It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.
I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.
Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.
See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.
Until it was too late.
The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!
Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.
They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.
The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well… helping other people to be hard.
Oh, man…
And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.
By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.
My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?
Having all my dreams come true.

Two disappointing, I am about to stop reading chic-lit stars!
When I read the blurb, I thought I found something like Wallbanger and Beautiful Bastard kinda comedy/ chick lit gem so I can relax a little bit and laugh when I’m sipping my Chardonnay!
As soon as I start this book and meet the heroine Mallory, 28, high IQ’d ( I have real doubts about that because she takes fluffing gig and she thought it was about pumping pillows and changing the places of furnitures! Come on! Use your fingers to google the term if you don’t have any idea), choses Brown over Harvard ( yeah that kinda smart girl doing feng shui for getting rid of bad energies of houses as a profession and she is valedictorian, oh gimme a break!! She doesn’t have any idea about how to keep her phone charged )
I thought she’s Sophie Kinsella’s shopaholic Rebecca kinda character! But at least Rebecca was sweet and she has self confidence. But when it comes to Mallory, she is so insecure about her appearance!
When her high school crush and new boss asked her for high school reunion, she didn’t believe he could like to date her. At the party, when all mean girls and bullies of her high school times try to tease and insult her, she chose to hide at the restroom for crying or running away. At least Will was determined enough to follow her. Come on girl ! You don’t need to be saved from high school’s popular boy, just grow up and stand up for yourself!
I have mixed feelings for Will. When they were in high school, he didn’t show any interest to the heroine and at the first part of the book he thought that she was a porn star. (!!!?) He was mean to her but he decided to drop the charges and let her go. Then he decided to give her job for her magical feng shui techniques so he can manage to sell his house and it worked! Pure magic, right!!!
Then he told Mallory at their third date he was in love with her from the beginning but it took more than 10 years to realize his own feelings. Blah blah blah!!!
Nooooo! I don’t want cheesy realizations, I don’t like dumb heroines who think less of themselves ! I don’t want to read too long best friend dialogues! But I did! And I hate it! 😭😭😭 -
5 Fake It Till You Make It Stars
I loved it! The plot was original and fresh, the characters were real, the writing brilliant and of course it was funny as hell. But it was more than just a rom-com the romance was true and oh so sweet.
Mallory/Mal is in trouble, financial trouble. After losing her professional real estate 'stager' job nearly a month ago her bank balance is now in negative. She spends her days searching for work and one day comes across a job she thinks will be perfect.WANTED: Professional fluffer for set. Experience required (no amateurs)! North Shore area.
Mal's job 'interview' emails/texts were hilarious! Okay nearly everything Mal does is hilarious. She is smart but VERY naive, which is what made it even more funny. This is a warning about reading this book in public, don't do it as it may cause snort laughing and spit drink or both.
At this 'job' Mal needs so bad, everything turns pear shaped when she FINALLY clues into what kind of film set she's on. the owner of the house where they are filming comes and shuts it all down but to Mal's shock it's none other than her high school crush!! Things were said, photos were taken and accusations were made!
I fell instantly for Will, you can tell straight off the bat he's caring and has a soft spot for Mal. Again as Mal is alittlelot naive she doesn't pick up on it as fast. I loved the flirty banter between these two and Julia's writing style makes you feel like you are right there with them. I adored all the secondary characters too, Perky and Fi are a hoot!
So we go on a fun ride with Will and Mal as they try and get past the past and social stigma that kept them apart, all to find or acknowledge their true feelings for each other. This is a must read for rom-com lovers!

Julia Kent is one of those authors that has been on my radar for the longest time. I’m so happy I finally picked up one of her books. Fluffy was a super cute and fun read and I’m looking forward to picking up more in this series!
Mallory is desperate for a job and the one she takes (off Craigs List) gets her in a bit of a pickle. And brings her high school crush, Will, back into her life ten years later. Will and Mallory meet again under crazy circumstances, but Mallory ends up working for Will. And falling for him all over again.
I can’t stress this enough but if you’re going to pick this one up, LISTEN TO THE AUDIO BOOK. Listening to it was such an experience. Seriously, Erin Mallon is so talented. She voices men better than a majority of male narrators, plus she nailed Mallory. I loved listening to this one.
I liked this one a lot, but omg Mallory could be a little (sometimes a lot) oblivious and completely unaware. It was unbelievable to me that someone could be that naive. I liked her, but dang. Will on the other hand was fantastic. I loved him! And I was super happy with the way this one ended.
This story had so much potential and I liked it, even though I had some issues with the heroine. I can’t wait to jump into Perky soon, because I loved her and I don’t think I’ll have these same issues with this book. Either way, if you’re looking for a sweet, sexy, fun, and… well… fluffy romance, I recommend giving this one a go!
“You’re a smoldering fire, Mallory. Not a sudden blast. You’re deep. Shallow bounces right off you. I don’t want to skim the surface. I want to explore the uncharted waters with you.”

