She asked me to pretend.

She had no idea who I was.
She offered me a thousand dollars to pretend to be her boyfriend for one day.
I have millions of dollars.
I own restaurants all over the world.
My TV show is about to premiere.
What I don’t have is a woman like her, wild and impulsive and fun.
It would never work out.
She’s dodging her domineering mogul mother and trying save her own app start-up.
Her life is too crazy and I don’t have time for drama.
The next thing I know, I’m flying a helicopter down the coast to rescue her.
Once I have her in my bed, there’s no way I’m letting her go.
She thinks it’s a mistake.
I always get what I want, and I’m going to make her mine.
No more pretending.

    Cute.. but boring?

The Perfect Match was eh okay. I liked the MC's but at the same time I just got bored very easily with these two and their story. This is about a fake romance that became a real one. In it, you will meet Clara and Adrian/Blake. Again, these two were okay for me. I'm really happy that this was free on KU because it was just meh overall. I have nothing else to say lol.

    *Beware of Spoilers*

Clara Rider has been busting her butt to try to make the dating app she created, Slay, a success. Her mother has made it clear she thinks it’s a waste of time and effort. So, she made a bet with her mom that she could find her own perfect match through her app! Unfortunately, Clara doesn’t have time to date so she made up a boyfriend, Blake the doctor. It becomes time to put up or shut up when her mom returns from her trip to Asia unexpectedly and demands to meet Blake! So, she does the only thing she can think of. She offers to pay a random guy a thousand dollars to have lunch with her mom and her, and pretend to be Blake! However, she never expected the man that she solicited to be a successful restaurateur with a reality TV show and book in the works!

During the lunch “Blake” aka Adrian commits he and Clara to a charity event that her mother is attending. The two make a date of it and have a wonderful time and by the end of the night, they both long for more. And, when things start heating up, Clara bails, leaving them both broken hearted.

I wasn’t expecting much going into this book, but I did end up enjoying it.

I really liked Adrian. I thought he was a lot of fun and would be a great guy to be friends with in real life!

I thought Clara’s self-sacrifice was stupid though! He deserves better so I’m going to break it off even though I really love him and he loves me. Dumb. At that point she really didn’t deserve him and I’d be happy to take him off her hands for her!

This is the first story I’ve read from this author and I did enjoy her writing style and humor.

    ONE AMAZING ADVENTURE!!!
Wow! Talk about one hot number! You have one wild rollercoaster ride with a plethora of emotions to sort through. Throw in all the drama, fear, danger and suspense and you have the making for one thrilling experience. Totally engaging, mesmerizing, enthralling wonder that draws you in deeper and farther keeping you on a razors edge from start to finish. Twixt and twined and put through the wringer bring this bad boy roaring to life perfectly. The two main characters chemistry is intense, white hot, off the charts, explosive. When trouble comes knocking really loud, you have a strong alpha male to carry you through. The characters are complex, believable and so realistic you feel like you can just reach out and touch them. They have all the traits, qualities and individuality taking this little gem up a few notches on the hot charts. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it really pulls this bad boy together flawlessly. Remarkable job Annie, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Congratulations to Ms. Annie Rose on her impeccable release of The Perfect Match. This storyline is filled with so much emotional turmoil between Clara and her Mother, as well as Clara and Adrian (although for different reasons). I found myself engrossed from the beginning through to end; with this wonderful book. Yes, Clara has an unbelievably overbearing Mother, that is the cause of so much emotional pain for Clara but this time; she creates a master plan of her own to protect herself; it truly is too bad that nothing could of protected her heart from Adrian, aka Blake, her fake boyfriend. Things take an interesting turn when things heat up between them. Couldit be love? How does a fake relationship go to heartbreak so fast? Can these two amazing characters find their happily ever after? I encourage all romance junkies, like myself, to find out right here in this superbly designed book.

I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of The Perfect Match in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this book.

Clara has a famous overbearing mother. To get out from under her thumb, Clara stopped working for her and started her own company developing a dating app. Unfortunately, her only investor is a friend of her mother’s and she is constantly threatening to get him to withdraw his investment. To stop her, Clara bets her mother that she can use her app to find the perfect match for herself then makes up her match, Blake. When her mother comes to town unexpectedly, she convinces Adrian to be Blake. She doesn’t know him and thinks he’s a counter guy at a bakery.

Adrian plays along and sees how Clara’s mother treats her. He doesn’t like it and defends her. Afterward, he tells Clara who he really is. Clara sees herself as a failure, making immature stupid decisions. Adrian is intrigued and instead sees her as someone with creative energy. This is a sweet love story with some unexpected turns.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Great Character Development (and sizzling romance)

This is not your typical alpha meets girl and gets her. The girl is flawed and gets a bit annoying at first...but it's entirely rational in the end and she realizes what she does and did, and makes a decision to move forward and accept love. I love books with characters who improve as part of the story. And of course beautiful romance and hot sex are a must. I am following this author and look forward to more books.

I really like this fake fiancee romance!! Clara needs a boyfriend and Adrian needs a distraction. Although this type of romance has been done lots of times, I really liked the humor and the characters in this one. There's drama, secrets, heat, passion, and in the end a HEA that will leave a smile on your face!

    Have... (KU reader)

Have you heard the saying "Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!?" Some people are so tangled (not in a bad way 😉) they may never get out! Good story, I definitely enjoyed reading it.

  • Pat

This was a great read with strongly written characters that kept me totally engaged as I turned each and every page of this must read book!

  • Ren

I voluntarily review an Advance Reader Copy of this book. WOW, this one makes me speechless...

  • Nate

Loved Clara & Adrian's story. Couldn't get enough of these characters. Adrian really won me over...lol. This was such a fun book. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book.

    Perfect Rom Com

Loved this story. From the first sentence it was like a modern I Love Lucy in book form. Some angst, a lot of sarcasm, self-confidence issues but all ends well.

  • Aliana

    Adrian and Clara

Cute story. I enjoyed the quick banter between the characters. They just couldn't stay away from each other. I wish the story included more interaction between friends and family. Adrian mentioned a sister and his friend Paul but they had no presence in the story.

    Good book

Good book. Definetly recommend for a light romantic comedy. I will be looking for more books by this author in the future.

  • CharmaineW

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this story in a box set Sinful Desires. If this is a fake pretend relationship, well wow, that is some hot acting. Adrian needs to save Clara from her overbearing mother and oh boy, does he deliver. This is a hot sexy romantic story and loved every moment of reading it. He is genuine in everything apart from the fake boyfriend moment but after that he does care for her and wants more. Great story.

Perfect for Some Light Romantic Reading.
The Perfect Match is a quirky love story that had sad moments, happy moments, and truly funny moments, all occurring when Clara and Adrian appeared on the pages together.
I thought the author gave Clara a profession usually reserved for men - head of an software company and trying to get a matchmaking app out on the market. Adrian is a chef with restaurants all over the world.
You must suspend belief on how they meet but that starts the quirkinesses and it just goes from there. Clare’s mother is high maintenance given her social/TV media success.
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.
I am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.

    Fun read

Overall I liked how light and fun this book was. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because some parts were a little wordy to me. I would recommend this book to others, it's short and fun.

  • Rhonda Sanborn

    Great read

This was an interesting storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Clara and Adrian and their chemistry. I liked that our female lead was independent and strong minded although sometimes undermine her own happiness. I highly recommend this book.
