's surrounding suburbs). Or in the islands off the coast of Italy or in the Italian countryside. Actually scratch that. There is no better setting than anywhere in Italy for a romance book - and Dreaming of Rome pulls it off wonderfully. I think anyone who reads this, will indeed go to bed dreaming of Rome...as well as a certain Roman and his dog...
Overall:
I really, truly loved this novel - in fact, I loved it so much that I managed to finish it in just about a day - it was that good. The chemistry between Jo and Corrado is clear to see, and the slow-burn nature of their relationship was delectable, and made it all the more gratifying when of course, they do get together. Furthermore, the backdrop and setting of a city that I adore and everyone wants to visit made it that much more magical. It was well-written and immensely enjoyable to read as a whole. It even manages to explore some important questions, like about the existence of love as more than just animal instincts and pheromones.
Characters:
First off, I just have to comment on the fantastic buildup of chemistry between Corrado and Jo throughout the novel, you could feel the heat and attraction but not in a way that was cheap and worthless.
Jo - as a protagonist I adored her strong nature, and her passion for her work. I loved seeing her passion for what she was doing and her dedication to work, even with a douchey pirating boss. I have to say, I was a little bit disappointed to see her nearly give up her job for Corrado, although it's arguable that he was worth it. I would have just loved to see more of a problem solving angle for that. As a heroine, she is strong, smart, kind and all round a great person to read alongside.
As for Corrado - honestly, I think anyone who reads this can see why Jo not only resisted but eventually gives into him. The epitome of charm, kindness and I guess women's fantasies? Handsome, smart and rich, loves his dog? Perfect. Well, apart from the whole 'not believing in love' thing. The science slant he took on it, re: chemicals in the limbic system was a very interesting way of looking at the situation and taking the whole trope of men not believing in love.
A quick comment on the whole Markus saga - in my personal opinion, I felt that it was almost unnecessary and just took extra attention away from developing Jo and Corrado's relationship more. If anything, I felt that the 'purpose' of his presence, re: the airport incident, could have easily been recreated in another situation.
Storyline:
Overall, the pacing I felt was perfect - not too fast, not too slow. But more importantly, anytime that I put it down, I wanted to pick the book straight up again. Williams just makes you want to see what happens next.
The storyline overall, I adored, with enough movement and slight deviations from the expected. When the characters were hurting, I felt myself hurt along with them (if that makes any sense), which is the mark of an effective romance novel, in my opinion. The journey that Jo and Corrado go on, from refusing to be anything more than friends to more than friends and back again, was well-crafted with tight dialogue and immense attraction effectively conveyed.
I personally also really enjoyed being able to see Jo at work, and the opportunities she was given and took. It was refreshing to be a novel where her work actually forms a major thread to the story rather than just as a girl who hates her job, without a real career.
Overall, a fantastic and sweet romance novel that will have you planning your next holiday to Italy! I know I certainly will be Dreaming of Rome!

I absolutely love the way T.A.Williams writes. When you have one of his books you are guaranteed sun, amazing locations and total immersion in a different culture, language and customs.
Dreaming of Rome takes us to Rome and the surrounding areas via the adventures of Jo who is invited to her sister's wedding and also to her gorgeous house.
Jo swears she's over men after a disasterous breakup and another disasterous date during which I was cheering her on and hoping for the best that she found someone really worthy of her love. So, leaving London for Italy is pretty easy for her. Jo has a passion for butterflies and the butterflies were made so visual in the book, a unique characteristic.
Regarding love: Is Corrado the one for her? Or someone totally different? In true T.A. Williams style, of course there's romance, lounging by the pool and mouthwaterring food as well as great company as well as not so great company. And there has to be a dog. Daisy was a real character and she stole the show on more than one occasion.
The premise is pretty simple, but T.A. Williams pulls the plot off with ease and takes the reader along to Italy (I could almost literally taste the ice creams and other food!) Food, romance, sun and fun, Dreaming of Rome is a laid-back book that really keeps the reader hooked.
A great addition to the Dreaming of......series which has already taken me to many locations.
It really helps that the author lived in various couuntries and has such a love of languages and culture because I always feel I learn some new vocabulary through the easy way the foreign language is woven into the text. This makes the books more enjoyable for me. I learnt some Italian for a year is but still learnt something new through this novel.
A perfect summer/ beach novel- or one for any time of year. Feelgood, and a wonderful pace.

T A Williams has that knack that all good authors do; the ability to transport the reader, placing them at the heart of the setting of the novel, to evoke an acute empathy with the characters and to keep you gripped until the end. 'Dreaming of Rome' is no exception.
Who could fail to be captivated by the romance of Rome? The food, the scenery, the irresistibly attractive Corrado...the scene is perfectly set for a scintillating summer romance.
But, the course of true love never runs smooth and Jo is determined not to fall for her soon-to-be brother-in-law, who himself has declared he doesn't believe in the science of love.
His adorable Labrador Daisy, however, has other ideas and she inadvertently becomes the catalyst for the story that unfolds.
It is always a pleasure to pick up the latest offerings from this author and this is another great read! If you are looking for a feel-good summer novel and want to transport yourself to the Eternal City for a little romance, you need look no further!