It was a little bit cute and fluffy,
But...
The heroine was so unbearable sometimes. Not because she is so naive. Or because she is so stupid sometimes. Nope. I tolerated all that. Then I started to lose count on how many times she ran away! Seriously, whenever something happen that she doesn’t like or not prepared for SHE JUST LITERALLY RUN AWAY. And then Will -our main character- would go running after her. Then something would happen again after maybe five minutes and she would run. Again. And again. And again. Like SERIOUSLY?!! It was just so unbearable. And she’s supposed to be so smart and an Ivy League graduate but her actions are so dumb and childish. This felt like a high school romance even though the characters were twenty something years old adults. Then the end was super rushed like “okay now let’s get this over with!” This book just wasn’t for me, I think. -

A wee bit silly but still good for a laugh...
To be honest, I read the blurb for Fluffy yonky donks ago and thought it seemed a little too OTT to be believable. I put off reading it but I kept being drawn back to the cover. Time and time again, I'd catch a glimpse of the cover, read the blurb, and be reminded that it seemed a little too...fluffy. Well, the other day, it caught my eye AGAIN but this time I succumbed to the lure of a bit of a fluffy read.
I've been reading for a lot of years and even dabbled in a wee bit of erotic romances too. Even with this knowledge, I know I am completely naive when it comes to terminology. I had no idea what a "fluffer" was. Now I know, but I think I could have gone the rest of my life without knowing. I was goofy grinning (and admittedly blushing) at the beginning of the book when poor Malory realised that a "fluffer" wasn't what she thought it was. For a fairly tame story (no whips or chains in this love story) I became quite educated in some of the goings-on of the porn industry.
Fluffy was funny, sweet and gave me just the right amount of heartache turning into heartwarming, that I adore in my romance reads. Mallory is extremely smart, a little ditzy and extremely unlucky in love. Her life is a wee bit of a mess and she's getting desperate trying to find a job. Of course, her high school crush had to come back into her life when she's at her worst.
Will is the perfect kind of hero, smart, sweet and extremely sexy. I absolutely loved that he loved and appreciated Mallory's brain just as much as her body. Will's greatest appeal was in the growth we get to witness when he realises his old high school "friends" are shallow and quite horrible. It's not long before the high school hero becomes just a normal bloke looking for a connection with a real woman. He was just so bloody perfect.
I enjoyed listening to Fluffy and thought the narrator did a great job. I think I would have enjoyed it more if we had been given alternate POV's and a male narrator reading his parts. I've only recently been introduced to dual-narrations and I really love it.
If you're looking for a bit of a laugh and don't mind it being a little OTT, I highly recommend giving Fluffy a try. -
"5-I always know where I'm going with you STARS!"
Wow!
This was such a funny, smart, fun read!
I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this story and its characters.
It was fun reading about Will and Mallory reconnecting after 14 years (even if it was under the most unusual circumstances) and developing a new, fresh adult relationship.
The beginning of this book had me hooked right from the start.
What started as a job opportunity for Mallory Monahan quickly turns into one of the most embarrassing situations that could happen to a person.
This is also when she reconnects with Will.
Great storyline and characters.
Wonderful read!

I adored this book. It was exactly what I needed and I couldn’t put it down. Mallory and Will had me in stitches. I loved the dynamic of Mal and her friends too. Her mother had me ready to pee myself.

