I am a dragon who needs his mate, even if I have to buy her...

Axel

My dragon consumes me, forcing me to shift day and night, and other clans are questioning my leadership. I was starting to go insane and on the brink of losing everything I have worked for. That was until I met Sam at the bar, a gorgeous dancer that I cant keep my eyes off nor keep my dragon within from claiming her as my own. As I saw her being abused by a raving lunatic, I could not take this any longer and had to do something before my dragon erupted fire. I offered him cash on the spot for his mate and never looked back. My body craves every ounce of her, and she is making it harder each day to stay in control especially when the man that sold her thinks he can walk in and take her back like nothing. But I am keeping a secret from her that may ruin everything and spiral my dragon out of control…

Sam
When I fell in love, I got more than I bargained for; a man who turned into a nightmare from hell. Now, I find myself bought and sold to a mysterious, mouth-watering hunk of a beast with rippling muscles and a sweet side that makes me melt like never before. Learning from my past, I know I cant trust him nor give him my heart. I need to be strong and firmly say no. However we have one problem, the animal that sold me wants me back and he wont give up until he gets his way. The more I need to be protected, the more my body yearns and aches for Axel's presence both in and out of bed. I know I have to risk it all, even if that means him finding out my secret that might ruin everything and putting me back in the hell that I came from…

Sam had always longed for a loving romance with her Prince Charming, so she was easy prey for handsome, strong, and fit Ron. She didn’t realize what he was really like – nor what he really was! When she tried to break up with him, he smacked her and, in his anger, he shifted to his wolf form. She managed to trick him into walking out the door, then she turned and locked it behind him. Sometime later, the door shattered and he stalked toward her in his human form. He smashed the bathroom door into her head and the world went dark around her.

Sam awoke in a small hut with ocean waves crashing outside! She had no idea where she was, especially since she did not live near an ocean! She found Ron in the kitchen area, acting like they were merely on vacation. But when she demanded to go home, he screamed that she would be his mate and, slapping her in the face, he dragged her into the bedroom. Weeks later, she tried once more to escape – despite knowing she was on an island – but Ron caught her and smacked her around again. By now, she had realized she was pregnant; but he thought his attempt to get her pregnant had failed. So this time, he decided he would make money off of her and SELL her to someone else! Was this her way to freedom? Or would she suffer as someone else’s belonging, someone who may be just as cruel or worse than Ron? And what would that person do when he discovered she was carrying someone else’s child?

The story was well written and the characters described in a way that showed their personalities, even if the reader might choose not to! Sam is introduced to a different world from what she is used to, and has to keep her baby safe while she has no control over the horrible situation she finds herself having to endure. Is there a HEA for her? Will she give Axel a chance to show her his world and how different it can be for her?

I found this riveting, emotional dragon shifter romance, an absolute pleasure to read. The story-line & plot is intriguing, well thought-out and written, the pace is steady and not rushed; it keeps the reader’s attention. The characters are unique & quite well-developed with individual personalities & they have a variety of traits and different sides to their personality.
There is: dragon shifters, wolf shifters, an abused woman (Samantha aka Sam), a conniving wolf shifter (Ron), a dragon shifter looking for a mate (Axel), twists & turns, intrigue, some suspense, memories, adventure, action, abduction, captivity, danger, enemies, violence, abuse, threats, conflict, secrets, anger, fear, dismay, trust issues, nightmares, investigation, suspicions, devious plans, verbal confrontation, accusations, shifting, explanations, acceptance, happiness, love, some steam & a well-deserved ending.
I enjoyed reading this book & would recommend it.

Over all a reasonable story if a little disjointed in places. Nicely rounded characters with reasonable dialogue. I did find the heroine, Sam, a little too fearful at times but given her experiences not too unexpected. I do prefer my heroines a little more feisty but since I read this in one sitting it cannot have been all that bad
I received an ARC copy and am leaving this honest review freely

I love it when LOVE wins out, and evil destroys itself, and that is exactly what happens in Maia Starr's newest dragon novella, "SOLD TO A DRAGON." The conflict is raw, the scenes get STEAMY, and there is at least one trigger so only those 18 and over need apply or buy this title. This author is fairly new to the scene and has the stilted dialogue and over narration typical of a growing author, but her imagination is RIGHT ON, and so creative! I liked this novella.

This story is more of I'll rescue the girl and see if she'll have me. The author's version of stupid is written all over this story, especially the girl. This dragon world doesn't fall in with the author's previous dragon stories an is difficult to understand, especially since I have read other dragon shifter stories by this author.

Enjoyable and entertaining read. Some aspect of the story was difficult to read but still the same the story had plenty of intrigue, action, and of course steamy romance to keep you hooked from beginning to end. Overall a good read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

    Dragons and wolves

This book was just ok imo. It takes you through the journey of Samantha and her relationship ship with a wolf. It had violence and little bits of heat and build up, I just had a hard time connecting with the characters. It wasn't a bad read, I just couldn't get into it

  • Tammy Sowards-Sanchez

We meet Sam and follow her thru ups and downs. She met a guy named Ron and tjought she loved him. When he couldnt get her to sleep with him he did some underhanded things. When she got with Axel she didnt know if she could trust him. Can he win her over? Will she accept his dragon?

  • Linda Elliott

    Well written

This book is well with written with details but some spelling errors. The story is short enough but long enough to get all the details in. The characters of believable and well rounded.

  • Cathie McManus

Emotional story. Good vs. Evil. Sam was in a bad situation. Axel helps her out. They fight to overcome their secrets and the threats.

    It is a HEA

  • Amber

    Great read (spoiler at bottom)

It was a great read and the relationship developed nicely though I do wish it did include the gender of axels and her baby.

  • Carmen Blackman

    Good read

I enjoyed the book, I just wish that the last part of the book didn't seem so rushed. Other than that I enjoyed it.
