In a world weary from war and recovering from the aftermath of global warming, a new disease threatens to take over. Healthy people become monsters defying the laws of nature. While the threat of this disease spreads and the availability of adult recruits dwindles, the United Commonwealth Forces resorts to using children to become soldiers, training them to kill those who are infected. Ash Campbell is one of these children, taken against her will. Born with signs of the disease, she struggles to hide her affliction from those would would kill her. As Ash learns about the disease, she reveals herself to her closest companions, testing their loyalty and the lengths a friend will go to help another.

Riveting!
A fantasy grounded in truth. In our quest for every increasing power and agelessness, do we really know what the fallout will be? Do “they” care??
“Obsidian Affliction” is a great story of the ongoing consequences of abuses of power vs the ever present human desire to be Human. This first effort is a winner in her descriptions ... I found myself drawn into the story- feeling the energy of each well composed scenario, and eager to continue until the unexpected last word!
“Obsidian Affliction “ has the ability to reach a large inter generational audience. Its message is germane to our present conflicts and choices; I’m eager for the rest of the trilogy (hint hint, Ms Bean)