Little Miss Perfect and Fluffy by Julia Kent
Narrated by Erin Mallon
Romantic Comedy. Little Miss Perfect is the prequel to Fluffy but is not necessary to read first, though I recommend it.
4.5 Stars
I started the audiobook of
Fluffy by Julia Kent and was cracking up right from the beginning. But as I was telling everyone about it, I noticed there was a prequel, so I stopped Fluffy and began
Little Miss Perfect (Free). Though it is not necessary to read first, I think it gives you some background on the characters in Fluffy that will change the way you read it from the beginning.
Little Miss Perfect takes place 10 years before Fluffy when Will and Mallory are in high school competing for the valedictorian spot. Mallory had always crushed on Will, but this was the first time the nerdy girl ever had any real connection to the popular boy. The whole story took place in one scene but it gave a good background on who the characters were and it was adorably funny.
Ten years later, in Fluffy, Mallory is still holding a grudge against Will because he weaseled his way to the valedictorian spot that belonged to her. She has been laid off of her job as a house stager and she is desperate for a job.WANTED: Professional fluffer for set. Experience required (no amateurs)! North Shore area.
Mallory is ridiculously naive and flighty (She was valedictorian? And she is a ditz that stages houses?) Since Fluffer is an old term that means staging, she thought that it was a staging job, not knowing that a Fluffer works on a porn set “fluffing” the guys’ junk to get them ready for camera. So her response to the ad was HYSTERICAL because everything she said completely worked for the application for the porn job, but she had no clue, not even when she arrived at the house, thinking it was a set for a cooking show."I can't arrange that!"
"Why not?"
"It doesn't fit any of my color palettes!"
The whole scene was so funny I was giggling out loud and I know the people in the cars next to me thought I was a crazy lady cracking up alone in the car. So here she is at the porn set when the police and her high school crush come in and find her in a position that can easily be misinterpreted. They were shooting porn in Will’s family’s house illegally, and she is right there in the middle of it, arranging furniture. LOL, I am giggling again thinking of the scene!
Mallory has some major self-esteem issues despite being crazy smart, and that’s a big part of the book. She is a little bigger than most girls and would never think a guy like Will would look at her. Add to that a high school reunion and her insecurities are really brought to the forefront. She still sees herself as she did 10 years ago. She also has a group of crazy friends, and I can’t wait to get
Perky’s story. I loved how Perky brought out the fun in Mal."My cooch is just fine and freshly detailed and I'm sure Will has a huge eggplant cock and knows how to use it!"
I honestly enjoyed every second of Fluffy, and it’s for sure on my list of audiobooks to re-listen to."Am I coffee-worthy?"
"You're everything-worthy."
Likes:
•I laughed out loud a LOT throughout the whole book.
•A great group of friends.
•Clever and different.
•Her naivete was so much fun.
•Lots of one-liners. It feels like I should say it was over the top funny, but that was OK with me, I loved the ridiculousness of it all.
•Good set up for Perky’s book.
•Her insecurities really spoke to me.
Dislikes:
•I wish she wasn’t supposed to have been so smart because nothing she said or did backed that up. She went to Brown instead of Harvard and is an out-of-work house stager, way to not live up to your potential.
The Narration:
Erin Mallon was perfect for this! Her timing and delivery took an already fun book to a great time all around. I loved it and think that her narration made it even funnier.
The Down & Dirty:I loved Fluffy by Julia Kent, and its prequel, Little Miss Perfect. I don’t often laugh out loud from reading, but I love books that can coax real giggles from me. Mallory was such a ditsy smart girl and Will was pretty swoony himself. Mallory's innocent naivete was a little much, but that's OK in a romcom, and it never really felt too over-the-top or like it was trying too hard. Perky is the wild best friend that all the sweet innocents have, and I can't wait for her story next. Fluffy had a fresh and fun meet-cute, and though it was light on drama and angst, it was a whole lot of silly fun.

Hilarious book from one of my favorite rom-com writers.
Mallory is an out of work professional fluffer. The kind that helps realtors sell homes faster, not a sex worker.
When she answers a job ad for a fluffer, things go sideways, but she gets reunited with her high school crush. Turns out he was just as interested in her, and is thrilled at the chance to get to know her.
*I read an ARc for review -
Wow, I did not like this one. I'm normally a Julia Kent fan. I just couldn't stand how stupid the "Fluffer" situation occured. I just hated how she ran away from uncomfortable situations. I really did not get how she suffered from such low self-esteem as she graduated head of her class in highschool and accepted at Harvard...but ten years later she's barely living on her own in an artistic position of home staging.??
The banter got very old because even while making love she's thinking or saying weird stuff.
Some of you may like the humor but I was overwhelmed by it...like too much marshmallow cream... -
Omg the first few chapters of this book had me cringing and cracking up! I just wish the majority of the book was as funny. Still good, but I’d been expecting more laughs after that first bit.