Like all T.A. Williams books, this story is atmospheric, authentic and absorbing. You quickly become immersed in the sights and sounds of Rome, the excitement of new possibilities and romance and the chance to escape for a little while.
The theme of this story is contemporary, climate change and both the main protagonists are scientists. both attribute their undeniable attraction to hormones and neural impulses, Jo, because she has been damaged by a previous relationship, ending badly and Corrado because he believes love is merely an illusion.
The reader experiences Rome with the protagonist and that alone makes it a wonderful read, but add in complex characters, a lovely balance of heartbreak and humour and it is the perfect beach read.
I’ve read lots or romantic comedy, many are set in far-flung places, but this series stands out and is always a pleasure to read. If you’re looking for a romantic, escapist read, this series is for you.

The beautiful city of Rome takes centre stage in this latest TA Williams romance and there are some lovely descriptions of the buildings there. Set against all this antiquity, there are some up to the minute themes around conservation and the environment. In Jo and Corrado, you have two switched on central characters, who are intelligent and interested in the world around them. I love Jo's passion for butterflies which fits with her other interests.
No TA Willams' book is complete without a black labrador and I do think that Daisy manages to steal most scenes she is in. With her love of water, food and sleeping, she seems spot on, a true labrador. This is a lovely warm book which I was loathe to put down. It is great read for the Summer and a real escape to a wonderful location.
In short: Can romance flourish with this scientific pair?

I am slowly branching out into genres outside my comfort zone. Being that I absolutely love Rome, I felt like this was a great stepping off point into the world of Romance.
I do find most books that I have read based in Rome or even Italy for that matter, tend to focus on the food and of course the main tourist sites. Getting glimpses of lesser known areas of Rome would be nice and a little more focus on the customs outside of food would be nice but it’s always a nice revisit to the time I spent there. I can imagine the sights and smell the smells of the city.
This book was heart warming and soft. It was easy to follow with smart, likeable characters including a loveable golden retriever by the name of Daisy.
This book was different in that it spread the message of the importance of environmental change to save our planet without the message overpowering the love story.
There is just enough drama to keep you turning the pages but not so much it becomes erratic and over the top.
The only parts I didn’t like is that everyone was a renowned equestrian and there was hardly any mention of horses. Also I swear it’s like only the rich can have these whirl wind romantic getaway relationships because I couldn’t imagine going back and forth to Rome even if I lived as close to Rome as Jo did. I need a book that speaks to us poor people haha.
All in all this was a cozy feel good romantic novel. The characters become familiar and friendly and the back drop of Rome Italy truly has you Dreaming of Rome. -
It's definitely an easy read and super light-hearted. I just felt like the dialogue between the characters was very formal. I understand it between certain characters, but for example, even the way the main character (Jo) spoke to her sister or her best friend was still sooo formal.
Because of all this formality, I struggled to really connect and get attached with the characters. Especially because we barely get any insight into their thoughts.
Also once Corrado and Jo finally admit that they like each other, we don't get any cute scenes between them, it just briefly describes a few of their cute and couple-like interactions.
This book just left me unsatisfied. After reading almost the whole thing, they admit that they like each other and then we barely get anything else from the two. The whole boat trip is pretty much skipped over.
Regardless, it was an easy read and definitely a realistic type of connection. -
I am a fan of the author and I love his writing. This story was no exception. He has the unique ability to describe the locations he writes about in such a way you are transported to foreign lands and can picture the scenes in your head.
There is something which runs through most of the stories the author writes, and that is a dog. The dog featured in this one is a black lab called Daisy, a buoyant young lady with loads of energy. The fact this is a common theme in his books endears them to me even more.
I’m not going to go into the storyline as I don’t like spoiling anything. Suffice to say the love story part is not without its issues. Also there is a very strong message running throughout which deals with the environment, this is dealt with extremely well.

As romances go, this one was pretty predictable. The descriptions of Rome are beautiful, but the story lacked tension. It was also way too descriptive, down to even talking about how the female protagonist bought underwear. For a woman with a PhD who claimed to be off men after a painful break-up, she seemed awfully obsessed with the men she met, gauging each one by how attracted she was to them. The feminist in me also struggled with the notion that she’d give up a dream job to be with the man she loved, and she seemed to define herself by the men in her life rather than by her intellect and contributions to the environment. Not a terrible read, but not memorable either.

This was an enjoyable romance that I read in an afternoon. I had never read any books by this author before but I will look for his other works, I liked his writing style and his character development.
In this book, the title character, Jo, goes to Rome on a business trip and meets her brother-in-law to be named Corrado, who is handsome and successful. Jo has a pretty good idea what kind of guy he is based on what her sister says, and she wants nothing to do with him. Unfortunately, as Jo gets to know him, Corrado proves her wrong and Jo finds herself falling for him.