- Alicia, 5 Stars

I was so in the mood for this book. o.m.g. So funny. One of my favorite tropes is the meet cute. Fluffy starts out with a whopper of a meet-cute. Mallory get into a major job description misunderstanding. She doesn't know what a fluffer is. It's a running joke throughout the book. Will seems a little wooden and stern in the beginning of the book-and with good reason. Who wants a porn film crew in your parents' home? Not me. Mallory is book smart (she turned down Harvard!) but she gets fooled major big time. I was concerned that there would be too much wackiness. There's a lot of humor, but some really sweet moments too. Will turns out to be a really nice guy. He did notice Mallory back in the day. They had lockers next to each other. Mallory had a major crush on Will and is still crushing on him.
Mallory seemed to dwell on the past. She was valedictorian of her high school class, but felt like she never quite fit in. She was still seeing everyone as they were 10 years ago-including herself.
Will to Mallory: "Why would you hide the fact that you're smart from a guy?" Laughter, fourteen years of it, all bottled up and fizzy, comes shooting out of me like I'm Diet Coke and his words are Mentos.
There are a lot of porn jokes. Yes, I laughed at them. So awkward but IMHO, very funny.
"..it was an internet boycott. I was part of. The AlwaysDoll manufacturer was using slave labor to make the dye for the plastic labia."
A lot of one liners. Mallory and Will become friends. She has no idea that Will could be attracted to HER?? Yes. He is.
This could finally be when Mallory finally finds her groove.
She finds her professional niche. She also stops caring so much what others think of her.
Great ending... Not so much into the future. I think that this would make a great audio book.
I will be rereading this book for sure.

Having all my dreams come true. -
Coming off two almost back to back top reads of the year I knew my next read had a fair bit to live up to. After having read this blurb I figured this book would be the ideal funny light-hearted story to break the ice.
I really need to learn to just put books down without finishing them when they aren't working for me. Because by 20% I knew this wasn't the book for me but I still had to see it through for some stupid reason only the depths of my brain knows.
So the book wasn't bad it just wasn't the type of comedy I prefer. There were moments that made me laugh but the book felt like it was trying to be smart and teach me a lesson and I am not a fan of that.
Also as characters Will and Mal annoyed me endlessly. Seriously the ten year reunion scene had me wanting to smack them both in the head. And the secondary characters were just as bad. Sometimes I wasn't sure if they were actually friends or just people stuck in close proximity to each other. And the nicknames just no.
Who's parents gate crash their date, make comments about their daughters virginity to the date? But then what kind of jerk just leaves in the middle of the date because of the parents after she has told you how sensitive she is after her horrific dating experience? I guess the family and partner of a girl who didn't call a single one of them out on it and went on a second date without wanting an explanation of his behavior.
So yeah i should have put it down. Instead I pushed through and now I am complaining so I guess I am right up there with Mal. Sorry guys. -
I love Will and Mal! Mal’s situation at the beginning was hilarious. Will and Mal have definite chemistry and their banter throughout the book is awesome. Even the side characters have you rolling in laughter. A book full of witty banter, hilarious situations, chemistry, friends, and love! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

I will begin by telling you the writing in this book is top notch and the performance on the audio is great. Lots of funny stuff.
Our heroine is trying to find a job. She is a stager. She stages houses for realtors. I learned that in years past this position was called a Fluffer because they fluffed the pillows and such. Of course we all live in the real world and read lots and lots of books (Also we watch cable tv) so we all know what a fluffer is in today's terminology. Unfortunately our heroine has been living under a rock and doesn't read enough books so she was uninformed about the sex stuff. That is until she takes a job on Craig's list. *shakes head*
A bad situation gets worse when the cops show up accompanied by the owner of the house the film was preparing to be made. To add insult to injury the owner of the house is our heroine's high school crush. Who is, of course, still gorgeous and single. (I never want to run into any of my high school crushes. I like remembering them the way they were. In the real world they don't get more handsome.)
As for our hero? He actually had a bit of a crush on her in high school, too and wants to get to know her now. (I love fictional worlds *romantic sigh*) -
This book was surprisingly delightful and gets right in your face and makes you want to be part of this group of ladies.
It's original and fresh taking a small town and giving a 21st taste with bad cliches and so much more. Mal is hopeless and I have to love her. She isn't what I expected when I found out her credentials but it made sense when you take into her count her hopeless luck at social lives. But her she had a sharp mouth when it mattered.
So when Will saves her bacon literally and gets her out of her rut.
Being a Fluff isnt' so bad anymore with Will in the equation. Will is charming and put together the total opposite of her. But they were so perfect for each other.
I enjoyed the snappy writing with the sex innuendo that were so perfect for these two
after they re connected. It's a story of miss opportunities and working through everything to find common ground. Both of them are fun characters and I enjoyed this fun contemporary read -

Performance 5 stars
Story 3 stars
Fluffy is a hilarious slow burn, second chance-ish romcom. I had several laugh out loud moments while listening to this one and it was fun from start to finish. Erin Mallon's narration is absolutely perfect and her comedic timing and delivery are second to none. She voiced all the characters so wonderfully that I had no problem distinguishing between them and I am always impressed by both her female and male voices.
I'm probably in the minority here, but as much as I enjoyed Will, Mallory, and all the supporting characters, I didn't love them. The humor was great, but became repetitive and a little too silly for me as the book progressed. I also felt like Mallory's inner monologue/stream of consciousness was too detailed and distracting. It was confusing and often made me forgot what the original point was. I definitely think that readers/listeners would have benefited from having some chapters in Will's POV, since he seemed to run hot, then cold, and then inferno, depending on the situation. He was OK as far as romance heroes go, but the warm fuzzies and swoony moments were unfortunately missing for me.
Mallory also confused me, because she was supposedly this incredibly smart young woman who made her own choices regardless of what other's thought, etc, but she never did anything in the book to back this up. She constantly ran away from uncomfortable situations and even after she decided not to care about the opinions of others, she still didn't stand up for herself. Instead, her friends and Will did it. I think I just wanted her to blossom and come into her own, the same way Rayelyn did.
Overall, Mallory and Will were cute together and I did love the John Hughes feel of the shy nerd and big man on campus falling for each other, but the proclamations of love seemed premature since they really didn't know each other at all as adults. This was still a very funny listen and I am curious to see how Perky's story unfolds next. -
Oh my god, this book is way too much fun and I love it so damn much.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review
There’s nothing more fun that reading a story that has an embarrassing meet/reunion. It’s too funny, absolutely hilarious this situation Mal gets herself in. This woman is pure comedy gold, I love her so much!
I love me some “the one that got away” romances and Fluffy is definitely one of those. A school crush, a school reunion and a misinterpreted job offer mixed together makes this book that absolute perfect book if you’re looking for a laugh with a little bit of sadness in.
Julia Kent is pure genius when it comes to romcoms especially with this beauty. I absolutely adored this story and the characters. Julia managed to bring Mel and Will to life throughout this book and they’re characters that will stick with me forever. I’m already itching to read Perky’s story. -

Ill be honest i didnt know what a fluffer was.. so im with Mallory in that.. and wow.. something new you learn..
As for this story.. idk it was hard for me i felt bored and it was hard to connect for me..since it was told from Mallory pov.. and i needed Wills pov.. i just couldnt click with them.. also they haven't seen eachother for 10 years.. Mal was eh very naive..and always having her friends push her to do things she doesnt like sign her up for dating app.. when she said no, making her go to the 10 year reuinon.. as for Will.. i felt nothing no swoon nothing.. i really wanted to like this book.. i skimmed the rest of the book..
Its sad when the only person i enjoyed was Beastman jwjakak i gave it that rating for the cover and beastman..
Low angst, no ow mentioned om a date that never happened cuz he was a fake person, no cheating, drama, secondary charas, no virgins, sexy time
Recomend- maybe

Another super hilariously fun book. So many funny bits, talking about the search terms used to find out about what happened and see pictures on line. And then when the main character calls someone Hagrid's porn twin, I just about died laughing! Listening to this on my drive home from Branson and it made the drive fly by. I did get mad at the main character at one point when she was mad at her love interest for no reason, but as you've heard me say in past reviews, I know that is just how authors add the drama! So much I loved about this story, and let me tell you what, while it wasn't a cliffhanger per se for how this ended, it definitely left me needing book two, Perky.

I was not into the immature characters...it was fun at first but after a while...it has gotten ridiculous
And the heroine... is just too much for me -
If I could give this more stars I most definitely would! Julia Kent is known for her quirky, funny as heck stories. If you have read her Shopping for the Billionaire or Random series, you already know the humor she can pull out of her characters, how she can take some really random story from the internet (or heck probably real life) and bring them to life in her stories so much so that you have to google them to see if something like she mentions actually exists (and most often they do). Fluffy is funny...rolling off the treadmill while you are reading funny....doubled over in laughter until tears run down your face funny. I found myself wanting to message her every five minutes because my funny bone was just tickled over and over again. But wait....as funny as this story was...I found it to be about so much more than just humor for humor's sake. Okay...not knowing what she was walking into taking a job as a fluffer is hilarious. But the back story about Mallory and Will (who I will readily admit has now surpassed Declan in my affection, which I never thought possible) is about expectations...of the past, present and future. It is about how some experiences in your past can shape the person you are even when you can't admit that they have. It is about finding the strength to just be who you are, who you are meant to be and accepting that that person is okay, that there is nothing wrong with who you are or the choices you have made. My heart was completely engaged in Mallory and Will's story as well as some of the other characters we come across. I will never, EVER look at Fluffernutters the same again. You will absolutely love this couples' "come to Jesus" moments and if you don't swoon several times in this story along with all the laughter then I have no more words. I could write a book, but I'd rather you just read it and get the complete joy of the dysfunction that is Mallory as she navigates the road into adulthood.

An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent
